Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

You high? Personal reality is FAIR AND BALANCED™ and was made specifically with this kind of limitations to screw over manchkins so they wont get for free too much stuff. Like storebots who can assemble any case to store stuff but since they making those out of thin air you cannon disassemble them to get free resources. Same for fuel station, fuel only for vehicles, no making Molotovs out of it.
Eh, he did get a volcano from Sky Forge instead of just the forge part, with the volcano part magically being stored away. I mean, unless stated otherwise, it's up to the writer how to manifest the power. It's specifically stated in some powers, but I don't see any limitations stated here. He opted out from the free size upgrade, so I call that as cowered out.

Consider, for a moment, just how fucking huge a Sol-class star is. 1.3 million and some odd Earths can fit into it. Sol is over 99.8% of the total mass in the overall solar system.

The Dyson Sphere gets to exist in a separate pocket dimension, because any other configuration needs ludicrous FTL and anti-gravity capabilities just to survive and traverse it. Better to just hand all that bs over to fiat and enjoy the power output.
Yeah, that's what I said.

If the Dyson Sphere was physically accessible, the necessary system that needed to let it run itself is a huge free upgrade.

I like thisbstory but it is taking forever to get to the parts I really wanna read like dealing either the elite and case 53s

I'm actually really looking forward to the charity auction. Mainly because (even though I know it's not super realistic, and that he's keeping their connection discreet for a reason), I'd love if Joe was actually there as a friend of Garment's.

Picture this; Joe is wearing a mask, or one of those steampunk-style head covers, and showing up as his YouTube alter-ego (because he wants to be there, and his YouTube self is actually kinda famous already, so that'd be an extra draw to the charity). He can't have a duplicate and him both show up, because in case of an emergency or something, or if the duplicates want to unmask (idk. Write-in reasoning here), it'd be kinda hard to explain where Joe's previously unknown twin came to be.

I mean, Garment is known to be living with someone, and in case of an emergency or to divert attention from Apherion and Garment's connection (or even to hide the connection between Joe and Garment, or to explain away Joe's recent changes... so many possibilities!), it would make sense not to outright deny the possibility of Joe being the one with the YouTube channel. It would explain where his extra income is coming from, and it could even be used as a pretext for him being so busy sometimes.

(Wow, tangent alert) What I mean is, it is my deepest desire to have Joe in the charity drive, as a minor celebrity this time, instead of fading into the background (because no way he's not there to support Garment and Survey's efforts), just... playing, interacting with people, discreetly helping... and suddenly, blam! Oh no! One of the models tripped on a stuffed animal inconspicuously laying on the floor! Whatever shall they do!

The poor model was one of the taller and suspiciously-similar-build-to-Joe-est ones, too! If only there was someone who could model it! Someone with a similar physique, good at posing, with a similar build (because Garment designed the clothes to fit the physique of said model). Someone with a knowledge of fashion, too!

*evil smile*

I doubt they'd sing, not without some thing to alter their voice, since while it wouldn't be easy, I think it wouldn't exactly require master-class skills to figure out that Joe and (Whatever the channels called) have similar voices once you hear him speak

Booo, get out of here with your logic! (Also, oh no, it would be so horrible if Joe was recognized as the talented musician who is making covers for Garment, and he got admiration and acknowledgement, and had to deal with fame in his civilian identity, too!)

(Listen, I want drama. But like, the petty kind. Get out of here with you end of the world this, and horrible consequences that.)

I'm kinda rooting for Joe to learn to deal with his fame in a more proactive way, and honestly, even if he isn't 'outed' as being the musician, having to deal with the fame in a controlled environment (in the charity auction) where he isn't the main attraction (that's Garment, and to a lesser extent, Survey), and therefore he has less eyes on him, and certainly less pressure, and having to act on the behalf or someone else he cares about (his duplicates)... Well, all that would result on him having to deal.

Idk man, I just feel like Joe being semi-famous would be pretty fun, and good for his character. It's not like the duplicates are infalible, and most people aren't that great as identifying voices. Heck, my mom regularly mixes up my sister and I when we send audios (voice recordings?) via the family chat.

Unless he gets photographed or recorded, he's unlikely to be that linked to his duplicates, and even if he was, music channels in YouTube are dime a dozen. The most significant thing about him would be his connection to Garment, really.

You high? Skyforge has nothing to do with a volcano. It's two separate perks. The Skyforge giving a volcano does not even make sense - imagine if Whiterun was in the mouth of the volcano. And the Volcano perk explicitly gives the whole magical volcano, not just effects of one.

Actually, it would make perfect sense for the songwriter working with Garment to wear a mask. She's a supposed case 53, and she has no clear attachments (we all know the unwritten rules are more about not getting caught than anything else, really). The exception being the artist collaborating with Garment. Even just being connected with a cape is bound to give him some fame. And well, he can always just write it off as being shy, wanting privacy or as a straight up gimmick. (And seeing Pariah's reaction... fun! ♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ)

....so....you are saying Boundless Music is the Daft Punk of Earth Bet? I can dig it.

