You know what fuck it, if Poptart decides that thinking about killing animals to relieve stress is in character for the pacifist super saiyn, that's their business.

Some people do not take cautious steps when reaching conclusions -- they take bold leaps!

Update's going in the text box, folks. Save your questions -- and alarmism -- for once I've edited and it's posted.

No alarmism here, just pointing out that you have final word on Kakara's characterization, so there's no point in worrying about how our discussions influence it.

I am going to ask you a question: Do you believe the course of argumentation you are pursuing at this point is beneficial to the healthy discourse of this thread?

I hope that this finally gets rid of hot bloodied.
I think it would take more than just this one incident to do that, and I'm not 100% opposed to the trait? There are times it's useful and it's certainly fitting for the setting.

Could we take examined life on it? I'm not clear on the requirements for that action.
Also remember that Examined Life isn't, like "make the traits 100% better every time". Not that it's a trap option, but Examining every single personality trait may not be a worthwhile investment...

I mean, I for one feel that character flaws make for more compelling characters even if it weren't fitting or useful. And that occasionally failing in the things you care about the most is very humanizing or, I suppose, very Saiyanizing.

If living up to your standards was as easy as having them, then we wouldn't need to grow up as we would already be perfect.

Back To School
[X] Write-In: Telepathically contact Grandma (Apra) about what Dazarel just informed us of. She should have a better idea of subtle assets that would be able to determine what Dandeer is doing.
-[X] Meanwhile, we take our butt to school so as to not arouse suspicion.

Back To School
You frown after the dragon, thinking about your options. The temptation to go confront Dandeer is there...but you're pretty sure that it would be a bad plan.

You just got done with Grandma telling you to hold off while she tells the others, after all.

You close your eyes and sigh, shifting into your Masque as you do, and open up a link to her. Grandma, it's me.

So I can hear, she says, distracted. What happened?

Dazarel told me something
, you say. Apparently, Dandeer is poking around the place where I just blew up a mountain. A lot of other sorcerers, too.

Really? she says, suddenly far more alert. Isn't that...interesting. Well, I don't know if we can believe the little monster, but I'll check it out in any event. She pauses; in the distant, you can feel her ki shifting into the kind of sense you get from somebody in flight. I'm surprised you didn't go to confront her yourself.

I don't trust myself right now, you say. And I don't want to deal with her anyway.

Fair. I don't want to deal with her. She laughs. Oh, and a quick update: Yammar is now informed, and demanding that we push up our plans as far as they'll go. Find an excuse to visit the Senzus soon, because Yammar wants a timeline on exactly how long it'll be before Jaffur can help us with his escape.

You nod, taking off and angling towards your school. I will.

Good. We're counting on you, Kakara. And with that, the link cuts.

You hum quietly to yourself. "That's not as helpful as you think, Grandma," you whisper.

Of course people are relying on you. Your whole civilization is relying on you in one way or another. And it's a lot of pressure.

Pressure, under which you don't always feel like you measure you. You glance towards the mountain you leveled.

You aren't Ancestor Vegeta. You know that, "casual," destruction never is. You said to Maya that you can feel the life on this planet -- you can.

You could feel it, when your blast snuffed out all the life on your mountain.

Of course, it's not something that's going to cripple you. You eat meat; you're smart enough to realize what that means. You felt countless small things getting snuffed out in the course of your fight with Dazarel. This isn't the first time; a human might not, but you realize exactly how many tiny insects fall prey to the simple act of you moving around. You hit a bird in flight, once.

Still, the longer time goes on, the more connected you feel to other lives, the more aware of them you are. And the feeling of all those lights flickering out never gets better. It was never something that occupied your attention front and center, but feeling the sudden void in the wake of your outburst brought it there. And, of course, once there...

You wince, remembering the feeling. A mile to your left, a fox kills something small and fluffy.

You purse your lips. You need to figure out a better way to handle this.

Goal Acquired: Acquire coping mechanisms for sensing death. Presently Insignificant, may/will increase.

* * *
You drag your speed down once you get within visual range of Horus Bay. Humans, you've learned, get unnerved when people phase into visibility right on top of them.

Thus, instead of a borderline-superluminal streak, you cruise in at a more measured pace, streaking through the skies over the city before swooping in for a landing at your school. You land in the yard right in front of your building, straighten your clothes, and head for the doors.

Immediately, the whispers start.

Your father pulled you from school for the week following the fight with Dazarel; he figured that you didn't need to have the distraction of dealing with humans while coming down from that rush. Thus, you haven't seen your classmates since the fight.

"-said he could feel the quakes-"

"-looks so calm now-"

"-think she could feel it too-?"

"-happened out there-?"

"-and aliens too, what else is out there to hurt us-"

"-incredible-"

Ah, as expected.

You sigh quietly. It was a little like this when the Masquerade first dropped. At least this time there are people saying positive things about you.

"Hey, Karen!"

A smile flickers across your face. You look across the yard, seeing Sophie trotting over to you, the rest of the Misfits trailing, as always, in her wake.

Well, more than five people, at least, you think, your smile breaking out into a grin. "Hey, Soph!"

