TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands.
To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.
I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.
I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.
I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all.
Not to mention the whole business with them trying to secretly buy out our other big Japanese partner Sunrise under our noses.
Speaking of the grudge I wonder how the filming of the new the Gamera movies going? It wouldn't settle the grudge to provide a real rival to Godzilla but it'd be a nice start.
There is a reason why I want to buy the Mothra Franchise from them. At the moment is gathering dust, and Toho will only try to revive it when Godzilla Vs. Biollante shows that the fans want to see their beloved Kaijus back. If we can get them before they even manage to reboot Godzilla, we could then license them to Daiei in order to make them part of the Gamera Franchise.
Could I ask you a couple of questions? I've been wondering how The Mentalist has been doing on CBS, as well as curious about when the Faith the Unholy Trinity action is supposed to come into play, since you said the reward for Part 2 was that it would get it's own action.

Thanks for answering.👍Sucks to hear that about Mentalist, but it's good that it's at least doing alright. That's really fortuitous timing for the action then, cause I was actually just wrapping up the Part 3 pitch lol, so the trilogy of pitches will be done soon.
If we do somehow manage to buy them, it would make a certain someone on our team very happy. Apparently, rumor says Akira Kurosawa REALLY wanted to make a Godzilla movie of his own (Guy was even friends with Ishiro Honda, the director of the original Gojira. Heck, Kurosawa listed the '54 movie as one of his favorites.), but couldn't due to Toho worrying about him going over-budget. We could probably do Godzilla Minus One probably by the 90s....if we buy Toho of course.
Alright! I've finally wrapped up the Faith trilogy, woohoo! Very funny timing though with the action for the trilogy apparently coming next turn or so, but life just works out that way sometimes. I used my fill-in band, Miracle of Sound for the composition again, basically to cover the Southern Rock part of the soundtrack, as represented by Hell's Got An Elevator by Aviators. As for the second song included, King of Pain is actually considered to be a sort of theme song for John and what he's going through by Airdorf and is something that is heavily referenced in the game. With the song having come out in '83, I thought that I should add it and it should be a sort of theme song for the whole trilogy. Father John Ward is still intended to be played by Mel Gibson, who I originally chose for his Catholicism and strong acting abilities, but I decided to change up his alternate casting to Michael Biehn, who I think would work just as well and I think can look the part pretty well. Father Garcia was kind of difficult to find actors for, since I needed older, Hispanic men, but I did eventually land on Edward James Olmos. I went with Meryl Streep for Lisa Pearson, who I think both looks the part, as well as just being a fucking phenomenal actress. Gary Miller is to be played by Tobin Bell. Despite being known almost exclusively for the Saw franchise, he has been in loads of other stuff and has been acting since the 70s, although this would be his first major role in a feature film and I think he more than has the ability for it, as well as looking exactly like Miller. Miriam Bell is Doris Roberts, who I know primarily for her role as Marie from Everybody Loves Raymond. I love that show and I grew up on it, but my dad was fucking obsessed. He watched it so damn much and so often that I sometimes wondered if he genuinely even watched any other show. We had a complete DVD set back in the day, but we don't have them anymore. Sadge. We still quote it all the time though. "You ain't got no ~friends~." For Lisa, I know that they aren't actually twins and are just close childhood friends, but I prefer the twins interpretation, so I've decided to go with that instead. I also decided to include the Wendigoon video again, just in case any of ya'll have forgotten the story or haven't checked it out yet. I'm really excited to see where these films go and take us. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy!
Movie Pitch:
Faith, The Unholy Trinity: Chapter 3 Written by: Mavis Kingsley Composed by: Danny Elfman and Miracle of Sound Taglines:
"What I am about to do has not been approved by the Vatican."
"I can only have faith that I did the right thing"
"You've been so brave. But now... It's time to finish what you started."
SET UP: Following the events of Chapter 2, Father John Ward continues his quest to combat the Eternal Order of the Second Death. He tracks down the cult to its various operations and chases down Gary Miller, it's leader, with the help of Father Garcia and Lisa Pearson. Closer than he's ever been before, but with Lisa's safety now at risk, he must hurry before their plans can be completed. Yet, even with his haste, the Profane Sabbath is almost at hand and John is doubting that he can truly defeat them.
