Plan Plan Name is an awesome plan! It's got everything! Awkward flirting, beam attacks, possible difficult conversations with Daddy, increased chances of 'interesting' things happening, and Tag!

I get that it's a fun, oddball plan, but I don't want to use up more than 2 actions. I'd rather not risk Dad looking for us for too long.

Perhaps it will swing a few votes if we point out that playing tag not only does everything trading beams does better, but also lets us get an extra action in.

He's shown that he's willing to read her mind, which would be devastating here. A bit of a long shot, but she did go missing right after sending off a massive ki ping at the last known location of the Senzus. It'll certainly make him pay more attention to this area if anything happens in the future.
Besides, half the advantage of "Tag!" is turning the awkwardness of spending two years hunting him down into, "You're It!" That doesn't work after we've spent half an hour explaining that we want to do banal lessons with him for some reason.
Like, really, what's the advantage of the beam trade, especially in conjunction with it? The technique is redundant, we can already trivially master it, and playing tag provides all the same socializing and physicality without sucking down two actions.

Right, but beam-trading (which I like the symbolism of, but what do I know I guess) is 2; adding Tag to that is 3 actions, which is a larger risk.

The problem is that they both already know both beams, they just haven't practiced them. It's not a trade so much as, "Hey, let's practice these things we both already know but haven't bothered to put the work in to master, together."
Tag does have a potent personal symbolism of its own. It's what they played when they first met and she made him her first friend. They're not really dignataries exchanging formalities on behalf of their clans- they're old friends reunited.