You fall into the group, returning Sophie's immediate hug, and glance over to see if anybody's talking about anything interesting.

"And I'm saying that you get more speed if you keep your aura in!" says Jenny.

"Then what's even the point of it?" exclaims Gemma, uncharacteristically heated.

"Who said that there has to be a point?" says Jenny, crossing her arms.

"Hey, girls," you say, rolling your eyes.

"Yeah, hey," says Jenny. "Karen, back me up here!"

"What are you talking about?" you say.

"Flying," says Jaron, glancing around the yard.

"Oh, okay," you say. "Well, you see, Jenny's right-"

"Hah!"

"-technically right, but it's not perfect. You're more efficient if you can keep your aura in, but firing up gives you more power, so it depends on how good your control is..."

Without even discussing it, the six of you close ranks, letting the stares and whispers wash off of you as you head for the doors. Just like always.

Surprising nobody, school days are rather regimented affairs. What do you do once classes are over?

[ ] Hang around a bit.
-[ ] Your dad and you have a press conference in a week, but there's no harm in answering some questions now. Could be a decent ice breaker...
-[ ] You've been meaning to look into Drama Club for literal years, and there's a meeting tonight. The audition groups all have their tryouts at the start of the year, but the lowest groups let people just walk in.
-[ ] Talk to one of your teachers (write in subject).
-[ ] You're feeling vindictive. Torment one of Dandeer's spies in the school with some practical jokes. It's not like they're fast enough to have a hope of catching you.
-[ ] Visit the library (write in the focus of your search).
[ ] Just leave.
-[ ] Invite the Misfits over to your house to hang out, and maybe train later.
-[ ] Spend time with one of the Misfits (write in which here).
-[ ] Have that visit to the Senzus now, actually.
-[ ] Track down Dazarel. You have some questions for the twerp (write 'em in).
-[ ] Find Fennella.
-[ ] Find Tabe. You still need to thank him for teaching Grandma his trick. If he hadn't...
[ ] There are a literally dizzying array of things you might do. Feel free to write in something.
-[ ] Also feel free to write in subvotes for the above options, even where they aren't required.

APPROVAL VOTING. MANUAL MORATORIUM, WHICH WILL EXTEND WELL INTO THE DAY TOMORROW.

Here we go!

As a Thespian myself.... I have to go with this one.
Vote's still closed.

MANUAL MORATORIUM, WHICH WILL EXTEND WELL INTO THE DAY TOMORROW.

That said, gonna have to agree with drama club. We have been putting that off a lot, haven't we. Not as much as PM, of course, but still.

I do not want to invest in something rigid in the human side of things like Drama Club now that we aren't in a year mode. It's useful, but it's not something we can pick up whenever we want to. It's a commitment, and with the way our life goes commitments tend to be a touch problematic to keep up with.

@PoptartProdigy I can't remember with how things changed, but are we just doing these updates that cover what Kakara does for part of a day, or are we going to eventually get into slight time skips? Because while the content is interesting as always, the slow pacing makes me feel we will run the risk of getting sucked into Xander Quest progression speed (not that we'd ever actually get that slow, but the worry remains)

Time skips will happen, in practice, whenever I can find an excuse for them. Regular commitments that aren't interesting to write, long and uneventful training sessions where you don't tick over a skill up or make exceptional progress, a week where I just decide, "aaaaaaaand I'm deciding that nothing worth covering will be happening this week because this shit needs to keep moving."

Oh thank God.

So are we just in a phase of figuring out what Kakara does day to day in this new formate? Or are there actual things happening right now? I assume it can be both, but want to be sure.

And on an unrelated note, do our parents require that we have a formal education from the humans or that we just get an education? Because I'd think that time wise it might be more worthwhile to find tutors among the Saiyan population to teach us since it wouldn't take too high of a power level to be much more efficient in objective time and a custom built education would be more effective than the public education she currently gets. All it's really good for is being able to socialize with our friends some and being an official education on the human side of things.

There is a large group (me and people that agree with me). That want to break the seal before the week is out. If we working on that then we are not going to time skip.

Solution improve ki sense to the point that we can send things in the afterlife.

It seems odd that Kakara would only hear fragments. I would expect her to be able to hear everything in the school and beyond.p

This looks like a job for multiform. We are planning on using it more in order to train it.

I think these past updates are important enough to merit a visit to the Senju ASAP.

That said, I was slightly worried that Drama club might interfere with getting Sorcery lessons timewise... and then I remembered the Club would happen during the day and said lessons at night.

If Drama club interferes with something, it would be with Karen stuff: Misfits training and hanging out, conferences and such.

That said... is a week after fighting Dazzarel and while rumors are still hot the time for this? I am ok with Karen not letting what happened dominate her life but I can't help but imagine thereactions of what sounds like one of the smaller drama groups to KAREN, SAVIOR OF THE WORLD AND DESTRUCTION INCARNATE walking in and asking to join.

Huh, so we can sense death and it's slowly fucking us up.

Worrrying.

Welp, calm Kakara with the fact that dead does not mean gone? She's talking to her ancient ancestors like all the time. Life is just step one in the cycle of existence.
