As I recall, we didn't go with catamarans to get into ramming fights. We went with them to use as speedy, stable troop transports which we could use to leverage our compound bows and eventually siege weapons.

Being rammed in general should spell disaster for a catamaran tbh. They're just not suited for ramming warfare - they're usually speedsters, most useful for carrying high-value low-volume goods. Longships of various sorts are better at carrying more normal goods - ordinary Greek-style point-nosed galleys are probably the best examples I can think of.
ehhhh
I mean they're speedsters who probably won't be rammed at all and are even less likely to be rammed from the side, have hulls too narrow and light for rear-ramming to be likely to connect, and even if they are rammed the deck + the other catamaran means that the boat will still float even if the other hull completely fills with water.

Does mean it will be somewhat dead in the water until they get the deck off the working hull, though.

We have evidence that he/she does exist with the advanced warning we have of the Highlanders.

It's not "real evidence" but it certainly has weight.

The problem is that a Shadow King is the least likely explanation for this (regardless of what a courtier thinks.) It's way, WAY more likely that we have multiple criminal organizations, and that the Shadow King is an overly convenient explanation for a complex corruption issue.

@Academia Nut What does our Heroic Admin think about a Shadow King? How would he rank the corruption in our cities?

They're*

That is so rediculous it verges on nonsense. Let's look at the American Mafia of the the twenties and thirties. They did a lot of community good such as food kitchens, youth programs, and community outreach. They also murdered people in their beds, ran protection rackets on businesses, and participated in human trafficking.

Legalizing crime because it is easier is the height of stupidity.
The US government was paying off the mafia in WW2 to not interfere with shipments. Anyways no matter what we do we will not be able to effectively administer Redshore from Valleyhome properly so a faster local administration that can focus on the needs of the city is whats needed. Not all cities will be this troublesome only port cities and our only other port is the site for a Governor's Palace so that's mitigated. Also besides causing trouble for the Trelli(slavers) and consistenty helping us out when have they ever concretely caused us problems?

if we absorbed them, they're available immediately
if we killed them... depends on if they're razed probably right?
Depends on the wonder. Something like the Games wouldn't survive absorption or other types of cultural dissolution. Likely the Greater Sacred Forest wouldn't survive either, simply because of the knowledge and skills needed to maintain it wouldn't translate to a new administration.

Pyramids? Well, yeah.

My question was more about legacies which aren't as valuable as wonders but are easier to get and are much more of a concept than a physical thing.

This pretty much.

We just said no to the whole ramming business because we can get to the next step which actually leveraged our advantages.

And with the NTP and Grand Docks, we will get pitch, and our speed will drop much much less over time. So there goes one of the main problems, and it short circuits the Trelli ability to ram us.

(I am mildly confused why the heck we are even freaking out about them right now. War is rather unlikely with them right now)

No, I was looking for the Forestry Schedule.
Do we get +1 Forest next turn, or the turn after?
Oh! That doesn't exist yet. We have to keep track ourselves. Should be next turn since we have been sitting on 16 since the Stallions.

I can take this, would rather we ditch the DB before it really fucks us, but we can probably mitigate it if we play friendly like from here on. Ymaryn Good guys will prevail!

If they're fitted with nose rams, a larger galley can probably just split one of the hulls in half.

Jesus Christ man. The fact that the US government had to pay them off is not a point in your favor. And howbout the fact that any shadow organization is certainly skimming off the top of our wealth, and that they may do something we don't want.

Im not even talki about free cities, I'm taking about the shadow organization you just said we should simply legalize.

Catamarans aren't good at ramming, but they're actually quite resistant to being rammed. A typical ram of a catamaran is far less likely to render it completely unseaworthy. Ramming from front or back is almost harmless, and ramming from the side will make one of your hulls leak. Which will still leave you floating and able to make it home.

On top of that, they're close to twice the speed of the proposed rammer... which means they only get rammed if they make a big mistake.

Wasn't there a thing that if someone destroyed the People the forests themselves would revolt and burn the ones who did it in revenge? Literally though without being managed a forest fire would go out of control and spread throughout our land.

All I'm saying is we need to set up a local govenrment to focus on its needs either way.

Is that because they're quite light? I'd think a rammer would tend to push them back rather than break them.

A trireme crew would also get tired pretty quick since their primary propulsion method is rowing. They can propel themselves at great speed temporarily.

Since we will outnumber them, they can't ram all of us even if they could.
