Since we are speaking about future goals anyways, any ideas about what we want Karen to do/study in college?

My first thought was a medic but we should be able to leave at any moment to deal with an emergency and a doctor or therapist does not sound like something conductive to that (specially if we become a target of attack). Then I thought a reporter but with ki being revealed and aliens coming, odds are that we would be involved in the biggest news anyways and their aftermath and so we would be biased. Diplomat is something we could be... except that we are the princess to an independent state so no country would hire us for it. We might be able to do something ki related like formalising our role as defender of the planet or a disaster relief force but the second is kind of hard when the disaster could be a fight we would be involved in. We could be a teacher like mom but it still runs into the problem that we might have to leave at any moment which isn't fair to the students. Teaching ki to humans would be an option if there are saiyans doing it in other countries to ensure we don't give one an unfair advantage but I don't know if it is a wise idea. Scientist would be really stressing under the garenhuld limitations too.

It sounds like our best option would be as official defender and as negotiator to alien species and the future refugees at the moment but maybe I am missing something obvious.

Political Science with a minor in History? If we put a focus on military history, we can get some Command Training grinding in college, while learning how to best manage our Ladyship.

Or we could follow in Dad's footsteps and be a mechanic.

Medicine appeals to me. It should be a useful add on to our own ki healing capabilities, but it might be worthwhile studying biology in general.

We know ki can enhance healing, maybe with some practice we might movmove on to a degree of bio-manipulation.

Also, a grounding in genetics and human biology might let us research why saiyin do what they do, which would help in figuring out new transformations and even enhancing them.

Not a fan of medicine - it would take too much investment to do anything "cool" with it, when we have so many other priorities.

Our Garenhulder life is going to be defined by our position in a way that no other Lord's has been before. We should pick something respectable like political science/economics and be resigned to the fact that our "job" is going to be some sort of diplomat/Ambassador/Saiyan PR handler. An education is worthwhile, but it just doesn't make sense to get a regular job like it did for Berra to.

From what you've seen, do you really see the Garenhulders investigating something? Trying to learn something that had been Unknown?
I meant us. As in Kakara. Mind you, Saiyin Genome Project is probably too ambitious but it would interesting to do tests of our blood and body in all of our various forms.

Human Masque vs Saiyin Masque vs Oozaru vs normal

Then the effect of super saiyin on the different forms. Maybe compare everything with the other super saiyins we know and a normal base saiyin. It would be interesting to study the effects and might give us insights into the uses of the different forms.

I admit that I thought this would be easier for people to grasp.

Ah well. I gain nothing by trying to unravel this. Maybe we'll just assemble the to-do list organically over time after all. I shall revisit this tomorrow to judge once more what to do. The fact that I am still riding the accumulated chill from a week's stay in the Seven Hills and don't want to disrupt that is but one among many reasons for this. See you around later, everybody! I'm back. :D

Actually, a question if I may.

To wit....does baseball exist in Garenhould? Or at least in Exile society? And if so, how popular is it?

Not necessarily. Something can only be said to possess popularity if there are people who may form opinions regarding it. All that empty space is essentially invalid input. Doesn't count.

Actually, that's a good point.

What's your take on that? That there really only a total of 27 planets with intelligent life, or that there were only 27 planets with intelligent life worth looking into. Or that there were only 27 developed planets with intelligent life on them. Because going by Fighterz, Freeza used to give planets to the best of his men when they pleased him. But given that those planets were, well, genocided I am not sure if Whis would count the "governor" of a Freezer planet and the dozen members of his retinue on his big mostly empty planet.

That Super's probably not going to be 100% canon by the time I work through it all with a fine-toothed comb.

Because no, Whis, that's stupid, and worse, boring.

Alright, stock duly taken. I did not think assembling a grocery list would prove as taxing as it apparently did in this last vote. Welp, it didn't work out, no shame in moving on and leaving it behind.

We'll be assembling the list organically, over time. Writing the update!

Well, that's a relief. I was worried you'd have to deal with MfD-sized plans :p

Year 6: To A Peak
The vote kinda went screwy, so nobody won and we are assembling the to-do list as we go.

Year 6: To A Peak
News of the Year!

Hi folks yeah it's Papata make sure no humans are about we've brought you the news all year round and now it's time to break it down WE'RE ALIVE!

Where do I even start? We...we survived a dragon. Terrorists both human and saiyan made trouble. Every seer on the planet is nursing a headache fit to split their skull in half. And Scion Kakara reinvented the Genki Dama.

At this point, I for one just feel numb. Is it...is it really over? Do we just go back to our lives now? How can we do that? A monster out of legend tried to kill us all, and Scion Kakara turned it into a lizard the size of a house cat.

The world's changing, folks. Over the last year our society has changed in more ways than I can count. Tabe Stauber unveiling some new ki trick that lets an ordinary person hit like a super saiyan, the outside galaxy finally coming back to us, conspiracies, the Gokun Scion and the Vegetan Regent at each other's throats whenever they meet, a dragon, the kais-damned Genki Dama-!

There's a limit to how much I can break this down into something comprehensible. But I know to focus on one thing: if is weren't for Scion Kakara -- for Princess Kakara -- I wouldn't be here to feel confused about it in the first place. So thank you, Princess. You saved us all. I know that I speak for more people than just myself when I say that I know I owe you. Big time.

