Onmur, on the book, consider this: We know it's coming soon, but what does it mean if the book launches two weeks from now? What about if it comes out tomorrow? By this point we've butterflied the exact events away in one direction or another, but I'm of the opinion that a sign on how things might have gone without us, and how long it would have taken, is still important.
"Do you remember Kaoru and Umika?" Michiru enthuses. "They became magical girls, too! Umika is hoping to get her book published soon, she found an editor, and she says she wants to buy us a bigger house! Though... the three of us already live together, anyway, more or less."
I don't think there's a release date yet. Even if Umika and her new editor had planned it already, Umika hasn't got anything to her name as a writer, so I doubt we can find anything about her title on the net.

Added 'motives' to things to share, but I really thing we shouldn't go into detail right now. We actually have time for this, and I don't want to dump all the information on everyone at once, at least not in full detail.

Hunh, good catch on the quote... I still kinda want to look though. (If only because certainties > inference)

I'll note that part of the reason I want to ask is that since Michiru, Umika and Kaoru are coming tomorrow, it would surprise me if their enemies in Asunaro use that chance to make an attack of opportunity. Much the same as we saw happen to the Sendai group earlier, actually. At this point I think it's good to have at least a rough amount of preparation.

I agree we need at least an entire vote, if not more, dedicated to the Homu talk. I'd like to get it started this update, if we can get that far, though.

It'd be easier to start with Homura's first reactions.

We should make sure the Pleiades keep in contact while the three are at Mitakihara.

If something goes wrong, all aboard the Homu train.

If she learned something terrible, let's say "like the lichbomb" rather than what we're really thinking, it would explain why she thinks we're "lucky" for knowing what we did before getting becoming a magical girl.
Or, because she went on to say that Mami can teach us what we're missing, she took it to mean that we know relatively mundane stuff about how to live as a magical girl, and not any of the bombs.
What about if it comes out tomorrow?
Then it would've conflicted with our plan to bring them here tomorrow and Michiru would've brought it up.

The first title is a reference to Good Omens, yes. The second is a reference to another famous work of apocalyptic prophecy. Fingersmith is a novel-turned-miniseries about a lesbian relationship in Victorian England between a high-born lady and a low-born troublemaker; for some reason, when I thought about Oriko and books, it came to mind. :p

I wonder if our lasers work from inside timestop. It'd be some really weird physics fuckery, and probably have some really exploitable implications either way.

At worst, the beams might start towards the target, stop and then all arrive at once when the timestop ends, much like bullets do.

Speaking of lasers, since using them at full intensity is a bit dangerous for bystanders, if we have to deal with hostile magical girls, we could use them at an intensity just strong enough to blind rather than burn to disrupt them while we pull their gems. They might need some healing for their retinas, but nobody would die.

...any news related to a disappearance of Asuka Yuuri.
If we want to know if Asuka Yuuri is still alive, there's a simpler way:

[ ] Contact Kazusa again. Sorry, you spaced and forgot something.
[ ] Are there any other magical girls in Asunaro we might be able to help while we're there?
[ ] If they don't have a Grief Seed handy, they shouldn't worry about it. We can hunt for one when they get here.
[ ] If they ever need any help... with anything... they just have to ask. We'll be there right away.

If Asuka is alive, Kazusa should mention her. If not, she won't.

When I was looking up the War of the Roses, I found that Jean d'Arc was still alive, but slated to be executed early in the War.

The hundred Years War had just ended and Jean had played a part in it.

In PMMM that's the period of Tarte Magica.

On a second read-through, I believe I misunderstood your post @Hannz , I missed what may have been sarcasm.

I'd rather be cautious not to cut off the work we're doing now by committing too far into the future. Even with a 1.9 and 2.3k update the talk itself was long, and post-talk planning may not be much shorter.

Yeah, the green vote was kinda absent last update wasn't it?

I've been hemming and hawing about the when of it, but I do agree with shouting out to Michiru again. At the very least we didn't really mention the fact that we have spare seeds. (Not in a way that was unambiguous at least.)

The "we can help with anything they need" can wait until tomorrow but for the rest...