Father John Ward: John Thomas Ward is a young, former Catholic priest. After the events of the first film, he's been shaken and is suffering from a crisis of faith. Still, he continues forward to try and save Amy Martin, find the missing twins, and stop the Cult of the Second Death Played by: Mel Gibson Alternate: Michael Biehn
Father Garcia: A former Catholic priest, after the previous events at the Martin home, he begins working with John in order to stop the Cult of the Second Death. They have yet to meet in person, simply communicating through letters as they work in separate directions towards the same goal. Played by: Edward James Olmos
Lisa Pearson: She is John's twin sister who has the misfortune of living in an apartment complex owned by Gary Miller. She, along with John, were the actual twins that John had been chasing after. An orphan, she and John were at the orphanage with Miriam Bell. She tried to keep in contact with John by writing him letters, but he ignored her. It is her letters and plea that he help her that leads him to the apartment complex after it becomes clear that it was taken over by Gary and his cult. She was spared from death by Gary due to his desire to have her be the host for the UNSPEAKABLE. After being saved by John from possession, and after John defeats the cult, she begs John not to go with Father Garcia and continue hunting demons, instead pleading that he stay with her, saying that he doesn't need to keep fighting and that they can live the rest of their lives together. John reassures her and reaffirms his care for her, taking her hand, but despite her plea, John ultimately goes with Garcia. She has a habit of smoking cigarettes. Somewhat more social and outgoing compared to John, she made friends with Tiffany, initially unaware that she was one of Gary's cultists. She is shown to trust John completely. She works as an artist. Played by: Meryl Streep Alternate: Susan Dey
Gary Miller: The leader of the Eternal Order of the Second Death, he was "born" from a cursed ritual and raised by his "mother" Miriam Bell and fellow cult members to become the leader of the cult. With years of preparation and dedication, his primary goal is to summon the Antichrist on the Profane Sabbath via the Second Death by using a vessel. Due to how long it takes to find a worthy vessel, his secondary goal is to have the UNSPEAKABLE, an evil deity worshipped by the cult, possess a manipulated and drugged person. Played by: Tobin Bell
Sister Miriam Bell: An old nun, she is a demonic figure that has lived for a very long time and was the one who corrupted the old church. She is the mother of Gary Miller as well as being the Mother in the Unholy Trinity. Played by: Doris Roberts
Michael Davies: A teenaged boy who was transformed into a thin, pale creature after being possessed by a demon and locked within a basement for three months, being watched over by Father Garcia in an attempt to exorcise him. He broke free of his chains during one of these exorcism sessions, killed a number of people, and scurried off into the outskirts of Sterling, Connecticut, decimating anything that came across his path. He was killed by John Ward in the first film. Played by: Emilio Estevez
Amy Martin: A socially isolated teenaged girl who gets tricked into becoming possessed by a demon. After her increasingly worrying behavior, her parents contact the Catholic Church for an exorcism. The exorcism fails and she murders her parents, becoming the vessel for a terrible, cursed ritual. Played by: Winona Ryder Alternate: Molly Ringwald
Genre: Turn based strategy game.
Premise: Based on the first Gundam series, Gihren's Greed is a turn based strategy game that has players choose between the Federation or Principality of Zeon throughout the One Year War.
Gameplay:The player will control the political and military situation of their chosen faction. Ordering troops and characters around, maintaining political stability during the war and building new weapons and technologies to deploy. As the game progresses the player's choices and in game triggers will lead to a number of "what if" scenarios. This in turn will lead to unique in game events and unlock different "story paths" and endings. A number of Cutscenes will be in the game animated in the style of the Gundam anime.
If the technology allows for it the game will have some form of multiplayer. With a potential computer version to have either Online play or "Play-By-Email" style of multiplayer.

I've never played Gihren's Greed (apparently there was never much of an English release). But I tried to do my best to create a barebones pitch for it. Apparently it plays a bit like Civilization and Hearts of Iron.
