If we want to progress we can choose the debate optiom with high refugees. If we want to be conservative we can stamp out all other religions then increasing RA so its safe and untouched. We have to chain a bunch of megaprojects (Palace, Census, Games(easy stab action gain?) and Place to the Stars(better math)) in the future to help round us out and make admin easier.
 
One thing I'm hoping is that the debates and the forcing to follow the spirit of the law along with the many improvements would be enough to get them to stop raiding others on their own without resorting to biting stability loss and angering them further.
 
@Academia Nut : Does our high Mysticism and high Prestige help with the debates?

Seems like if they ever say something like "Our Gods are better then your God's" we can then just point at the burned down city. In fact it seems like most of their arguments based purely on faith should be beaten like that. Hope our pirests don't rub it in too much, but it is a handy tool.

I do think we need to integrate someone in order to afford the Palace econ, but I'd actually rather take Hatvalley. With the Nomads on horses roaming around up north, the Stallions still provide a valuable service. Hatvalley is on a similar precipice (remember Rulwyna feared them breaking away first causing the failure cascade?), and they have all our silver and gold mines.

The only thing worse than currency causing a tax crisis is completely losing our supply of it.
 
Guys stop voting for humiliate and choose the tribute or territory actions! Both help us out and weakens the HK during this time of instabilty.

This will massively worsen the cultural divergence between north and south by solidifying religious divergence with the main temple in Valleyhome. Hence, religious fracture that could take a very long time to heal indeed.

Comsidering that we will have opportunities later to change our vassal's ways, do we really want to try to end their practice of slavery right now?

I think that it might be better to stop their practice of human sacrifice instead. It ends the (imo) more odious practice and increases the likelihood that our priests will win their debate.

Actually, this hits at the base of a cultural transformation. We give them the skills and tech to farm without needing slaves, and force them to rearrange their society around that. It's a big deal long term.

They still worship our gods and mostly have our values (minus the martial stuff). The Stallions getting a temple (not a Great Temple, as far as I know, just a temple) isn't really worthy of the name 'religious fracture'.

I'm very much a peace in our time kinda guy, as my posting and voting has indicated. However, they shanked us (for justified reasons. We're fucking scary and just erased a civ from existence).

If we just go "Apologize and go away" I don't think it satisfies our justice trait and also might send a message of weakness and / or distraction.

I think slapping them on the wrist and going "Bad. No. Pay a fine and think about what you did." Satisfies our justice and sends a message that we're punishing them for what they did, but have no interest in taking them over or erasing them in the way that demanding territory would.
