Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

That was a bad situation. Extremely bad, and worse that Flechette had been ready for when she transferred to the city. Even with what had happened to Aegis to provoke her transfer, it had seemed like an outlier.

Apeiron nodded. Once again, not really a surprise that he was in the loop on that. Not with the quality of information security in the Brockton Bay PRT <<missing a period

"Yep." Apeiron said in a manner far too casually for someone in his position. "Though I regret to inform you that this exchange had knocked you down the queue." He grinned. "I'm afraid I have a prior contract of this nature that I'll need to see to before I can attend to your situation."
Y'know I wonder if this will be related to Gregor's situation back when he was talking to Fleet. Could be a good way to introduce that whole queue system by having a outside middle man.
Gregor nodded. "You wish for me to help manage the situation." He said. "I can do that. I am known by many Case 53s. They may not all heed my advice, but I will do what I can."

She triggered pulling a gun on the dude using her as a minesweeper. However educated she is now, something tells me 8 y o Hana didn't know how a gun worked in detail. So i figure it's more of a she has to know it exists to be able to get one and it has to comply with the local tech level.
honestly child soldiers are good at what they do. it's far from impossible that she knew about and could assemble a gun as quickly as a trained marine

Clearly Apeiron needs to go on a space whaling trip after Zion is dealt with :V
I mean, yes. Everything in Worm and Ward are effectively futile in the relative short term. We don't know if it will be centuries, or millennia, but the Entities are reproducing fast, and all too soon the not-quite-infinite multiverse of not-quite-infinite universes is gonna get really crowded. By that point we'd better hope they came up with a solution or it's going to be Oops, All Entities, and nobody will be happy with that.

Yeah, if they don't find the solution they are just going to pull what they were doing on their home planet on the entire multiverse. I forget how many entities there are per unit of area but I remember it being ridiculously dense already.

I believe there's a wog that says the odds of them running into another entity were really low and it would be like if you scattered a bag of marbles around Canada then dropped another marble from above and it hit one of the scattered ones. There's also Ward's Ziz pov which shows it'll be thousands of years till another gets to Earth which is why it was planning to cull humanity to 1 city so it would be able to remain active that long due to greatly simplifying it's precog models and hence lowering costs while also removing the need to fight.

Thing is though some people did some calculations and while that sounds like they aren't very densely populated that's actually insane because of how large space is. With them making more entities I think every cycle and how relatively short the cycles are in the grand scheme of things the universe doesn't have long.

I wonder what exactly Lily and Weld will say to the National Office. They have a partial confidentiality contract so the higher ups can't push for anything they do not talk about. However they can still extrapolate from information Lily and Weld will talk about.

Weld and Flechette will probably talk about the stranger shield Apeiron hid behind, maybe that Apeiron spoke with director Armstrong about the hostages, Apeiron can heal C53, Weld gave away his contract, Weld got a new contract because Good Deeds, Apeiron would have been willing to extend treatment contracts to more Case 53s if the local office hadn't blacklisted, someone else than Weld has already earned one such from Good Deeds, her power is one that can kill Endbringers, she's in the same cluster as March and Apeiron has defenses against peak tier annihilators.

They will probably not mention the three others key parahumans nor will they mention exactly how much importance Apeiron place on Flechette. Weld and Flechette both has valid reasons to downplay it or hid certain details to lure they where they might look at.

They can't have Weld hand over his newfound body material because its rented to him. It's possible that they will think that Apeiron want Flechette's help in killing Endbringers or another S class work if she mention that.
After all it couldn't possible any bigger than that right? /s

If she doesn't mention it that still does beg the question why Apeiron thought he needed to bring a Serious Apeiron Level Project to give to her for some unspecificed reason.

I think Flechette should mention her new toy, show it off a little, then say it wasn't anything to do with the contract just a trinket he made on a whim out of paper and ink. Her paper and ink.

Seriously, the PRT needs to start realising how badly they're underestimating Apeiron on an official level. Director Armstrong gets it, maybe Triumph is beginning to get it, but generally they're doing the three blind men and the elephant.

Actually, now I'm curious; would Dir. Armstrong's new lighter have allowed him to see past the "ignore me" field and watch the negotiations unfold?

Possibly? He would of course need to have been using it at the time. It would also need to consider him looking in benevolent, which it probably would. Also that he had the right to look in, which is entirely possible. He'd probably stand by the agreement if he was looking in because he would know Apeiron gave them this stuff for basically just being heroes and the confidentiality was for them.

If they realise how much they underestimate Apeiron then they and the rest of the world will react to it. To try make some a last attempt to whatever they can and that will do serious damage. That's why Apeiron need to make a show of force enough to cow the entire world combined.

Do not corner an idiot. They will think that have a chance and cause massive collateral damage in their desperate flailing.

To be fair to idiot, if your choice is between going down quietly or going down screaming and kicking, thats not a hard choice to make.
As long as their thinker predictions says that Apeiron is in a reactive stance and hold to himself they won't panic too much. I think the moment when Apeiron can go annihilate Slaughterhouse 9 in a show force they will be at the end of their ropes but still holding on what they think is his rules.

One of the problems though is they are going down fighting against the shinny new post scarcity society.

They are going to self destruct anyway soon enough tho because there's been Apeiron and March already plus the nine takedown is going to have Jack's power disabled and aside from the effects on all those Thinkers directly as they learn their minds were messed with there's no way their organisation won't be examined to look at changing it and mixing in non thinker analysts but in canon the mere announcement that they were going to be examined had over half of them flee the country because they are that corrupt.

Really this story is actually about Joe kinda vaguely looking in the PRTs direction and how that made it collapse like the house of cards it is. It's just taking a while.

I looking forward to when Uppercrust will let Agnus Court in on their secret. How he was healed, was granted an item and got issued a task to do.

"On that note, Agnus Court has reached out to inquire as to your status. I offered the standard assurances, though if the other branch heads are preparing to move…"

"Yes." Uppercrust rubbed his chin. "We may need to bring her into our confidence on this matter."

Yellowjack nodded. "Sooner rather than later, but for the moment I would advise observing the other branches for any signs of activity."
Maybe when the Celestial Forge strikes down S9 would they make preparations to let her know. It's a big move from him after all.