Which ending are you going with? Because I'd prefer if it was the one where John joins Father Garcia in searching and killing more demons. In my mind, I imagine it going like John thinking of the offer, then puts his hand on his pocket; there, he finds something, and when he pulls it out, he finds his cross, the one's he'd lost before, and during the entire trilogy had been loosing its luster.
Seeing it as a sign, he puts it on, then says the final line of the ending of the game as he shakes Father Garcia's arm.

I'm going with the Father Garcia ending. I really like the stuff surrounding the Lisa ending, but I think it's the wrong move in general and I also really like the Garcia ending as well, so I decided to have my cake and eat it too. I'm including all the lead up dialogue from the Lisa ending, but that John ultimately chooses to go with Garcia and that she accepts his answer and she says how she's waiting for him to come back.

Hardworking, dedicated, and charming, The Architech by all accounts should have broken into the "Mainstream" villain scene ages ago, but a poor performance in Europe during a difficult time, with it the lack of a "Brand" and lack of finances; he is forced to be the Right Hand Man to an equally large amount of small time crooks and occasionally Wedding King. He is a Civil Architect by trade.

The Keeper: The Vetin Townhouse Owner, a mysterious Information Broker, housekeeper and Civil Service member, works to keep tabs on the various members of their Townhouse and acts as our "Rod Serling" style narrator and guide in this world.
Blanc Le Roche: A European supervillain who is Darwin's Boss, and owner of a small network of super criminals. Considers herself the epitome of Villany, even if she was kicked out of five different villain gangs for being too weird. AN: Finally got this thing finally DONE! Thank you @Schehera Zade for feedback and support.
[]I think that this is quite good (The Trilogy can be produced at the same time with no maluses)
[]The Pope wants to see you. Again. (You have been invited to see the pope again)
[]I think that This will scare the shit out of everyone (Give a bonus to the action for this next turn)
Love the overall concept, but I feel there is a danger of a major suspension of disbelief in regards to the second act where Richard and John gain conclusive proof of Joseph's actions, and Richard just kind of whines that they need to go to the police and doesn't take any action himself, regardless of the fact that they definitely have enough evidence to justify a warrant or an arrest. This could lower many people's opinions on Richard as a dumb enabler and could make the overall story seem very contrived. But I do like the overall framework, and some easier explanation for why they don't just go to the cops makes it work.
Great stuff and this makes me really glad that we bought Sega instead of Atari. Atari is nice, but thanks to Sega we now have a natural method of recruiting original and OTL Japanese developers to make games instead of having everyone immigrate to America.
I figured with the three nat crit successes on reception and quality, that Zeta Gundam was definitively the anime to truly break the molds and apply a beam saber to the wall of prejudices and ignorance towards animation with people in general starting to take it seriosuly. Of course, just because Zeta exists it doesn't mean those biases won't go away as many may see Zeta Gundam as just the exception and most are still kiddy stuff. But I think attitudes of the 80s are going to be like how animation is today with the huge anime community being mainstream and hit shows everyone talks about like Invincible. Gen X are definitely going to be like Zoomers where they'll hold onto their love of animation into adulthood instead of abandoning it because it's "Kids stuff".
Actually, that raises an interesting question for how Joey is handled in Full House. Part of Joey's comedy was that he held a strong love for cartoons which is seen as sill and weird because he's a grown man who likes watching Looney Tunes and Disney. He's kind of the perfect representation of how animation is viewed back then as while nominally respected by the cast, he's singled out as weird for liking cartoons as a grown man. Here that may be more neutral of a trait like Jessie's obsession with Elvis. Would be hillarious if Jessie is a full on weeb, something that Fuller House really missed out on.
Probably, and we'll most likely get more original UC content along with more timelines. Personally, I was planning on submitting a pitch for War in the Pocket after ZZ comes out and hten doing 08th MS Team and Stardust Memory sometime in the late 80s/early 90s. After 1984, I want G Gundam to be an 80s anime, one that will probably be a hell of a lot more popular not just due to Gundam's brand power, but also the increased health and fitness craze with G Gundam's martial arts building off of Pacific Rim being seen as super cool.
