Honour of Elites
The perfection of a skill in service to others, particularly martial skill, is among the highest achievements a person can have. Of course, who can afford to achieve perfection is not always even...
Pros: Increase Martial gain from raising elite units
Cons: Increased potential Martial loss in fighting, increased social stratification

Honour of Elites -> Best of the Best
Whether in war or in art, the People want only the best, damn the costs
Pros: Increase Martial gain from raising elite units, bonus Art and Mysticism for certain actions
Cons: Increased potential Martial loss in fighting, increased social stratification, increased costs

Changed to increase costs and provide bonus art and mysticism.

Why are y'all wanting to pursue war? It offers the fewest benefits and takes us down a harmful road. Bend our Hero toward Mysticism or Diplomacy instead - she's suited for both, as per the text.

Rereading the update, it has to be an explosive. There's no way sulfuric acid would make the compound look like it's been hit by lightning multiple times.

[X] Attempt to finish her mother's work

Hoping that as she seems mostly sane and rational she can continue the path but not, y'know, blow herself up.

The Highlanders sounds like it would lead to a RM with them and BLEH to that.
Nomads lol
The other option I'd be tempted with is Hathayan assault but I don't think we want to push on them yet.

The mother's work was the work of a heroic genius on the hardest research we have. It appears that we're now being given a chance to have a second, motivated heroic genius take a shot a finishing it. This probably isn't an opportunity we can simply replace with ordinary study actions, especially if what's at stake is what it appears to be.

Oh hell yeah! I really am torn on the vote, because I want our new hero to smahs the patriarchy, but I also want explosives...
Also while I should be asleep and so can't do my analysis, here's the differences I saw:

Economics
Early currency

Ancient Saltern
Upon developing currency, pays out an initial boost to Wealth and Prestige, and acts as a standard saltern from then on
So yeah, looks like we've got 1 saltern fully supported by trade post, then one saltern without a pair, whereas before we had a megaproject supported saltern and a trade post supported one.

Honestly, gun powder would allow us to no-sell everyone....we have to take this chance.

We're at war, Umi-san.

If I thought Rolwyna had a shot I'd say go for the gunpowder, but this stuff laid our last Mystic Hero low (it shouldn't even be possible for a Hero to critfail!) and Rolwyna's of the opinion that she's not as smart or as mystic as her mother. Seems too dangerous.

What alternate explosives are there? Just so we don't get ahead of ourselves.

Also I think Martial and Mysticism will be bullshit OP so I want it even beyond possible Boom Booms.

AN has said her lifespan is shorter because of her habits, so it's likely to be a combo of the explosion and her naturally poor health. Either way, she's still alive so i'd call it a downgraded crit fail on survival.

Also, our young hero said she lacked only in experience...not that she wasn't smart enough.

Diplomacy with Highlanders is heavily implied to be diplomarriage, so I am for study or, failing that, war.
Not sure it is really gunpowder though.

We're at war and winning handily.

It laid our last Mystic Hero low (but possibly still alive) but didn't explode the entire compound and kill dozens. I'd say that's a normal fail, for black powder.

Also, did you read the text carefully?
Rulwyna often had trouble with keeping up with her mother's ideas, but that was from lack of experience rather than mental acuity, and she knew that most other shamans and priests could not follow along because of lack of interest in pursuing the strange ideas.
She can do it.

It is likely that other shamans and priests cannot.

Or... thinking over the message again, Rulwyna wondered at what power her mother had discovered. Rulwyna often had trouble with keeping up with her mother's ideas, but that was from lack of experience rather than mental acuity, and she knew that most other shamans and priests could not follow along because of lack of interest in pursuing the strange ideas. If she disappeared for a time into her mother's work, could she grasp what divine wrath that had struck her down and turn that against her enemies? Plus, if she did that, she might not send her father to an early grave, or bring strife to the People if others decided she was attempting to cultivate dangerous foreign ties.
Here she says she lacks experience more than anything else. I think she already has exceptional Mysticism but needs a boost to get Heroic. At least in a Mechanical sense. It would also make sense for her to be on the cusp of Heroic in one other stat, but we are choosing that stat, so when she goes to do her mother's work she will do it with Heroic skill.