EDIT: ohh. Imagine when they decide to retire. They can record themselves popping out of existence instead of self destructing!

Wait! You have a text to speech app that doesn't suck?
How?

Firefox Reader.

And it DOES Suck, but you can get used to it. Really, there isn't going to be an utterly amazing Reader app for every story, but it works rather well if you understand its foibles. And can enjoy the voice it uses rather then be annoyed by it.

Honestly, the healing will probably only take a paragraph. Negotiating healing Uppercrust will probably take a whole chapter.

So true. Still, it'll be nice to see exactly what is wrong. Medical stuff always fascinates me.

So, now in the course of watching a movie using the Survey method (supported by all the power of Apeiron and Co.), we can learn the original language at the native level, and get a couple of scientific degrees in other areas. I expect that when watching historical films there will be a development of this theme. Well, there, in passing, learn Old French, and Latin from the times of the early republic or Middle High German. And let no one leave our film screening uneducated.
I want a cinema like this in my city.

Ha, at this point the members of the Celestial Forge proper are all S-Class threats.

With the Titan Legion needing only time and an upgrade line to get there as well.

I'm quite looking forward to seeing what effects their external interactions will have on the city!

The main thing about this upgrade was that it was entirely conventional energy. It was power expressed through a physical medium without any of the little shortcuts or dimensional trickery that my technology used to skirt the laws of conventional physics. I wasn't relying on extra-universal pair collisions, manipulation of the intrinsic properties of matter, or exotic p
Shame, it being a font of magicka like the Elder Scrolls Sun would be even more hilariously op.

Is that how that works? I always thought that the sun (and other stars) were not so much fonts of magicka but holes between Mundus (Tamriel's plane) and Aetherius (The plane of the Gods) which the magicka just happened to leak through. I'm sure that if Joe figures out how to turn the star into a portal to a godly plane, he can extract magic from it too.

Not gonna repeat my previous post. tl;dr - Yay, character interactions!

Of particular note:
Tybalt craned his head to look at Survey's display screens, then turned to me and meowed a question while miming a firing stance. Expressions of concern were directed towards him from most of the Forge.
lol. Tybalt is such a cat.

And the scene with Garment... Ah, be still my heart.
Not sure why, exactly. Maybe because she's just such a good soul, but so limited in what she can communicate.
But this just... I literally teared up.

Thank you again for writing this.

P.S.
Considering Unnatural Skill with music could spill over into legitimately supernatural expressions, particularly when paired with other divine abilities, that was more of a challenge than you would expect. For instance, trying to play anything by Paganini without setting half the room on fire.
Another 'didn't see that coming, lol'd'.

Anyway, typos, et al.

Indeed. I was the one to write the Faultline omake and I still prefer Garment/Joe. Heck, even Accord ships it!

Ooooh, I wonder what Garment's response would be if Accord were to try and commission her? He's a villain, but he's also not a literal nazi or a slaver (wow, is the bar low), and he is a pretty strong thinker. Garment is also a spirit of fashion, and Joe's influence notwithstanding, she's bound to have at least a bit of orange-blue morality. Accord did design his cape's uniforms, and is very stringent on his designs. It would be interesting seeing Garment play with that; making modifications to the designs, seeing what she could or couldn't get away with... so many possibilities

The timeline in the story is Monday evening, April 25th 2011.

The summit at Somers Rock was Sunday evening so it's been 24 hours-ish.

Uppercrust gave it the "one day" rule and then sent the message.
Thanks for updating your timeline. The updates are now mirrored in the reference doc.

As mentioned the volcano is from Volcanic Forge. Also, I would like to note the text of the Dyson Sphere perk: "your Personal Reality is now hooked up to the full power of a Sol-Class Star encased in a Dyson Sphere" it doesn't say you have a Dyson Sphere it says your reality is hooked up to it's power.

You know, it's weird that MC could probably one punch Sion with all the powers he has, but still being cautious about somebody like Coil
Maybe? I think it's generally better to be cautious instead of throwing around as much power as possible though.

You know, sometimes I regret reading WoG as thoroughly as I do. I think this was one of those times, the reveal of using the Dyson Sphere to make Mantic Cores felt undercut by knowing about it in advance.

I don't know how it didn't occur to me that Garment would have the aspect of light but it fits really really well. I also liked that Garment wasn't just uncaring as to the impact of the Fallen London colors. I don't quite know why I thought she would be but I had that impression and I'm glad you subverted it. Joe really is growing to be more comfortable and to trust himself to make good decsisions more. I like it.

The bit at the end with Survey deciding to teach a crash course in Swedish was funny.

Rolls Analysis
Capstone (100): There was a 1/8 chance to roll Monstrous Strength which further enhances Unnatural Skills.
Magic (200): Magic requires at least 300 points.
Resources and Durability (300): Resources and Durability requires at least 400 points.
Vehicles (400): Vehicles only has 600 point perks remaining.

Gosh so many rolls without even a chance of getting perks.