By the way, I guess it would be good to address this now, should we still do Char's Counterattack? Personally, I was never a fan of how Char fell as it felt like the whole movie was superfluous and it went against his character development in Zeta. Here I sort of left it open on if Tomino is gonna go full CCA with hints that Char hasn't changed for some hopeful setup in ZZ.
I think with Tomino having good mental health and viewing ZZ as his Return of the Jedi, he might not be eager to kill off Amuro. At most, if CCA does occur, I was thinking maybe having Char still be dead through accepting his fate and being used as a vessel for the Axis Shock, and we can do the whole split soul thing for Unicorn, and with Amuro at most maybe he loses his Newtype powers as a sacrifice to do the Axis shock, thus the first Newtype becomes an Oldtype to save the future. Heck, we could tie that in with Sayla being pregnant with his son so while Amuro no longer is a Newtype, he built a better future for Newtypes like his son to truly suceed in better understanding one another.

Love Gihren's Greed, but I think it would be best for us to wait for the second or third generation console. Not only for better graphics, but also so we get more content with the OVAs and UC EU material being added in for a greater roster and MS complement. We don't even have ZZ out yet so it is a bit early.
Really like this post eventhough I never watched Gundam, glad we finally pounded a hole into the brickwall of the snobishness/cultural norms of reviewers. And I bet with every coin that I have that the Reagan will become meme'd in the future as a gundam/AEUG fan. Also you got to wonder what for effect this has when another Japanees creator achieves succes with LucasFilm.
Where before I was ambivalent with Murdoch, now I'm enraged. Glad that eventhough the sabotage effected its performance it regained it with VHS and will most likely be awarded an Oscar (I hope).
Well I think one thing that is for sure is that Zeta Gundam when combined with Macross is gonna push Hollywood to a new craze in producing mecha/starfighter stories to get in on the hype. Universal should be going full steam ahead with The Last Starfighter and while live action mecha isn't really feasible at this point in time, some may be daring to create any form of mecha or robot action animated series. I kind of want Cat to come up with something original for Disney, but I'm unsure what.
For all of the major TV networks, I think there's going to be a major rush to try and secure the broadcasting rights for anime, whether that be prime time material or morning "cartoon" stuff. Japanese media is all the rage as a form of art that is perceived to be generally of higher quality than American stuff, so the studios will want to partner with all the non-Sunrise stuff as patrons to catch on any potential goldmines that Lucasfilms is missing. I already made a point that Disney is going to air Lupin III Part 2 for prime time slots on Disneychannel since Part 2 is essentially Tom and Jerry meets heist hijinks, and such stuff may be the norm.
Actually, that raises an interesting question for how Joey is handled in Full House. It could be a fun dichotomy if Joey was a fan of traditional western animation while Jesse like anime more. "Jess I'm tellin ya for the last time. Give Popeye one can of spinach and he could have beat Zeon by lunchtime".
And there was that one plot point where Jesse's band was a hit in Japan. So we could see something with that happening in quest . Maybe some of his music is rock covers of Anime theme's.
Also for some reason I'm imagining an episode where Joey and Jessie for some reason have to switch Halloween costumes where Joeys dressed as a RX-78 and Jesse's having to go as Atomic Betty.

Yeah, I'm thinking mid 90s at the very earliest. Assumeing tech stays roughly the same. Which considering what the quest's done so far is an assumption. I mostly put it out now because the Zeta Gundam side story got me motivated to do it. That and my assumption was that Gihren's Greed was kind of obscure due to never getting a English release. And I didn't want it to just sit there just because nobody else thought of it.
I would say that right now is a near perfect time for something of that degree of maturity. Especially as Zeta just won an Emmy and granted animation the prestige of doing so.
but I feel there is a danger of a major suspension of disbelief in regards to the second act where Richard and John gain conclusive proof of Joseph's actions, and Richard just kind of whines that they need to go to the police and doesn't take any action himself, regardless of the fact that they definitely have enough evidence to justify a warrant or an arrest. This could lower many people's opinions on Richard as a dumb enabler and could make the overall story seem very contrived.
