The funny thing is, I've long suspected this but never found confirmation in any of my textbooks. And it was confirmed in a fucking evangelion thread.

Fun fact: it's also a really good cough medication. If you're allergic to Carbocysteine (like I am), this is your best bet. It's contraindicated for asthma (which I also have), but for some reason it hasn't triggered an attack from me (yet).

Right. I'm off by one methyl group. Work was not particularly pleasant (and my boss wants me to edit journals tonight so guess I'm doing overtime).

Probably similar to the odds of two particle accelerator physicists meeting, yet there's me and @grimlock. Had this story diverged before the Ramiel fight, there might have been a drawn out argument regarding the efficacy of positron beam weapons in an atmosphere.

Fun fact: if you're allergic to it, you're probably allergic to DMPS as well. I have some ideas why, but it's all unconfirmed.


My first hypothesis is that it's an allergy to sulfhydryl groups, or sulfur in general. But, as far as I remember, sulfur is essential in cysteine cycle, so that's probably not it.
My second theory is because DMPS tends to dimerize.
 
Well. THAT was a slog, but now I'm through the entire thread. Time to go into withdrawal. Well, either that, or read through the three tabs that have been opened due to this thread...

Fun fact, I've never watched NGE, and have no intentions to ever do it, but this is the third NGE fanfiction that I've read through and thoroughly enjoyed (with jake's DIRTT coming in fourth, since I read this on FF.net before starting on his)...

While I don't know everything about it, I like to think that I know most of the important parts due to TVTropes and the aforesaid fanfics. Also, I'm mostly in it for the WAFF.
 
I certainly understand your point of view, but I feel I can appreciate the WAFF all the more because of how much they suffer in canon.

My MatSci/MatE brethren! I'm sorry to hear that you failed your finals. I graduated a few weeks ago, but haven't found a job. Do not give up though! If MatE/MatSci is what you want to do, you will find a way to pass the next time around.

Ok, I was a biochem major for a couple years before switching, so the hard science aren't exactly terra incognita to me, but still...

It's worth a watch, especially if you've got things like A&T to armor you against the downbeat parts. You can easily watch the series up to the point I diverged with no ill effects, since the Kiss going wrong was kind of the start of the long downhill slope for everyone.

And you're hardly going to go into withdrawal. You should have seen that I've been pretty good about updating frequently. :p
In the meantime, have a nice WAFFy Evafic to tide you over. Then go read 'The 2nd Try' for more from Jimmy Wolk.

Also, just to keep you all paranoid, I had a thought while plotting moderate-future A&T events: "I wonder if this is what GRRM feels like all the time?"
