Pretty much. Asuka is confident she'll only get more... impressive, and loves to flaunt it already. That it turns Shinji's brain off is icing on the cake. She's very much looking forward to what she'll look like at 19. And so is Shinji.

Asuka's very happily anticipating that, too. She's already mentally mixed Gendo and Kaji together in her head to get the rough image: Tall, lean, broad-shouldered Shinji who is all hers. She already thinks he's plenty cute, and knowing he's very likely to grow up into something like her male ideal makes her wriggle happily.
Someone actually shared Shinji-as-Gendo (don't have the pic, corrupted on download). He looks pretty badass already (or at least moreso than in a school uniform).

Strangely enough, GNA may not be that weird. I mean, pilot-EVA synthesis? Well, when (in the Director's Cut version, I think) EVA-00 self-destructs, it briefly shapechanges into a giant Rei. Which could have been due to the soul inside, of course.

I agree, that why I am hoping Strypgia is going to keep the beginning of the invasion of NERV most the same as canon, mostly because I don't think a simply embrace between Shinji and Asuka is going to change that much and this is NGE there must TRAGEDY and broken people that's why we love it.
