I hope it is paper. That would really make this an epic age.
I think we're talking about two diffrent things

with a few in Greenshore going to cultivate a certain kind of tree that produced a fragrant bark that could be dried and ground into an intensely flavourful spice

This is Cinnamon(?)

Along the way some of the other kinds of bark the trees produced were experimented with to see if anything relevant was within them, and while for the most part this just produced useless goop, a few of the alchemists were given ideas about ways to use some of the fibrous materials in the bark and various textiles

And this is potential paper.

On a scale of 1-10, how fucked does our war chief think our vanguard is going to be?

Estimate: 8 to 11.

...Well fuck D= How did they get so much Light Cav in so little time??? We took 2 of the Horde's, and the plague presumably took at least a couple...

They started with plenty, they're still mostly nomads so they generate Light Cav easier than even Martial, they developed tech that improves their Light Cav, and have invested pretty much everything into securing their new holdings and upping their scores.

Well damn :/ How does our war chief think our cav will stack up pound for pound? I assume we at least still have more prevalent chain maille and barding and maybe bigger horses still, but they have horse archers and generally better trained riders and better developed cav tactics?

Well look on the bright side. They are settling down which means that they have something that we can attack and they have to defend.

Hey @Academia Nut since you are here and may have missed this before. How many dudes/dudettes are we throwing around with +49ish martial from Mass Levy?

So I think we are going to be hammering the button for spiritbonded like a jeopardy player. As fast as we can and only once.

Umm, maybe it grows where we are and not India? Anyway, what other spice of that description comes from treebark, Max? In any case, not!India is probably a hell of a lot hotter than it is IRL given how geography is shifted.

I was thinking agarwood, as that can grow in certain parts of Ymar, albeit it's an incense rather than spice. Mastic certainly can grow in all our southern holdings, and it's both a spice and incense and other things beside.
Inner layers of birch are edible after treatment, and there's palm cores.

@Academia Nut, any of those in use by Ymar? Agarwood and mastic where worth thier weight in gold for much of history.

Fucking NOMADS.

Well this war at least has acceptable loot. We can take their horses.

Edit: And their cattle, and there metal and their bows. I don't really feel any moral problems with looting them.

Edit Edit: Forget the cattle. We want their civ to survive so that they remember.

Again, why couldn't cinnamon be present? Our southern territories are nearly (or are) tropical. Our core territories are approximately the same latitude as Sicily and Crete, which are just about subtropical themselves, so....

GO GO GO GO GO GO!

So, what kind of counter are we looking at? Do we just have to throw bodies at the problem and hope the Forhuch drown in oceans of blood, or is there some other way to win this?