Firstly this is meant to show John's devolution as he admires and tries to become more like Joseph, a key part of the narrative is Johns idolisation of Joseph. John, representing the media and press, slowly becoming more and more like the killer and focussing on him is meant to be a critique of the media's focus on the perpetrator over the victims in crimes and tragedies, their focus and idolisation on people like Dahmer, giving them the immortality and attention they desired while forgetting their victims. Eventually, just as John tries to become Joseph, people exposed to the media's constant infatuation of these monsters become copy cat killers, serial killer admirers etc etc, while the media itself becomes culpable and arguably just as guilty for encouraging Killers it focuses so much on during and after their sprees, just as John becomes culpable in encouraging Joseph by lavishing him with attention.
Richard is also a part of this, while the media focuses on these killers and psychoanalyses them and makes documentaries on them, so do they drive these killers on with the attention or inspire new ones. Just as Richard's criticisms gradually drive Joseph to greater and more brutal crimes against riskier victims.
Secondary, John intimidating Richard into silence was also meant to show how John has changed, and how his relationship has changed. In truth, Richard is now entangled with two serial killers. Even if John hasn't reached that point yet. Richard is meant to be scared and afraid and too cowardly to act. This is partly also a critique of the media and press as well, as reporters and film makers have been guilty of failing to try and alleviate suffering or interfere in crimes taking place out of fear, how many reporters, pundits and commentators have given scathing critiques of this or that politician, only to be afraid to speak against Putin or other dictators when in actual danger?
Perhaps John intimidating Joseph isn't enough and I leaned too much into the narrative and symbolism over the practical storytelling. If you have a solution I'd be happy to hear it and try to implement it.
Edit: Also I would be remiss if I took credit for the basic premise. The pitch was inspired by the dark horror satire movie 'Man Bites Dog'. It was an attempt to create a more serious, grounded version of that movie.
I wonder how the creator of metal gear is thinking of this because this gundam is so influential that he might actually make metal gear tech more like Gundam
I have a few more Horror Pitches I'm working on, let me know which ones you all find most interesting:
-The Spiral Down: About a woman who contracts a rare disease which slowly twists your body into a spiral shape, breaking your bones and crippling you before killing you, as she desperately tries to find a cure. Very very loosely inspired by Ito's Uzumaki, it's meant to examine the brutality of a terminal illness on the recipient.
-When I Stare: About a veteran whose sister is murdered by a gang of small time drug dealers. He stalks, psychologically and physically torments and eventually brutally murders them one by one as they, and their loved ones are broken down by the horrific experience, eventually the Veteran kills the family of a gang member who reformed, and continues on killing, having become nothing more. This was inspired by reactions to the Last of Us 2. The theme of revenge making us monsters was poorly done there, so I decided I wanted to try it.
-Burden of Succession: When a father dies from a mysterious terminal illness, the daughter who abandoned him returns to be confronted by the daughter who stayed. However it seems that the father may not be dead, and something more sinister may be behind the illness… This is mainly an exploration of the aftermath of grief and fear of hereditary diseases. In truth nothing supernatural is happening, in fact the disease that killed the father is a rare hereditary illness that turns the nervous system into semi-fungal spores that cause hallucinations. The daughters being haunted is actually the literal aftermath of their fathers illness. Eventually they overcome it, but it's hinted the daughter who stayed may be showing early signs of the illness herself.
-Those Beneath Us: When the government cancels a project to build underground housing for the homeless just a week after opening the first rooms, a young woman goes into the abandoned tunnels and housing systems looking for her missing brother. And find the horror below. This is a mix of the British horror Creep and the Australian horror, The Tunnels. I have the ending firmly in my head, the protagonist dies, but one of her friends escapes, wandering the streets she rants at people about the cannibalistic mutants that dwell below, growing in number, but is dismissed as a 'homeless crazy', showing peoples tendencies to ignore the homeless problem and homeless people until it's too late to help either.

Personally, i'd go for this one. From whet it sounds, it adresses an important issue, and combines it with the horror of the unknown and what may lurk beneath us. The ending is also a nice touch, as I've always felt that a true Horro is when you show something that can never be stopped in the end.
