To try and be as short as possible, a set is considered countable if each element of that set can be paired with a unique natural number (or, in math lingo, if that set's cardinality is equal to the cardinality of some subset of the natural numbers; alternatively, a set X is countable if there exists a one-to-one function f that maps X to the set of natural numbers N). Thus, a set would be considered uncountable if it is impossible to pair each element with a unique natural number (the real numbers, for example, are uncountable).

In layman's terms, a set is countable if you can "count" all of its elements (even if said counting would take an infinite amount of time).
Thank you - this is definitely a clear explanation.
Because it was the initial condition, as stated here
Apologies, I must ditch the habit of reading the forum while half-asleep.

Gah, on a work day? Fortunately, it's not so long. ^^
Hm, sounds a bit "stiff", but looking at the English variant, it seems somewhat intentional?
If her eyes were screens, an hourglass would show.
:lol (Hourglasses still a thing though? Seems all about spinning circles these days)
Even for this world, having to tend to a drunken and depressed penguin was considered somewhat odd.
Just somewhat though...

A: "We were up to here last time?"
K: "Yes."
Flip (86)
S: "So she always knew."
R: "I imagine she of all people would have known this."
A: "Considering what happened to me, I'm not surprised."
E: "Do we know who this apparition is?"
Z: "I think they established it was Asuka, but after the end of the Laserdiscs."
H: "Not that we know how the Laserdiscs end."
K: "But separate to the Asuka that Shinji is in a relationship with."
E: "And yet, only Shinji can see her. Despite her interactions with the environment."
S: "Hang on, is this just covering her perspective?"
A: "Great, a recap."
Flip (87)
Z: "You were jealous?"
A: "As I would be. From her perspective, Shinji's going for the false Asuka."
S: "But in my head."
E: "Even though he just wanted to make things better for himself."
S: "Yeah, look how that ended up."
H: "Pretty much what we established earlier, then. The apparition of Asuka simply does not want Shinji to be happy."
A: "No shit, she wants him to be as miserable as she is."
R: "Considering just how mentally afflicted she would be from her... situation. It is almost understandable."
K: "And yet, Shinji did not experience this, at least to such an extent. He at least tried to change things for the better, not that it worked out."
Z: "Then again, what could this other Asuka do? She did come back, but with Shinji. Not as if she was the Asuka here."
R: "Rather unlike previous examples."
A: "Why did I come back and not get put in my other self like Shinji did? That happened in Wolk's work!"
S: "Maybe Kimigabuchi wanted to screw you over more."
Flip (88)
Rei grumbled.
A: "Jesus Christ."
Eliza simply gave a sad glance to Rei.
R: "I am fine. I... know it happened."
K: "...And that is where you decided to... stress him."
A: "...Just how much was my mind warped to think this was a good idea?"
Z: "I think it rather simple. You hate Shinji, for what happened. For what he did to you, and for how he apparently continued to slight you by going for this other Asuka."
S: "I mean... most of what happened is my fault. But I tried to fix things with my second chance."
E: "Except, to this Asuka, it wasn't her. Just her past self. One radically different to her current self."
H: "Which is why she... did this."
A: "...God damn it."
??? If I get this ordered right, sounds like it's skipping quite a bit? Granted, the first pages would really just be a retreat of something that just happened with a few extra lines, but still unfortunate, since it bookends 0 quite nicely. But even more of a shame that apparently another nice Ghost!Asuka encounter got skipped entirely and there would have been only 2, at most 3 panels changed for that to work within All Ages. Admittedly do like the added/extended stuff afterwards though.

The gathered were all rather off put by the imagery.
A: "No wonder."
E: "It would have... felt like that to you."
Z: "I'd say this imagery was rather... questionable, actually."
R: "It certainly does appear to be... rather violating."
A: "It is them completely eviscerating me. I'd say that would be violating."
H: "You don't seem too... off put by this."
A: "Sure it's disgusting and makes me want to throw this out the window, but I can tell it's analogy. An example that she is using to Shinji to convince both him and herself that he did this."
S: "...I'm sure it would be quite effective."
This one... is rather confusing. Sure, they pretty much had to replace the original page (which's despiction felt rather unnecessary there already). However, while they probably intended that to be young Asuka, within context of RT, she just looks like Kami-chan. If it's meant to be Kami-chan - well, that doesn't really make much sense, since Asuka doesn't even know her yet, let alone has any reason to imagine her in her own place.
I was even about to call this a clear mistake until I just re-checked it to be sure, and yeah, the explanation is likely that they apparently took young Asuka's design from the Manga for Kami-chan, and now again here for Asuka herself. Still, having two different characters look essentially the same in your work doesn't really seem the best idea (even more so, since they already used the Anime design for young Asuka before in RT1). Even less helped by the fact that we later get a similar POV shot with Kami-chan (under fortunately more cheerful circumstances). And I guess you could toy with the idea that she may be another incarnation of Asuka - but kinda unlikely given
that she addresses them as Mama and Papa and the end of After
(On another note, I think Asuka was to tear this page out rather than the next? Unless I messed up my counting?)
'Bout the only way this could get more fucked up was if God decided to come down from Heaven above and shit all over us!
Hey, don't talk about
"your" daughter
like that!

R: "But this is her reality now. Forever close but always distant to Shinji."
A: "Hell."
R: "An apt description."
A: "What the fuck do I do to deserve this kind of thing?!" Fist slammed on table, her fuming anger evident. "I just assumed she was just an apparition, but she is me?"
K: "An iteration of you. Having gone through countless cycles; constantly wearing you down, always holding hope out in front of you like a carrot on a stick. And then quashing it."
E: "No wonder you're like this."
A: "Even I would be like this after an indefinite number of these kinds of loops."
Z: "Jeez, and I thought Rei was fucked over."
R: "I was, but this... is quite extreme."
Aw, guess it's a sacrifice to the characters feels right now, but no comment on how the other Asuka sees her now? Even if it doesn't really amount to much, that was a bit of a surprise.

