The reason I was so dismissive of enchantments for protecting our loved ones is because I can't even think of a mechanism by which a simple enchantment could protect them. I mean, if they know our names and have access to public records, they know who they are. And we suck at enchantment. I can't think of a way that Mami's powers could make a fast, simple enchantment that would have any effect."Trust your neighbor, but lock your door." These are simple, bare minimum precautions that are easy to implement, cover a wide range of contingencies for the effort invested, and, thanks to Mami, easy to replicate. The only reason not to do them is if you believe that, of the tens of thousands of reality-warping, emotionally disturbed teenage child soldiers around the world, none of them are going to be desperate or greedy enough to try to coerce us to give them a Clear Seed. That strikes me as incredibly short-sighted.
Could stand to make something that will make Madoka less squishy. The reason I was so dismissive of enchantments for protecting our loved ones is because I can't even think of a mechanism by which a simple enchantment could protect them. Aki from Ishinomaki's got clone powers, too. We'd have to make it a priority to get Koko her wish magic back. Or get really good at Chibis and combine it with full setting-breaker range extension. Fighting fire with fire is the only response to such a pestilence.
How? How would either power make Madoka less squishy? We could make her grief armor, but that would require controlled grief outside our range, which I'm convinced isn't possible, and even if you think it is it would require far more research time given the meeting's today.Could stand to make something that will make Madoka less squishy.
Use cases. We're not looking for something that'd stonewall a team of Meguca intent on focusing Madoka down. If that kind of threat comes up, we stop reacting and we start acting. No, we're looking for something that'd keep someone alive for the three seconds it takes to telepathy Homura and get a timestop. More of a general precaution to calm Homura down and in case something goes really seriously sideways and Feathers pulls some left-field shit. Eyes I think didn't use the right idea - this is less like locking your door and more like wearing shoes. The reason I was so dismissive of enchantments for protecting our loved ones is because I can't even think of a mechanism by which a simple enchantment could protect them. A Dune-style shield (forcefield that only reacts to high-velocity objects) to protect against ranged attacks has been suggested.I can't think of a way that Mami's powers could make a fast, simple enchantment that would have any effect.
She likely can. As I understand it, the block on Kyouko's powers is purely psychological. Now I could be wrong, but couldn't Sayaka copy Kyoko's powers ANYWAY?...I mean just because Kyoko can't use them, doesn't mean Sayaka can't.
After the metabomb. What was the context for that one? I'm guessing staying with Mami in a time of need?
I think that extending it to parents is kind of iffy, yes. I'm thinking Kyousuke, Madoka, Hitomi, and Nagisa. I also agree that we're not making them right now; that's crazy talk and if someone was suggesting that then they're crazy. These are more of a thing to do while Mami's at school and we have nothing better to do.Besides, we'd need to make several rings like that to protect all obvious targets, and it'd be difficult to explain to all the out of the loop parents why they really shouldn't take this ring off in such a small amount of time.
Magical projectiles and lasers would fall under the aegis of "high-velocity" (even if lasers aren't projectiles... so I guess it would be high velocity and intense energy emissions). In Dune, even most melee attacks were fast enough to be blocked by the shields. The reasons to make it based on velocity are a) so that things like normal, non-threatening contact and air can still get through okay, and b) because that's a clear-cut definition. I have my doubts about the "danger sense" idea, because how does the enchanted item determine what is and isn't danger? Can it differentiate between a thrown rock and a dodgeball? If Junko pours tequila shots, will it register that as an attempted poisoning? It seems like that would essentially require some degree of precognition, which is one of the few things that we explicitly can't do.The high-velocity shield is not what I'd go for either. Homura and Mami are pretty much the only meguca around that use high-velocity projectiles instead of magical projectiles, frickin lasers, or swords, none of which will be stopped by a Dune-style shield. Just have something that puts up a bubble if the user is in danger.
I'm actually wondering if we should reorder these. I don't want to... mix the business-y things in right now. We'll have plenty of time to theorize about magic when we get home. Let's just enjoy the flight.[X] WAFF more with Mami. Drop a comment about angels because wings. Those wings are awesome.
[X] Bring up your idea about how Mami's magic is about connections, and tandem magic between you and her possibly letting you keep all your friends' soul gems cleaned at all times.
[X] Kiss Mami on the cheek when you land. She's the best.
I kind of agree. Group the discussion of magical theory with the enchantment practice, and leave the flying as a purely WAFF moment.I'm actually wondering if we should reorder these. That's the case with Godwinson's vote, too. The only difference is whether we use any spare time we might have to try enchantments or to repair the table. If we wind up dealing with a freaked-out Mami or don't have the time, then we won't get to do either task.I really don't think those enchantments are necessary. Not to mention, is during that vote really the time? We'll want some leeway to react to Mami's reaction to the kiss anyway so we don't seem like a weirdo.
Well. More of a weirdo.
This is what you're voting for:No need to overcomplicate things. We're doing too much of that already anyway.
[X] Talk about fixing table-chan. You could decorate it in the process. You want it to be a joint effort in some way so that it'll be something the two of you will have made together. (Ideas on our end: melt it down, recompose it)
