EDIT: I've been given reason to believe that my getting a spam warning was a random bug that flared up, not someone deliberately resetting the spam filters to target my kind of post or something.

I am no longer feeling cranky about this. Thank you.

That the golden rule for a reply is 20 words or less?
...If so, then that is the biggest "fuck you" I have ever gotten, and in some ways the biggest "fuck you" i have ever seen a user get, from administrative figures on a message board.

And I've seen Mike Wong in action. Repeatedly.

Well here's hoping that studying Jaffur style gets us that last push for ki manipulation. We know that exceptional ki manipulation is a requirement for the style.

Well, you do tend to be rather wordy...

But seriously, ask the staff?
Yeah, I'm doing that.

And see, I get that I'm wordy.

But if the literal text of the reply wasn't "this is probably too long." Or "yeah, your habit of writing five 150-word paragraphs explaining your reasoning turns people off, you should have just asserted whatever you think and waited for them to disagree or ignore you."

They're saying "Your reply is very long and likely does not add anything to the thread..." and asking me to confirm "I am aware that replying to this thread may be considered spam"

That's a pretty insulting thing to hear, from the point of view of a guy who averages several Insightful upvotes a day, plus a score or so of likes.

I've got a fair amount of identity wrapped up in the idea that while I may have a lot to say, the things I have to say aren't worthless trash.

I am looking forward to the misfits training. Now that we know Multiform is not a secret there is no reason not to use it when training them. Give them all some personal attention.

It would be nondestructive. Maybe it paralyzes or something instead? It's something I could imagine one could do with Ki Healing if one were so inclined.
All right, but at that point it would no longer resemble a conventional beam attack. I suspect you couldn't use it to win a "beam-o-war," for example.

That is actually a very good idea.

Although, strictly speaking, they still outnumber us. It's, um... Jaron-Maya-Sophie-Gemma-Jennifer? So they outnumber us 5:3... actually wait, Maya counts as an instructor for this purpose... We have a 1:1 teacher-student ratio, at least until it's time to pair off and spar.

Okay, you had me at 1:1 teacher-student ratio.

WANT.

Well, there's your problem. :p

But more seriously, the fact that this was apparently a bug aside, I think you took such a message too personally. Which is more likely: the moderators and administers decided to slap you with some of warning, personally, or that you tripped an automated message on account of you regularly submitting long posts in a subforum that generally doesn't warrant them and is more the average poster does.

For said automated message, which is more likely: someone who posts long, detailed and insightful posts, or someone who spams the replies and contributes nothing of value?

Also if we are showing off Multiform to Maya there is less need to have our power level catch up that close. 3 of us at say 85-90% of her power should definitely be enough to be relevant and encourage her to improve.

I've never actually seen a true spammer who replicates my posting habits. It's too much work for them; it'd be too much work for me if not for long practice.

The reason I took it personally wasn't because I thought I was personally targeted, it's because I thought there was some new policy or something defining the kind of post I make as "probably spam." Since I don't actually see many people writing thousand word posts of true spam, this caused me to feel like the subject of unfair discrimination.

I no longer feel that way because I know that the problem was literally a hiccuping robot, not a robot programmed to behave in a certain way to scold people like me for doing something that we do regularly without hurting anyone.

Also if we are showing off Multiform to Maya there is less need to have our power level catch up that close. 3 of us at say 85-90% of her power should definitely be enough to be relevant and encourage her to improve.
I don't consider that to be an advantage or a disadvantage, but I do consider it to be true.

I like the idea of Karen crossing Maya at least once in a while, temporarily, because it feels to me like that kind of affectionate rivalry.

EDIT:
On an only vaguely related aside, I wonder what the action economy looks like for Maya Quest. At this point I almost find it more interesting to imagine than Jaffur Quest.

I expect that NPC have less actions then use, but they also don't have to do maintenance actions. That would be too much work.

Canon Omake: Writing Practice
Writing Practice

To my Lord and Father,

While many of this is something I have discussed with you in person or will discuss with you in the coming days, in an attempt to organise my own thoughts and to keep you upraised of my actions, I include here many of my plans as Scion. I also have several proposals for the coming year that may require your permission or benefit from your insight. I hope to capture many of those proposals in writing for inclusion into the official records in a future date.

To begin with, I would like to address the official actions I will undertake as the Scion this year. While ideally, I would work on polishing my skills to a higher level and learning of the political knowledge concerning our Houses with the Breaking of the Masquerade and the Invasion, this is a delicate time for our People. By now my skills are at an adequate level to assist you in your duties and while I have much to learn, hands-on training is what I need to increase my skills from their current level. As such, I fully intend to take you up on your offer for taking up official duties to both learn and help our people. While a bit unorthodox at my age, I believe that the crisis requires my full attention on both the saiyin and human sides of this equation and I shall do my best to live up to the expectations you have placed on me.

