Only now catching up to the thread after a while and seeing the last interlude.

Welp….rest in peace, Doofania.

I have no idea what to do now.
Hmmmm... I mean heres a question: Outside of complete autonomy, what did you want to do with Doofania? And see what you can turn from that into something else.

Holy shit, wait....There's been a lot of weather symbolism around Negaduck's coming, and he's having Liquidator attack us and we have Toons...And he has dip and crop dusters...Dip rain?
Thank god we have Bunkers and Anti-Aircraft Guns. Liquidator can't control dip thankfully; but it's still a very big risk to have any Toons outside that day.

The idea of complete autonomy was a big factor begin with, and I also just enjoyed/enjoy the idea of carving out and becoming a major sovereign power.

Unfortunately the Interlude seems to have sort of cut out any viable motivation or desire to create Doofania somewhere else or in a different way, to my disappointment.

There's still interdimensional conquest!

But honestly Doofania would have made a poor sovereign power, simply due to lacking the necessary resource extraction to fuel itself and being dependent on an interlinked economy to not collapse.

We can still technically achieve that by invading Drusselstein, as in that's a legitimate martial option we have.

Just reminding you all :V

Also, since the thread was necroed from oblivion, does anybody has any news or insights from secret Discord servers? Because now it feels that "rest in peace, Doofania" is applicable to DoofQuest as whole, too.

Or maybe Negaduck decided to go after dear authors directly?

Long story short, this semester was... rough for the QMs. One got a new job, another was taking a brutal course for his degree, and they also juggle multiple projects. DVV 4.0, which I also work on, has effectively stalled since we haven't been able to communicate with one another on it, I imagine it's also true for Doofquest.

Do to a variety of circumstances changing, they should be able to consistently get in touch again. I imagine we'll have the update schedule start up after a week or two, likely the next turn sometime in early January, though don't quote me on it, since I also feel we're gonna be trying to get the 4.0 Project up and running again they'll likely alternate what they work on til both are updating consistently.

Hey, since I may be planning to try and get Drusselstein in our pocket when I can, does anybody have any sort of template for making plans? Might as well be prepared for it

Honestly, the main thing there is you probably need Malf off the council at a minimum in the world where the thread is somehow convinced to invade Drusselstein. Since he is almost certainly going to take a massive loyalty malus there and even with the new perma loyalty boost option for him, we cannot tank that likely loss and keep him as a councilor in a sane world. Potentially not even as a hero with how much we'd be hitting his biggest hatred.

Taking Malf off the council is a bad idea; but you will need to explicitly manage Malf til he gets a Loyalty bonus large enough he can tank it.

Malf has the easiest way to get permanent Loyalty bonuses from his new Personal Action, but it will just be eating up a slot of Doofs personals to manage him like that.

Oh for sure, Malf is very useful on the council. I'm more just saying that I don't think its realistically possible to give Malf a large enough loyalty bonus to tank it in practice even if we spam it every turn. And at that point, the likely negative loyalty would cause enough issues that having him on council could be too high of a risk.

I just also think invading Drusselstein is a horrible idea for many reasons on top of that one and so its more of a thought experiment.

I mean the issue is taking him off council is a massive risk.

Replacing Councilors is always going to be a risky endeavor; but Malf and Janus are the two that'd take it the worst.

Yeah, it stands to reason that after saying to a person "I no longer trust you enough to be a Councilor" or "I decided that another person is more useful" they won't really like it.

Ludivine might have understood being replaced after Flubber incident, but she wouldn't have taken it well, still. Not to mention that nobody could have replaced her omni-bonus.

I think the other issue with removing Malf in particular is that I don't think we have anyone to actually replace him.

Like our next strongest occult people are Celina (who we wanted as a strong Occult person off the council), Kitsune (Is not really a council person, traits incentive throwing her on field work), then Tom and Russ (have ties to other groups and is absolutely not the latter's speciality), and then Janna.

Yeah, but if we reach the point where Malf is too risky to be a councilor from a massive loyalty hit despite our boosting option due to Drusselstein, he'd be running a risk on the normal hero side anyway I'd imagine. It was more elucidating why Drusselstein just isn't worth it.

To be fair while most of our councilors would be bad to drop (Mirage is the 2IC and very well suited for it, Ludivine and Malf are mechanically incentivized for it heavily, Janus' personality, etc), Goofy and to a lesser extent Wile are probably workable.

Wile isn't an amazing councilor while being someone who'd be a solid field agent, but our options for the Martial councilor spot are terrible for it (Khan is needed in the field, Lizzy would be awful for it, Norm needs to become a real boy and is better suited for covering a 2nd martial slot, Wasabi's trait is an issue for having him stand out from Wile, etc) so he's arguably our best option.

Goofy can and should go off council for awhile so that he can complete his university degree and generally do personals but is a good moral compass to have on the council if possible and fits there mechanically while likely having minimal issues with leaving for a term. Thankfully he should be pretty easily covered by Wendy who could do a term and bounce back to field use while being relatively interchangable as a councilor bonus wise.

Glad that this quest is active again. I really missed it.

I'm still sad that we ditched Flubber research completely after this. I really wanted to redeem its creator's reputation.
Flubber ran into two tragic issues

1. Ludivine didn't get to use Doofs Learning, meaning she was very likely to fail any roll on a very risky action she might randomly do and
2. Action Economy

I will say, my other alternative to trying to build Doofania in Danville is to try and become President via loophole abuses, but considering the world right now I'm not sure if that's something anybody would be comfortable doing sooo…