I guess that's the news, folks. I'm sure things will settle down, but...there's nothing I can say to follow what just happened. It's been a hell of a year. Here's hoping for a quieter one going forward. Papata Fren, signing off.

clik

frzhhhhhh-

You switch the radio off as the sound of the usual news program comes on, cheeks flaring red. It's been like that for the past couple of weeks, ever since you defeated Dazarel. People have been bowing to you wherever you go. Cultists have practically been kissing your footsteps. Vegetans have stopped calling you, "Lady Scion," as often, but only because half the time they're calling you, "Princess," instead. Completely absent irony! They mean it!

Miss Fren was definitely right about one thing -- it's a busy time to be alive.

That's never more apparent then when you look at your ever-increasing to-do list. The thing spills out the door, sometimes. You certainly don't lack for choice.

For today, though, you've given yourself time off. Off of the list, that is. You're still going to do things, obviously. But you're not going to structure it, for today at least.

Which just leaves deciding what to do.

Kakara has attended to all of the options presented in, "Completely Without Consequence," over the past week. The Misfits were awed at the scale of the described conflict and the technique you used (Jaron tried, unsuccessfully, not to be mad that you left him out of it); Sensei had and has a killer headache that is only slowly fading, but is otherwise fine; you and your father give a press conference to the human public in a week; the Exiles were as described above; you did not go unhugged for any length of time for a good two days once you went back home to your family; you have not found time or space to visit Jaffur in person. Yet.

It is in the early morning, on a Sunday (fuck it, using Earth days; it's convenient). Your schedule is clear, your mother is willing to allow you beyond her line of sight, and you have no responsibilities for today. Your time is yours.

What'cha doing?

[ ][JOB] "Sight training." Jaffur's been sitting for a week, and he has to be getting antsy. Time to get this off The List.
[ ][JOB] No, really, Sight training. Sensei's unavailable, but you've been getting visions pretty reliably lately, if rarely and with great effort.
-[ ][JOB] Specify type of vision sought and subject matter (i.e., "Presentsight, Tamar's status").
[ ][JOB] Talk to one (or more) of your friends!
[ ][JOB] Go catch up the Senzus on what the kais just happened.
[ ][JOB] Go train.
-[ ][JOB] How, where, and what (write it in)?
[ ][JOB] Write-in (this vote's pretty broad, folks. What kind of update do you most want to see, and what event chains do you feel like starting? Write it down and I'll serve it up).

As I above noted, the prior vote melted a bit and I decided to scrap it. We instead will be filling in priorities as we go.

HOWEVER.

There is one thing I do want to establish before we really get into things. What are Kakara's absolute top priorities?

These are not merely important goals. These are the goals and struggles that define Kakara. A critical priority like this is the sort of thing that, once failed, haunts the PC's thoughts to their grave -- and, given Dragon Ball cosmology, quite some time beyond. By default, thanks to, "A Cause," you have, "Undo the Sealing," as a Critical Goal. In addition, thanks to the trait's new, revised text, you cannot actually abort this goal.

But do you have any others of a similar magnitude?

[ ][GOALS] Yes.
-[ ][GOALS] Write them in,
-[ ][GOALS] item-by-item.
[ ][GOALS] No.

APPROVAL VOTING! TWO-HOUR MORATORIUM. THESE VOTES ARE NOW CLOSED.

With the end of the Action Points system, I've revised the text of the numerous entries that included notes on Action Points. This included me adding in new effects to compensate for the loss in value, so I encourage you to look over your character sheet to see which of those traits, abilities, and skills have shifted.

Finally, with my other commitments it's too much work for me to keep full character sheets for non-PC characters up to date, and I'm officially announcing that I'm no longer going to try to keep them current. I may in fact delete them at some point.

Good to see you all again, folks! See you around the thread. :D

Technically, Rome has 8 hills.

Also I think either talking to Jaffur or the Senzus is probably best. They are the one's out of the loop and probably really want some answers. Not to mention that our new status may change how the Plan goes off and we need to figure out any needed changes.

hmm

well I know one goal I'd like

"Achieve the Saiyan God and Super Saiyan God forms"
Only if you're okay with Kakara getting literally depressed if she fails, but yeah, you can do that for this one.
Technically, Rome has 8 hills.
Yet technically, nobody calls it the City of Eight Hills. Aesthetics first, in this case; seven is the convention, and it's that convention I'm borrowing.

Hm.

[][GOALS] Yes.
-[][GOALS] Rehabilitate Dazarel
-[][GOALS] Mend Relationship with Dandeer

Looks good to me.

Hmm.

Possible candidates for things that Kakara Really Cares About.

1) Reforming saiyan society to be less oriented around beatdowns, either in terms of the power structure or in terms of the mindset of the people.
2) Learning how to defeat the Enemy or laying groundwork for his defeat, while still avoiding detection by him.
3) Making (covert?) contact with the outside galaxy to see if there are other saiyans alive out there as Dazarel implied.
4) Recapturing lost technology, uplifting the Garenhulders, or other SCIENCE! oriented goals.

I'm pretty sure training priorities shouldn't be on this list, by the way.

Alright, stock duly taken. I did not think assembling a grocery list would prove as taxing as it apparently did in this last vote. Welp, it didn't work out, no shame in moving on and leaving it behind.
Assembling grocery lists is easy.

Being told to reformat them is mildly problematic.

Being told "anything on this list is something Kakara doesn't care about" makes it hard. Because that means throwing everything and the kitchen sink at the problem.

Hm.

Do you think it fair that Kakara end up a heartbroken, bitter old woman if she fails to accomplish these things in her life?
