[x][ORDERS] Do as Dad said, and glue yourself to Jaron throughout the fight.

[x][IFF] Engage only those scouts which you can confirm as actively hostile.

Still having trouble deciding which aim we want. I'm gonna sit on it for a bit longer although I'm open to be convinced either way

[x][AIM] Forget the fight; make certain that the four scouts showing signs of trying to figure out what to do don't join the fight. Get them to surrender.

[X][Power level] Up your power level to 700,000.

This is Ki Projection, not Ki Control.

If the intent were to directly oppose force with force, you are correct that Projection would be the correct stat. However, the intent behind this is to guide attacks away from their targets, rather than trying to directly oppose the attacks.

It's a similar idea to shedding a blow from a shield, instead of directly blocking it, and is a core principle behind every 'soft' martial art I'm aware of. Doesn't seem to be a popular idea, tho, so I'll drop it.

It's still Ki Projection. Ki Control is internal energy efficiency and stamina. Ki Projection is anything to do with firing ki out from the body. Doesn't matter if it's blocking or parrying, firing a ki blast is firing a ki blast and thus falls under Ki Projection. Ki Control just means that firing those blasts is less tiring and consumes less ki.

I want to make some progress on pasifism. Fighting to protect should be alright.

How do we stick to Jaron and also ensure the scouts don't fight? That seems kind of contradictory, or at least counter-productive.

Note: I am assuming that 'get them to surrender' and 'protect Jaron' are not mutually exclusive. @PoptartProdigy , if that is not the case, then I think a lot of us need to know that. Can you clarify? Some people are wondering.

[][AIM] Request that some of Berra's reinforcements help protect civilians.
As noted, we don't have to. Dad already told them to.

[NOTE: I'm gonna use names for some of the scouts based off of Gore17's and my omakes in the discussions below, since they have been canonized as I recall]

Raising our power level to 700,000 seems reasonable. Maya won't be surprised that we're a moving target, but will still feel like she's ahead of us. Protecting Jaron will be significantly easier if we outclass all our enemies. Moreover... Remember the distribution of power levels among the scout squad.

One hundred thousand, two hundred thousand, two hundred and fifty, three-thirty, several at four hundred thousand and change, and one at five-

Sings-through-Murk(y-Water),* the squad leader, is that '100.' At the high end is a '500' acting as muscle for the leader, and the most powerful individual threat. There are at least three at power levels from 200 to 330 thousand, and at least three '450s' are effectively out of play (Trillar, the blue avian we convinced, and the two Lonabaran humans we convinced).

Four of the aliens are wavering; that leaves five who are likely to attack us. One is the '100' squad leader, a second is the '500'-level alien who clearly acts as muscle for the leader, described as "an alien with sallow green skin and a bulbous, scaly head. You think this one is female."

The other three could all be up in the 400-and-change range, but it seems more likely to me that their power levels are distributed between 200 and 400 thousand. If so, we may only have one or two opponents left who are capable of inflicting serious harm on Jaron quickly- power levels of 300,000 or lower aren't going to cut it. Given that Maya cancels out at least one of the strong aliens (unless she decides to attack the leader), if we go above 500,000, we're almost certainly going to be able to protect Jaron- and we've already got reinforcements to cover the civilians.

*Note: The Lonabarans just hear 'Murky Water' as 'Murk,' this is a translation convention and others should probably be using 'Songs-through-Murky-Water,' the name @Gore17 originally attributed to the alien leader.

However it is unlikely to hurt and might help.
We explained to Maya what willpower pushes are to explain last time we went above our limit. If you choose to power up, it should be on a situation that would require it to keep the lie consistent and we just got some reinforcements. Furthermore, we are on an equal footing with the strongest scout in their squad power level wise which means we should be able to defend against any stray attacks as we are. Our aims are either diplomacy or evacuating civilians which means we would not be involved in direct combat, our reinforcements should keep the scouts busy and with either option it makes no sense for them to attack us specifically since they have bigger things to worry about. Also, as far as both Maya and the scouts are concerned, super mechanic man can power up to a millón units and Meerak just confirmed via radio that he outclasses them all. Plus, we know OoC that we will win the fight regardless and Berra already assigned some exiles to help with the evacuation so it is not like we have to cover all the field.

So while I doubt it would tip our lie to Maya, why risk it when dad has the situation handled?

In this case, the explanation to Maya is more like "Maya? You know I've been practicing on my own too; you're not the only one who can raise her power level through training. My dad helps me, and even he still trains and practices new styles and techniques, too."

Maya's not going to be surprised if we turn out to have a bit more power in reserve than she thought we did, especially if it turns out to still leave her ahead of us.

Furthermore, we are on an equal footing with the strongest scout in their squad power level wise which means we should be able to defend against any stray attacks as we are. The biggest issue I foresee is that the scouts are still focused on us even if they have other problems. The ones still interested in fighting are the ones LEAST inclined to change their tactics in response to a changing situation, after all. We would be luckier than we deserve to get out of this without being attacked at all, and higher power levels will make it easier to deal with those attacks.

On the other hand, powering up before we are attacked could be interpreted as aggression by the four fence-sitters. So that much is true- and our current power level should ensure we can at least survive long enough to power up further as needed, rather than having to do it pre-emptively.

So while I doubt it would tip our lie to Maya, why risk it when dad has the situation handled?
I'm not worried about Maya, but I am worried a bit about the scouts' reaction now that you point it out.

I can see your point. Maybe we shouldn't power up further.