Daww @ the emotion engine emotional ending (always been a Nintendo guy ;P). But...
Of course, you can't hide these sorts of things forever. Not in this world.
Uh oh...

Hi everyone !

I'm not really keeping with the topic of the conversation, but I created this account because I really wanted to thank you, Strypgia for your story, I've wrote my own Eva fic partly because of you !

And since I'm basically here everyday reading what's been said, I thought I might as well have an account !

Welcome to the Sufficient Velocity Forum Advice & Trust thread. Complimentary WAFF will usually be provided on the house, but in the event of unexpected plot turbulence, you may be asked to provide your own.

In the post-2I world it is.
Unless you have one of those fancy Powerbooks like Misato :V

Yeah I thought that confusing as well, considering it would've been relatively easy to adapt those pages for the Non-H version. Though I suppose it was for pacing purposes.

This one... is rather confusing.

In retrospect, it really is. Of course, oversights like that are generally ignored by the crew when they're getting fucked over :V
And of course, they wouldn't know of Kami-chan as of yet. Though I wonder if they'll notice any similarities between the two.

(On another note, I think Asuka was to tear this page out rather than the next? Unless I messed up my counting?)

That was the intention, though yeah it can be a bit vague admittedly. Anything emboldened is a page flip, with the current page alongside. Makes all our lives easier.
Unless I forgot to account for a double page and left them all off by one like I did in my drafting :V

Dang, I should've added that :V

Maybe they didn't notice with all the trauma going on.

Thanks for continuing to proof this, I really appreciate it :D

I don't know about accounting for a double-page, but I think the page numbers do get messed up right at this scene.

Page 103 in my version is the page that shows the metaphor with child-Asuka being devoured by the MP Evas.

I'm assuming this is the page that Asuka tears out, leaving the next page 104.

Page 104 is the scene with Asuka beginning to enter Shinji's mind, intending to give him despair. The Chronicles reaction to this page is them questioning how Asuka even has that ability, so that appears to be correct.

Page 105 is empty of dialogue, and just shows Ghost Asuka following Shinji while he burns stuff. The reactions to this appear to match as well.

Page 106 is mainly Ghost Asuka watching Shinji, and beginning her commentary with "Concerning." The reactions to this appear to match up, too, with Zero Two expressing surprise that Ghost Asuka would be "concerned".

Page 107 is Ghost Asuka by herself, turning to look down at something in a field. Talking about how she saw Shinji's dream, a dream that could never come to be, a wish that could never be fulfilled.

Page 108 shows the actual scene of Shinji and Asuka sitting together happily, Asuka holding a baby. And yet, in Page 107 in the Chronicles reactions, they all appear to be reacting to THIS scene.

Did they just guess at what would be shown ?

Because the actual reaction to Page 108 seems like it could fit the page showing the child, and the reaction to page 109 seems to match up(commenting on how Ghost Asuka won't allow Shinji to dream, when the line "Don't you dare dream such useless dreams!" shows up on that page.)

So Apple never switched from PowerPC to x86 in Post-2I?

You never exactly know how 2I can affect things like computers. Maybe they decided to stick with PowerPC instead of switching architectures again, due to ripple effects from 2I. Possibly they bought out IBM and Motorola somehow and started developing the PowerPC processor in house. Perhaps the iMac G3 was the most popular consumer computer of the 2010s in the United States.

There's so many different directions you could go with something like this :V

Page 108 shows the actual scene of Shinji and Asuka sitting together happily, Asuka holding a baby. And yet, in Page 107 in the Chronicles reactions, they all appear to be reacting to THIS scene.

Did they just guess at what would be shown ?

More or less, thought it is an educated guess based on the scenery and dialogue in 107.

I had a look through the version I'm reading (which has the page numbers as the file names), and it appears they match up. So maybe I was being a bit vague with how I was writing that.

Alright, let's see if I can get some writing done for the next one!

How about a preview?

It almost physically hurt for Asuka to let go of Shinji's hand and leave his room. It did physically hurt as her wounded foot made its protests known for her stomping it earlier trying to distract herself. She let the pain fill her mind anyway. It was better to focus on her throbbing foot than revert to worrying about Shinji.

It also kept her mind partly off freaking out over what Rei had told her last night. 'My best friend is part ancient space alien, her boyfriend is too, and he's wobbling between suicidal and suppressing an urge to end the world personally. This is in addition too us already knowing our own Commander and his bosses each have their own plan to end the world. And someone tried to kill us all yesterday. If this weirdness keeps accelerating, I think I'll be a magical girl by next week, and Shinji will have turned into a lemur or something.'

'And my foot hurts.'

The long hike down the corridors of the hospital and up two floors to Kaworu's room did not put her in a better mood. As embarrasing as it would be, exchanging the crutches for a wheelchair was starting to feel attractive, especially if Rei was willing to push her. Asuka felt a bit of relief when they finally halted outside an isolated room with an intimidating security keypad on the door.

That was just something that popped into my head, I didn't mean it seriously, please be nice !

On a different topic, hi JimmyWolk ! I just finished The 2nd Try and I really liked it !
Looks like I joined just to be a fanboy !

If Rei can perceive that inner dialogue in any way, just for shits and giggles at some point in the future she should hide a lemur onesie in Asuka's closet and a (surprisingly well-tailored) magical girl outfit in Shinji's.

Bonus points if the magical girl outfit actually grants the wearer "magic powers" of some description.

Rei (especially one liberated from her slumber) that could read the narration in the same vein comic!Deadpool reads the yellow boxes would be either a very scare, or a very hilarious character.
