For the record, Madoka's wish explicitly altered all timelines instead of making a new one.

And yea, in Wraith Arc we learn that Homura has the ability to return to timelines she's abandoned, including ones Madokami erased (which is just UKG-space). It's just, well, for the most part there's no reason why she would ever indulge this facet of her power, literally ever.

[X] Agree, a quick hunt should be fine
-[X] Show off some. You have a valid excuse this time; why not make the most of it?
-[X] Watch the time; you don't want to be late for the Sendai / Ishinomaki trip
[X] Give Madoka reassurances and promise to talk later.
[X] Setup the serioustalk for later with Homura in timestop.
[X] After we go, ask if Homura's going to hang out with Madoka. If she isn't, nudge her to.

Wouldn't returning to a timeline that no longer exists due to Madokami's actions mean returning to a timeline in which Madoka still exists?

The mechanics of how Homura's shield worked in Wraith Arc wasn't completely fleshed out, but it's explained enough where I'm pretty sure she cannot return to past timelines, nor ones that have been retconned.

From what was given, the main point of Homura's shield is that it's supposed to act as a road to another universe (timeline) when it is activated, which we all know at this point. However, since Madoka basically rewrote the entire universe so that the timelines in which Homura would normally enter didn't exist, the destination was unavailable. The interaction of the inert shield and her new abilities which gave her an innate connection to Madoka just acted as a road whose destination led to Madoka, or to be more specific, Ultimate Krimheld Gretchen since the Law of Cycles basically has to fight that thing for all eternity. It's less of the inert timeline and more of the battleground in which the Law of Cycles and Ultimate Krimheld Gretchen eternally fight, if I am correct.

You quoted the answer to your own question. Also, in all of those timelines, Madoka either died or contracted, which was basically a death sentence anyway.
I have no clue what "UKG-space" means.

And I never said when to go to in those timelines. Going back to a point when Madoka is still alive, just to reassure herself that Madoka is in fact real, seems like something that she might do for one day at a time periodically.

IIRC, (and do note that I'm getting this from earlier in the thread) the one time Homura tried going to a previous timeline, all she saw was Ultimate Kriemhild Gretchen, Madokami's Witch. That's it. Nothing else. (Fake edit: :ninja:)
Also, even if she could go to a pre-Madokami timeline, I seriously doubt that Madoka would be alive. Did I mention that Madoka contracting is a death sentence for her?

Okay except she was able to go back to where she came from eitherway. She went to UKG-space, then went back to where she was before.

So...yea, it doesn't really matter.

(hope this works)
Thanks for your answer, can't say much more on that as others I feel have already brought more context-critical evidence to the table, but I wish to say that, like, all the reason I do not agree amount to personal preference, as I feel without further information both your and my point of view are both valid.
But on the point on Madoka not exploding UKG at the end of time... would that not mean that UKG hade to timetravel to whatever point in time, where it got then exploded.
Bcause as I understand it UKG is the collective entirety of every girl Madoka already saved before that point, which should be all of them as per her wish (maybe, only if she can not act, but didn't UKG "hatch" before it was murdered, was that mere showoffness by SHAFT or was there more reason to the "before they are born" part of Madokas wish?),
so... well could be, unless the local sages of PMMM have an answer to this I can say I lack information on this to say one way or the other is right.
And I thank you for your concern, I actually found a for me understandable reasoning for your point on Madokami while typing this out, never would have even seen that possibility otherwise, so, it wasn't harsh, thanks.

(am kinda tired, sorry for redundancy or bad coherence, btb how are likebombs looked at on this forum and do you think Firn would apprteciate them?)

Firn answered me... *^* (is too awed for words)
Other than that: o7 likebombing complete, going for a second run in story-only.

More on topic: We should seriously tell Homura that her telling Madoka the truth behind her is like *the* deterrent for her making a contract, we may know it, but until we tell her all the work towards such a result will come only from us, not also deliberately from her side.
We know, but she does not and we have word of Firn (I am reasonably sure) that the PSP characterization is canon for this, even if the events are not.
It could also help her (Homuras) feelings of helplessness, seeing how our power may allow us to ensure Madoka survives (with the win button that is timestop of course), but she is like the only one who can permanently disincentivize Madoka from contracting pretty much permanently just through being honest with her after building a bond of trust.
We seriously need to get them to talk, that is, besides cooperation toward a common goal, the way for building a positive bond between compatible personalities.

Hope I was not too *I am right* in this, was and is not my intention, only wish to help (and contribute).