While I am aware that I am not required to take on this much responsibility at my age and I am also aware that the attack on my school has put my Masqued identity into the public spotlight and that there is no way to reverse that now. As such, I fully intend to use that to the best of my ability. I intend to leverage this, besides the through the negotiations with a slightly unorthodox idea. What would you think of introducing ki to the Garenhulders through the manner of a blog?

The idea comes from records of Ancestor Gohan considering something similar. He intended to publish a book called Ground-breaking Science to introduce the use of ki to the society of Earth at large. Of course, such an idea would not work in the same form on Garenhuld as the situations are truthfully very different, but I believe that the idea itself still has value. Rather than introducing Ki as a combat system but I intend to introduce it as just a life-changing idea that dramatically improves the value of one's life.

Due to my own views, I have a unique perspective on the use of ki which I believe will aid me in this endeavour and will help me set the tone of how ki is referred to for humanity. The Secret is out, but we can use this oppurtunity to mould how the use of qi is seen in society and at the same time disseminate the basics of qi manipulation through out the population. This increases the base power level of the planet which would work to lower casualties in the coming invasion and since it puts the focus on me, we can use to manipulate my public image to my liking. We can also use the blog to promote a philosophy closer to our personal agenda.

Politically, it will let us prepare for giving out the secret of qi as it is sure to come up during negotiations and while it is sure to cause chaos in the short-term, with the invasion eminent we can manipulate the chaos to our favour and end up on better situation compared to before.I would also prefer to run this through with my mother, as her teaching skill should help us improve the quality of the message and the teachings.

Besides the political worries, it will allow us to introduce qi as a tradition going back centuries as it actually is and reassure the Garenhulder's conservative tendencies while also cutting down on any potential discrimination towards ki-users that comes up.

In addition to this, I intend to begin training up my friends in the use of ki. The blog itself will allow me to reassure their parents, and it will spread an image of openness to the public. As Maya will also be training with us, it will both increase her training time and begin slowly introducing ki as a responsibility to her as she will undoubtedly be greatly involved with this in the future. From this, based on the situation at the end of the year there will be multiple methods for us to proceed further. On a personal note, it will make my friends more likely to survive any dangers from the invasion or simply due to association to myself.

The final piece on the agenda is the oncoming invasion. I feel like I need to address this somewhat. While I officially haven't done much regarding this besides organising theories for command for use in the battle, I am simply focusing on training to prepare as best as I can. While I have been focusing on its techniques for years now, I have finally begun official training in the Tien Style and hope to master to enough to help me by the time the invasion arrives.

Beyond that, I have begun focusing on my Seer training and will be spending extra time with Sensei in order to hone my Sight in the hopes that I might glean something for both the Invasion and the unknown threat that we have seen visions of. Specifically, perhaps due to an offshoot of my Sight I was able to sense the final nuke heading towards Tastreya with my Ki Sense. While possibly a fluke, I intend to attempt to harness this capability for the future. Besides the sheer usefulness of this ability, it might also allow us to pierce the Cloaking around the Invasion Fleet without relying on the Sight and depending upon the potential interactions with Instant Transmission, would let us engage them before they are able to land and minimize casualties.

I look forward to speaking with you on the specifics of these proposals, Father.

Regards,
Scion Kakara

This is a letter to her father written by Scion Kakara during the aftermath of the Breaking of the Masquerade. While seemingly formal, other records confirm that the Scion and Father shared a warm and informal relationship despite the chaos in the Sealing and thus the letter highlights the Scion's extreme resolve and rigid focus to her duties and training from a young age. It is likely the letter is simply practice for the Scion, either in order to acclimate to the formality in the Vegetan houses or the Garenhulder Governments. The letter takes an even more interesting twist when the reader recalls the conspiracy the Scion was involved in and considers the actions that are no doubt being taken under the surface.

Well, Maya's a major NPC so I imagine she has at least several actions. Wouldn't be surprised if "keep up in school" actually is a required maintenance action for her. Plus, I'm... sort of imagining her as a quest protagonist, so she'd be a PC in this context.

Part of it is just me imagining the hypothetical parallel universe where the voters have no damn clue they're in the Dragonball 'verse. Also, where they're agonizing over that most difficult of all choices to finally push the button on...

For what it's worth, I thoroughly enjoy your posts, lengthy as they are, and find them quite insightful as someone that hasn't as much experience with the Dragon Ball universe as some of you do.

To add to that, in general I like lengthy works (whether posts or fanfics or articles), and I'm fairly sure I'm not alone in that.

Well, she does waste a third of her day sleeping and probably another third on school related stuff. So the players were probably happy that hanging with Karen means training and social together. Since it is magical girl genre and they don't have to lead people I expect more focus on social.

Though come to think about it, Maya knows we are a seer. Should we tell her of our vision?

As for Papaya, I pictured her as male because I had played Fallout 3 just before I joined the quest so I was reading her with ThreeDog's voice.

