*stops cackling for a moment to vote* Ah, this is great.

Was a bit uncertain on the diplomacy front, but I'd like to set up the NTP at some point and this seems a good opportunity. As for the PttS place, going for Black Mirror because it's a more central northern location than Horse Valley. Should impact more of the north than Horse Valley would and easier to access for more people.

*goes back to cackling at the Doom Comet and the sounds of various negaverses screaming bullshit*

It's pretty cool how both of our Mercenary Companies were built off the backs of our Heroes.
It really helps to paint them as professional organizations for the Best of the Best, instead of just as a way to kill people for money like the Trelli use theirs.
Of course!

They are our elite stompy Armies of Doom!

Nothing but the best for them. :V

Bleh, going out now, have fun guys.

Thats not how traffic works? By increasing the demand at a nexus of trade, you can exert cosmopolitan cultural influence over a greater area than putting a high demand location at a remote place. People visit Blackriver from all across the country, then go home to tell everyone that this is what it means to be Ymaryn.

People won't visit Horse Valley unless they live in three specific provinces, or are the top 1% of the population that can afford a months long journey out of personal interest.
Shouldn't it be more important to put the PttS in the place that it will work to it's maximum effect than the place where it can be most easily traveled to?

The people who will be primarily using this place are our Priests, who can afford to be shipped over to Horse Valley for research.

It shouldn't matter how accessible it is to the common people, as we aren't building it for them to come see the stars. We're building this to improve our priests' astrology/astronomy skills.

Changing to secure the diplomatic front, and because I'm more interested in the mathematics involved in astronomy than I am in the spirituality of it. Don't get me wrong, as we just saw- spirituality can have enormous ramifications, but I'm in it for the calendars and the navigational tools.

Things I'm looking forward to possibly seeing next turn:
  • Getting a 4th True City, and upgrading it to our first Free City.
  • Free sort-of Influence Subordinates action from colonies absorbing Population Boom
  • Actual Influence Subordinates action
  • Getting a 9th province, and therefore receiving both a secondary Guild action and a normal secondary action.
  • Having our provinces build roads, either though our passive or active policies.
  • Getting a golden age.

[Х] [Conq] Push to the East (Gain all previously listed territories, forces actively fight with surviving Mountain Horse cities, -8 Econ and 8 temporary Econ damage from supporting wrecked vassals and distant war missions)

Who cares about a "greater area" when the issue is that the NORTH is culturally distinct. Blackriver is already a nexus of trade and thus already has demand and already has a cosmopolitan culture. Stonepen i.e. Horse Valley has no demand because it is not a nexus of trade. It needs an increase in travelers to stop being localized and thus prone to social fracturing from everywhere else.

"a months long journey" my ass. Catamaran to Redshore, the famed city. Longship up the canal. Ride a Horse to horse valley. If they care about astronomy they'll visit it during the long pilgrimage to Sacred Forest; if they don't care they're not going to visit Blackriver either.

the part of the north that isn't problematic and already has easy access to trade and thus less rurality

unlike the less accessible, far more ignored rest of the north and the culturally distinct Heaven's Hawks

Places to the Stars were usually major cultural nexus for their regions. Stonehenge spawned an early settlement near it to serve the common people traveling there to consult the priests.

Not that either side is bad or anything.
But I rank the unity of the Western Wall as being a fair chunk more important that the unity of the Heaven's Hawks.
We can Integrate one and not the other.

Screw it, I want to give Stonepen something nice. And hey, maybe it won't put our RA in the red this way since it's less awe inspiring.

Oh hey, I noticed that we have Bronze Plate armor now too. Probably for elites.
Yeah, I think it was noted that Khemetri Full Plate was actually better than our Iron Scale Mail, so we probably still have most of our units in Iron Scale while having our Chariot Riders and Generals using the Bronze Full Plate.

ah, yes, the unity of far flung WW colony vs the unity of the more condensed, militaristic, constantly integrating nomads Heaven's hawks.

i.e., the latter is more important and far easier to impact.

we can integrate both of them, and are less likely to integrate the HH due to the service they provide in protecting us. The colony exists to be integrated.
@Glassware still voting for Black Mirror

About once every ten years it gets updated.

It's stretching my suspension of disbelief quite a bit that they managed to predict this with such precision when we today still mess up very often when we try to let something go down in a controlled fashion that we shot up ourselves.

[X] [Conq] Take the northern lowlands (Thunder Speakers become vassal, Txolla annex additional territory, gain Ruined Thunder Horse as vassal, remainder fragment, -4 Econ and 4 temporary Econ damage fromsupporting wrecked vassal)

I don't want to leave a polity behind that turns this into festering resentment and becomes a thorn in our side.

[X] [Refugee] Send out runners that you have food and intact farmland (6 temporary Econ damage, -6-8 Econ Expansion, -1 Stability, chance of further loss, +6-8 Econ next turn)

Would go for max amount since the stability hit would be negated, but I think our economy wouldn't be able to take that many.

[X] [Diplo] Let's maybe spread out in case the gods throw another bolt (Found Far Northern Trade Post)

Fulfills the yeoman request an thus gives +1 stab which means that we can kick the temple.

I mean... not quite?

They do things differently but Iron Scale is actually pretty effective, not Resham's inability to kill Yenyna when they fought. What we might start getting is half plate where you have a bronze curiass and iron scale under it, like half plate during the middle ages(though this was all steel).

But I am not sure. Your idea is probably also likely.