...Yeah, screw it, I'd rather do it now:

[X] Contact Kazusa again; You forgot something.
-[X] If they don't have a Grief Seed handy there's no rush: We can flat out loan them our spare clear seed for a while and scrounge something up later.
-[X] Are there any other magical girls in Asunaro they would want us to help?
[X]Make sure Mami's Okay. Ask her thoughts and feelings.
[X] Restore privacy field
[X] Discuss...
-[X] The implications of what Michiru said.
-[X] Asunaro's 'villains': Motives, strengths and powers. Oriko's prediction that the Soujus will come to Mitakihara at some point.
-[X] Tomorrow's visit
[X] Warp up, say goodbye to the Kures.
-[X]In parting, bemusedly ask Oriko if she's ever seen herself in her visions using a skill she didn't know or doing something she didn't agree with.
[X] Talk to Homura

(Wordcount: 133)

Pulled a few things from Onmur's vote.

I'm very leery of talking about Jyuubey or his creation too much given how deeply tied he is to the witchbomb. Even at the basest level, his "cleaning gems" in canon has little to do with Kyuubey, and far more to do with the Saints not wanting to deal with the fact the effect of gem purification is effectively cannibalizing the corpses of former magical girls.

Subvote in consideration for "Make sure Mami's okay"
-[ ]Would being in contact with Michiru regularly help?

Because the more Mami's the problem lies just not being able to regularly contact her friends person to person, the more having regular contact with Asunaro would help if we can find a good reason. And we have a good reason: Scientific partnership. Working with Asunaro could help us work towards our long term goals. Though that said I'm wary here and I especially think that the idea of scientific partnership itself shouldn't be directly brought up this vote. Mami's been a bit too much of a pushover and it's become clear that if we suggest something concrete she'll go along with it. We need to play it softly.

There's also a strange possibility I want to bring up along the talking about clear seeds to Michiru. It'll probably come up later, rather than now, but I think it's worth mentioning. Basically, I think it may be worth telling her that clear seeds are step one in another process, one that could help save everyone. If Michiru is privy to the witchbomb... It could give her a bit of hope.

I was considering

[ ] Quick telepathy Kazusa...

But I though, Kazusa is strong, and she was planning to visit not tomorrow, but later on.

I don't think it's necessary, and even if we call her, she might still go ahead and hunt a Witch, for moral purposes if nothing else.

And our call should have given Kazusa some hope of getting out of the lack-of-Grief-Seeds situation. I think she'll be fine.

That said, I'd rather not call, and then asking about other meguca can wait, since we're not rushing to Asunaro either way. Unless there's some PMKM canon fact I'm forgetting. I should re-read the damned thing.

[X] Make sure Mami's OK.
[X] Bring back Privacy Field.
[X] Share information and suspicions:
-[X] Asunaro's 'villains': Motives, strenghts and powers. Oriko's prediction that the Soujus will come to Mitakihara at some point.

[X] Ask Homura if you could talk now, in private.

I think she'll be fine.
I think it's less about giving her hope and more about her getting her friends in on it. I think that Kazusa would go quietly, but I haven't been getting that impression from people talking about the rest of her party.

Notable: We know Niko's Wish and powers are the same because Hijiri wouldn't exist otherwise. Given what we've been able to glean about Umika and her situation, it's a pretty safe inference that hers are too: It seems like the Asunaro situation is more 'chaos butterflies' and less 'timeline flux'.

    [X] Talk to Homura

Once we get back to Mami after talking to Homura, I wanna have Brina cling to Mami's arm.

Because.

"No. You've done nothing wrong, Mami, don't apologise,"
Mami Did Nothing Wrong.

:V

What-could-have-beens abound, and regret isn't the best of flavours to mix with anything.
I guess that's a no to Grief tea. :(

"Kazusa Michiru is running out of Grief Seeds?" Oriko asks sharply, a frown on her face. You have Homura's full attention, too, violet eyes boring into the side of your head.

Kirika just seems slightly bored.
Best Buddy.

BTW, to ideas of telling Kazusa she doesn't need to go hunt a Seed, we actually already told her that.

"Oh, that makes sense. Right. Let me know when you're done," you say. "Oh, hey- do you have a Grief Seed you can spare? I'll return it as a Clear Seed, of course, or I can go and hunt one down over here," you say.

:p

So she'd likely tell us she's fine again if we tell her to not go hunting.

Also,
"We'll... sort that out," you say. Oriko's warehouse is also a possibility, though that one mattress might be a problem.
Or it might not be.

It's not unusual to call somebody back because you forgot to mention something, so I don't see any reason we can't do the Columbo "just one more thing" bit. Don't agree with changing the order of the lines, though... should lead with the "anyone else in the area who might need our help?" thing and make the other reminders seem like offhand comments instead of the reason we called.

.... I wish we had more leads on that missing meguca from the warehouse district through ;____;
