The legacy is explicitly about king of the hill wars, which this war is. It has absolutely no fucking use or advantage in any other context. In short it's a shit legacy, but this is the one day where the stars align and shine just so, making this legacy actually useful. So yes I say we bloody use it, we sacrificed a chance to upgrade we have reserves for it for fuck sake (gee who would av thought we could possibly use a quick martial boost).

And yes I have partaken of a bit of salt.
It is entirely possible that the legacy is part of the reason why everyone was willing to make peace with us. They knew that if they fought till the end of the turn they would lose stability. It changes the risk/reward balance.

Actually, our Genius General also rolled a nat 100, it basically ended here in a colossal bloodbath that's probably going down in history, and the Heir to Khemetri gaining a strong and healthy respect of us even through their cultural indoctrination.

Like, seriously, holy shit is that battle going to be legendary.

Ho wow, make senses I guess :3

What Happened to the Treilli Mercenary?

When a GM writes your enemies as arrogant god-complex fuckwads, then gives a choice of:
1) Acknowledge their greatness.
2) Give money to stop bully hitting you.
3) Stab the motherfucker repeatedly.
Which do you think players would choose?
When a GM writes your enemies as arrogant god-complex fuckwads, then the War-weary Prince calls for parley and gives a choice of:
1) Acknowledge their greatness so he can go home.
2) Give money to overthrow his Father and acknowledge you as the greater.
3) Stab the poor guy who has lost many of his friends and loved ones to a pointless war repeatedly.
Which do you think players would choose?

So, how exactly does the narrative work if we give tribute?

Because it's a really weird peace in context of the time. One hand we win because we keep the King of the Hill title and the Khemetri "lose" the Great Power war. On the other hand, we're ending the war by paying tribute. Something that is generally done by the losing side, as evident by the loss of prestige.

Are the Khemetri losing even more prestige than we are if we end up bribing the prince?

Basically, it becomes a token peace treaty that allows all sides involved to save face. It's the equivilent that AN said of "Both sides give way and the side with greater prestige retains King of the Hill, while the weaker side loses it and takes a small prestige hit". We're just salving the wound in a way that lets them save face instead of us gaining prestige.

Everyone outside "Knows" that we won, thus why we get King of the Hill, but the Khemetri get to salve the wound with some treasure that they can use clubbing the heads of the people who bitch about it.

If we give tribute, it would basically be in compensation for THEM acknowledging US as superior. I'm fine with that, even if it costs us.

Give money to stop bully hitting you.
You are misinterpreting the tribute option. This is essentially the Ymaryn bankrolling an assassination and regime change in Khemet to bring this new prince to power, while maintaining our KotH status and giving us an extra half turn to prepare to go burn HK to the fucking ground.

Khem isn't getting wealth from this, it'll get used up in bribes and funding soldiers/art to ensure the coup happens.

This king won't come back but in a generation or two we'll just be right back here as they decide they should be KotH and why should those losers they beat have that status.
AN just confirmed it'll be at least a century of peace. I'm pretty happy with that, and if they come back I'll be even happier to fight them with another century of buildup on our side.

[X] Offer tribute (-5 Prestige, -10 Wealth, keeps King of the Hill, chance of +1 Stability)
[X] The war will continue (War continues, have mid-turn actions before next War Mission rolls to potentially regenerate forces)
Im good for both but i what you to hear this song

Because I want to see the prince and the dragon have more awesome fight scenes...

Dude fought the freakin' Dragon of Gygo to a standstill. He deserves the title of God-King.

He's clearly the Chosen Hero to our Demon Lord.
I want to save Yenyna's armor. Because holy shit does it have meaning now! It also looks fucking awesome.

Keep it as a part of the Royal property(not sure if regalia is the right term).

We pull it out and give it to a Chosen commander whenever we begin to push the button.

But the tribute option is basically giving the Prince enough wealth to stage a coup against his father. So the pathetic shit who actually gave the order to do this will die through THAT option.

Also, they got Thunderdomed into fighting us. With the new king, it's possible for us to enact trade missions and the like to ensure a lasting peace and intertwined economies that could even make us allies. Our real enemies are the HK, who betray us at every opportunity.
