He doesn't like working with Gendo because he can barely stand the guy, but he was still 100% with his plan to completely twist Yui's original plan and destroy the world just to be reunited with her, he never even tried to make Gendo see reason despite Yui explicitly asking him to help Gendo so he won't go crazy.
Fuyutsuki utterly betrayed Yui. (and indirectly, Shinji)

Yep, that was the clue. I didn't really think about it, but it was probably set up as a "dead man's switch" which means it probably says something like "If you are getting this, I am dead. Save Rei." There wasn't time for anything else. Poor Maya really is going to panic.

Also I'll say that it really comes down to whether Gendo wants to keep Rei III around as a backup or to prevent her soul from merging with Rei IV, or if he thinks she is too compromised to live. If the latter, he may still have intended it to be slow, again, to prevent her from interfering with Lilith, or maybe Fuyutsuki tried to slow the process to give her a chance.

I think there's more suspense in Maya racing against time to save Rei rather than trying to contact the pilots. As a plus, that leaves the pilots reacting to an unexpected attack.

Speaking of the current situation, how do you think the battle against the Mass Production Evas will happen? My money is on Shinji and Asuka fighting them together.

I can say one thing for sure: Asuka will survive it; whether unscatched or not depends.

I can hardly wait regardless.

I like this fic.
  • It fixed most of my issues with Asuka from canon. This is a very difficult thing, but here it is.
  • And managed something I've never thought as even possible. Changed Tabris into actually likable character.
I have to admit this is really a big achievement

Also does Unit 01 have an S2 engine in this fic? I know Unit 03 does because of Bardiel, but IIRC Unit 01 never got the chance to eat Zeruel so it shouldn't have one. Doesn't that mean that SEELE can't use Unit 01 to pull off instrumentality?

Unit-01 never ate Zeruel's Core here, so nope. Unit-03 has one thanks to Bardiel leaving behind enough pieces the Eva held it together.

Miraculous makes a lot more sense once you notice it's just a French-set magical girl cover of Evangelion. Right down to the subordinate who has a crush on the Bad Guy who clings to his side for love.

Hikari snarled, her chest heaving like a blacksmith's bellows. She raised the severed head of the Mass Production Eva over her head and screamed at the battlefield. The severed head dripped hundreds of gallons of LCL and blood on Unit-03. It made no difference, the Evangelion was already covered head to toe in more. She roared another challenge. "ANYONE ELSE WANT TO FUCK WITH ME?! HUH?! EVERYONE'S A TOUGH GUY UNTIL I RIP YOUR SPINE OUT!"

Kensuke stopped shivering long enough to stick his head of their improvised shelter in the ruins of Misato's apartment building and take a look. He shouldn't have. There was nothing but blood, viscera, and Mass Production Eva pieces scattered everywhere. Here and there between them were the flattened APCs and tanks of the JSSDF units she'd dealt with first.

"Is... is she done?" Sayaka asked fearfully from deeper in their shelter. "She's been going for 20 minutes straight!"

"S...s...so much blood..." Kyoko mumbled from even further down. "Blood everywhere..."

"I... think so?" Kensuke ventured. "There's... there's no one left to fight. I can't even see Unit-02 anywhere."

"......K-ken-chan? Did... did our Class Rep just solo 9 Evangelions and an entire mechanized brigade of soldiers?" Sayaka asked worriedly.

Kensuke swallowed and nodded. "Um... yeah."

"Remind me to never annoy her ever again."

Hikari screamed like a berserker from the top of the hill overlooking Tokyo-3. "I AM THE BLOOD QUEEN! KNEEL BEFORE ME OR DIE!"

"Ever."

Holy shit, I didn't know whoever made Miraculous was an Evangelion fan!

Though the question is, if Gabriel is Gendo, which obviously makes Adrien Shinji, Emilie Yui, and Natalie Ritsuko, then who is everyone else? Most importantly, what role does Marinette have and who has Asuka's role? Maybe Marinette IS Asuka, but I can't be certain since her Tsundere behavior towards Chat seems to stem from the fact she doesn't know Chat and Adrien are the same person.

R (in normal soft tone): Hello boys....
MP Evas drop weapons, and all stand mouths agape looking at the bluenette.
Rei turns round , slorly undoes her bra while looking over her shoulder, one arm covering her chest modestly, other holds removed garment to the side, hanging it unfurled before dropping it.
R (STILL in normal quiet voice): "oooooops"
MP evas spout multigallons of LCL from noses, dispite not HAVING noses, before collapsing to the floor utterly defeated.

Meanwhile on an overlooking hillside, a couple on loungers share a bowl of popcorn.
The redhead womal looks at her husband.
R: "I rather like this worldline dear"

This is why you don't base the minds of techno-organic kaiju mecha on the mind of an eldritch alien in the body of a teenage boy going through puberty.

Definitely Asuka, red themed, tsundere traits... it doesn't show up that often but the temper shows up occasionally.
Although recent revelations make who Rei and Kaworu are... complicated.