Canon Omake: Transcendence Training
Transcendence Training
Kakara sat with her legs crossed in an isolated area of the Training Hall. She had been sitting here for a long time, long enough that her legs had fallen asleep and people had already begun to finish training and leave.

But her body was the last of her concern. Her mind couldn't be further from her Self. Instead, it was focused all around her. Her eyes were closed, her ears were covered but her ki sense was spread across the hall in an attempt to sense a specific source of energy.

The last of the people training were slowly powering down, so that they could easily blend into the crowd. With humans learning about ki, there was a certain level of paranoia among the saiyins and their control over ki was at least for now, even stricter than usual. These people however were only on the edge of Kakara's perception and she didn't really notice how they all glanced her way every time she sent pings of ki through the training room.

Instead, her focus was on the seemingly empty space in front of her. Space that should have been filled with an array of devices that she wanted to be able to sense. Instead, the space was just empty and she couldn't sense a thing.

The one time she did it was under an extreme situation.

It shouldn't have been possible, and even now it was fading back into that impossibility.

PING

She knew it should be impossible.

No one had ever done it before. For all she knew this was a wild goose chase, and it was just some side effect of her Sight.

Even now she was justifying it to herself.

Luck.

Fluke.

Delusions.

PING

She knew it would be hard.

Even if she was on the right track, it would take years to master it.

Years that she didn't have.

Years that could be used to help her people in so many better ways.

PING

She knew that she might never achieve it again.

Even if it was possible, even if it was hard, she might just get unlucky.

PING

She was Scion.

She had better things to do.

Maybe it was better to just write it down somewhere and let someone else figure it out.

Someone who actually had time to do this.

PING

But she was also Kakara.

Ki Sense was hers.

This discovery was hers.

This wasn't Master Roshi's discovery.

This wasn't an Ancestor's invention.

Not Goku, not Vegeta and not Grandpa Gohan's.

This was hers.

PING

ping

ping

ping

And she sensed it.

She saw the world, utterly and truly.

Not just the way she used to.

Not just the people.

Not just ants and the snakes and the frogs.

Everything.

This was her pow-

Hey Three, did you figure anything out?

And then it's gone.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo

A/N: Not completely sure how this turned out.

In Maya Quest, it doesn't occur to the players that sleeping is unusual. I forget how many bonus actions Kakara gets from traits, but a normalish person who has to sleep and can't be in three places at once might have, what, seven or eight actions? Maya spends two of them on school, probably, then the rest on other stuff. She may be doing things besides what we see her do, though mostly that would just be 'train.'

[boring minor NPCs have few actions in effect in this quest because the majority of their action economy is spend doing boring NPC stuff that doesn't directly affect us. Or such is my reasoning]

Though come to think about it, Maya knows we are a seer. Should we tell her of our vision?
That is... actually not a bad idea. Tell her that the aliens aren't the end of it. One way or another we'll beat the aliens, and I don't want Maya to get complacent after that.

They likely use most of their actions playing videogames or participating in quests.
Well, the thing is, "keeping your job" probably requires at least three action points from the average individual all by itself, because most jobs are relatively harder for most people than middle school is for our prodigy-supersmart-superproductive Kakara. "Keeping your family happy" probably requires ongoing action points for people who don't have quite as awesome a family as Kakara, or don't have Kakara's super-duper Communications skill. Because they keep needing to put active work into maintaining healthy relationships, it doesn't just... happen with them.

As a result, when you factor in routine necessary errands and tasks and stuff... simply not failing at life probably requires four or five action points a year even for reasonably talented people.

Now, Kakara gets sixteen actions. She gets one of those from A Cause, one from Ambitious, two from Hopeful, and two for Multiform. I don't THINK I missed any sources of action points, and if so, then 'by default' she would have ten. She almost never sleeps thanks to the Masque, so she's probably gaining at least three of those actions from never getting sleepy and never needing to spend time on it.

All in all, it's pretty easy to see how the action economy of a person with no special action-granting traits, and no superpowers, can be pretty heavily clogged up and leave them with only a few actions to spare on things that might be interesting from the point of view of a quest protagonist.

Don't forget, Kakara is extreme organiser who schedules everything and multitasks like hell. All while she abuses her superspeed as much as is healthy to do so. And has plenty of freedom.

Jaffur, according to Poptart, has 8 AP. And that's with him being constantly awake, and with Super Saiyan speeds. The average Saiyan could probably get up 6 if the followed the no-sleep schedule.
I don't THINK I missed any sources of action points, and if so, then 'by default' she would have ten.
You haven't, technically, but Poptart is on record that Kakara practices as many time-saving methods as physically and healthily possible. So her 10 AP is already at the extreme end of scale.

@PoptartProdigy , is there any mechanical benefit to the fact that canonically the Dodonpa was both stronger and faster than the Kamehameha? It doesn't really make sense for people to keep using the Kamehameha if it's outclassed in both areas (unless Dodonpa's really hard to aim or learn or something?) but it would be nice to keep that canon aspect.
