Does prestige help in keeping a polity together and united in addition to the other main factors like stability/cent and whatnot? Like everyone is so chuffed to be part of such a great place they're less willing to leave?

[X] [Policy] Offensive

Seems like a good spread, with expand forests now being effectively two actions and hopefully providing enough margin for another wildcat mine midturn pick if we get one.

Since the government's ability to manage things is falling short this just seems sensible. The North has been temporarily placated with the help the south gave uncovering their wonder so we should approach things in a step by step manner.

[X] [RB] West, through the hills

Switching policy to offensive should supply enough punch to keep things stable so I think it should be alright to have the mercs refuel and filter new members in and older members out so they stay more in touch with their original values of the people.

Switching this out since AN said they were alright to continue.

What does "lose the capacity to react" mean? Do we lose certain midturn options (Wildcat (not that we'll take it), midturn Main, etc.) or does it skip the midturn entirely? Does it affect any extra choices in the main turn?

It means that if you end up with a total at the wrong numbers you won't have a chance to make an emergency stability or legitimacy boost.

How badly did sacking Xohyr damage our values? Cosmopolitan Acceptance seemed like it was hurt pretty badly here. We burned "fellow humans" alive and took people as "refugees" (war loot).

Would "[Main] New Trails - Between North and South" be better for connecting the northern and southern provinces?

It's not as great as it could be, but the danger to it is minimal at the moment.

Read Rulwyna II's analysis again.

Did we get a subordinate slot for prestige 40? I thought we were already at 7, but may be mistaken. Anyone have the old number of subordinate slots saved?

Alright, history post updated.

Linky linky
Another bit of trivia. Here's our Prestige since we first unlocked the stat in Long live the king:

Turns out oodles and oodles of subordinate states (with a side helping of war) is really good for prestige.

@Academia Nut Are we caught up to not!Egypt yet?

Well... That happened. Yeah, I'm guessing Khemet's Prestige is absolute bullshit given what we know. We haven't done too many wars and they've evidently got a Prestige Wonder.

LOL at the Thunder Speakers betraying the the Highland Kingdom.

@Academia Nut were the Thunder Speakers planning the betray the Highland Kingdom from the beginning or did they nope out of the plan when they heard we burned Xohyr to the ground?

I like this plan, it covers basically everything and sets us up for the next generation.

@Academia Nut if you don't' mind me asking, about how unlikely was it that we were able to take the city despite pulling back a lot of our troops? Like was it a long shot but possible, or was it a complete and utter fluke?

I really, really think an Offense Policy is a bad idea. We'll just have to switch right off it again in a turn or two, since we are full up to the brim on land.
It's actually kind of amazing. I don't think any settled civilization could have done what we did.

We basically took Attila the Hun's chariot riding predecessor, peacefully made him our king, armed him with iron and (primitive) combined arms tactics and aimed him like a dagger in the vitals at our main rival killing them
Well... you know. Main rival, some guys with gods we don't like.

That's basically the same thing, right?

@Academia Nut how well does the People's vast knowledge of forestry apply to foresting the lowlands? Please tell me that's not yet another megaproject.

Also, I'm curious, how many alerts do you get on an average day? I'm sure it must be ridiculous
