I would like to bring the attention of the thread to an edit in the last story post, made at my request, in the mid battle chat between Cynthia and Mitsuba.
@PoptartProdigy , may I request a comparable edit?

I think Mitsuba's answer to "Besides, I want to be known as a scholar, not a fighter" would be "You can do both!" or something along those lines. She's very much an ambition-positive character, and sees nothing wrong with wanting to be good at two things.

You should try and expand this it makes a nice Omake.
I already am.

I can add that, sure. I think I'll limit you two to one edit per character appearance after the fact, though. ;)

To be sure.

I'd have been happy to contribute more to the creation process, if time and circumstance had permitted. I offered. And I was satisfied with the dialogue as a whole, didn't want to poke and fiddle.

But once Cynthia's line changed... well.

The "wake up and smell the coffee, honey, you're making yourself famous just by putting up a fight like this" reaction just... It fits in with a lot of characters, and I suspect it's a very natural thing for you to write a character saying because it's a very Poptart thing to say. Sort of like how you have multiple good father figures in this quest saying "I don't speak Whine," which I suspect is also a very Poptart thing to say.

It just... isn't quite Mitsuba. She's an analytical thinker, but she's not that kind of analytical thinker.

Yeah, schedules misaligned. I was not going to be available for this particular weekend.

I mean, I'd touch base with you two on everything, but end of the day, I need the update out before I need exact verisimilitude, and the schedule would have had many, many days of delay if I'd waited for all three of us to be available -- my own schedule being the biggest issue. I will make sure to touch base whenever possible, though. :)

Oh, I knew that it would happen when I said I didn't have time to collaborate if you wanted to get the update out promptly. But Cynthia is a person and persons have many sides, it's entirely possible for "Cynthia as written by Poptart" to be just another facet of her even though most of the time she's "Cynthia as written by Aranfan".

On the other hand, how many people who recognize the name Robert Ballard, recognize it for finding the Titanic... and how many recognize it for the discovery of hydrothermal vents?

The second is a vastly more important discovery than the first, but I doubt it's what he's going to be remembered for.

Well, I am normally available to set up a collaboration (say, in a Googledoc) and hammer things out over a couple of days, but not everyone else always is, so that's a good point.

On the other hand...

Mitsuba:

"I don't know who Robert Ballard is, but I do know that when you're famous, more people pick up your books. And if you're worried about a hundred years from now... well, the kind of fame from writing a book seems to fade slower than the kind of fame that comes from punching people. I couldn't tell you the names of every competitive sport champion active a hundred and fifty years ago, but I could tell you the name of just about every major chronicler who was working on putting the oral histories down in writing."

Saiyans remember. It's probably the opposite for them.

An illegal one, too!

Not really. Like I said, a proper bookie had no skin in the game and doesn't care who wins. At most, her seer ability would improve her ability to set initial odds, but that's a small part of the loses of any game with decent volume and the others would just start copying her initial odds anyway. I'm thinking mostly of her combination of social skills, mental math talents, and enforcement capability.

She'd be an illegal as hell gambler.

Seers, as has been noted before, are free to make bets insofar as we're aware. They are not free to involve themselves in the setting of bets, otherwise no one would bet against them.

If kakara does go into the gambling world it will be a bit awkward for cynthia to explain what caused the change when she goes back to work.

That's backwards. Bookies don't care who wins, gamblers do. A seer serving as a bookie should present no issues at all.
No one is willing to bet against the odds a Seer predicts.
Gambling is done through designated offices, and people can either bet against the house's odds (which works as normal) or by registering personal bets with the house as arbitrator to ensure that each side holds up their end of the bargain (in which case the house takes a slice). As for seers, there are no restrictions on their participation, although the house pledges not to resort to them since otherwise nobody would bet against the odds. Otherwise, the general sentiment is that anybody dumb enough to make a bet with a seer deserves the loss of money.

[X][CHAT] Fennella

She's our friend but she's barely gotten any screentime. We should hang out with her more.

I would hesitate to assume that this remains entirely the case when you hybridize the bejeebers out of them, as the Garenhuld Exiles have.
Ah, but they take great cultural pride in being "Saiyans" and have a culture that revolves around fighting.

Anyway, just remember we're not keeping multiform a secret anymore. Time to get our talk on!

[X][CHAT] Multiform, Go!
-[X] Cynthia Balor. She's nice, you remember, and you'd have fun catching up.
-[X] Mitsuba Roma. You've heard a lot about her, and since you and Dad both want her on the force, you figure you should get to know her.
-[X] Fennella Peat. She's your friend, so you want to spend some time with her.

[X][CHAT] Write-in. Berra. Maybe you're reading too far into it, but you're a little worried about your dad's condition. Is it just nerves, or something more?
