I'm not sure we've actually lost control of our grief. We've lost perception, but the choice of "numb but still there" makes me think more than our control is mostly unimpaired and we're mostly just going to be clumsy with it.
It happens at the end, so we wouldn't see it yet, but I think it's a reasonable extrapolation between what's seen here and the results during the fight with Kirika and Oriko, where our marbles dropped to the ground after the antimagic strike.

To be fair, we got hit directly back then. We weren't here, so it seems like only a brief debuff instead of "ow my limbs what are muscles" and everything going limp.

Oh, hell. We didn't catch people's witch names before we left. I really hope that that doesn't end up fucking us over if this turns out to be an evil-clone situation. Or if it turns out to be someone with shape-changing powers. I guess it just didn't make it into the vote in time for @Firnagzen to catch and include it. :/

She only missed because of a panicked split second dodge on Sabrina's part-
Exactly. Lazerguca had all the time she wanted to aim, and we had half the time to dodge. Now we're paying attention to where the shots are coming from and harassing her, meaning she has less time to aim and we have twice the time to dodge. We can only become more accurate as she loses accuracy.

This would be the perfect moment to use a railgun.

Too bad we never tested one.

Err... I'm pretty sure things haven't quite escalated to a point we're willing to brutalize anyone here.
...uh, what? They just shot at us while we were at altitude. That's only non-lethal because we're meguca

Likewise, pulping their meat suit isn't a huge deal, and we could vary the projectile size to minimize the damage anyway.

Shooting us with an anti magic shot that probably would've non-lethally taken us out rather then splatter or kill us. We have a thief that non-lethally took down Niko (and didn't even draw blood). We don't need to escalate this yet.

It's not like blowing a hole in her chest is lethal, either. It probably would be tough to be sure we didn't clip their Gem, though...ah well, guess it'll have to wait until someone gets serious with us.

Not with a populated city as our backstop. We're trying to avoid knocking down any buildings right now.

Anyway, railguns are obsolete in the face of grief-saboted telekinetic projectiles. :p
Both of these are excellent objections.

Blowing a hole in someone's chest may not be lethal, but it is brutal, painful, and psychologically distressing even without considering that it leads to the lichbomb.

If we can wrap someone in a ribbons or a net, or contain them in a rigid grief construct, we have decent odds of taking them out of action without resorting to either grievous wounds or de-gemming. Not perfect, and it depends on what options they have available, but decent.

@Firnagzen, do we have the witchy windshield on?
Yes
This is pretty accurate! Homebase -Mirai's teddy bear museum- is somewhat more to the east, but otherwise accurate.
We've got a search going on. We already told Mami and Sayaka that they probably will miss school; this could take many hours.

... What time is it, by the way? It was around four when we woke up, don't know about now. @Firnagzen
It's 6AM, give or take a bit. I might have to go back and adjust the sunrise - thinking about it, the sun should be solidly above the horizon for that time of year...
ow my limbs what are muscles
If you like, it's the feeling when you've slept on your arm and you can't feel it properly.

You and I seem to be coming to different conclusions. Instant dodges can screw with even good aiming.

-[x] Track - hose her down with trackable ribbon fragments, fast-setup grief sensors, magic sense, mark one eyeball, Mami probably has some tricks or is just that good, etc
-[x] Harass - Flash-blind with lasers, microwave and coherent-acoustic emitters to distract, tangle bullets (mami rifle or grief launching), etc
-[x] Set up - Take an opportunity (dazzled, stunned, she goes inside and we can fly right over her) to get front and push the chase in another direction. Don't let her lead you around by the nose.

-[X] Jump out. Use the smallest amount of grief possible to keep us airborne - and non-witchy camo if we can spare the attention
-[X] Remotely operate the MOF and have the Obrez on standby nearby, in case we get hit by AM.
-[X] Wide laser beam set to "Temporarily Blind". Pulse it in the direction the shot came from, to help suppress them
-[X] Prepare more lethal lasers in case they aren't dissuaded by the stunbeams.

-[X] try to corral them away from the more populous areas, to reduce casualties.
-[X] Await reinforcements from Sayaka/Saki, then apprehend the threat
-[X] Attempt to get positive ID on the hostile actor and ascertain if she's alone or not.

@Firnagzen, tracking witch names was mentioned in the vote, but it wasn't in the update? Did you miss it or was that line inserted too late?
I missed that, yeah. Hmm. I'll do an edit tomorrow, but suffice it to say that knowing the Witch names now won't change much (but lets you verify in the future, yes).

No such thing as an instant dodge. And we can duplicate the dodge as many times as we need to while the sniper needs time to replicate the aim on that shot.

Trust me, I've been through military shooting courses, and your first shot is always the easiest to land a hit (assuming the weapons system isn't perfectly new to you, which obviously oughtn't be a problem here).
