TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands.
To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.
I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.
I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.
I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all.
Yes, but the deal was never discussed period. Just that it happened along with the conversation beforehand, just like most things in the quest. There's nothing stopping you from applying it retroactively, especially since you did that with other things on your list like Friday. Not to mention, outside of omakes, it's not like any way to change it would come up at all, so through what you're doing with the list would be the most likely way of actually making it the case. Just seems rather off to me that Bruce wouldn't have given Linda any ownership in their initial deal over the gym. It's not ultimately a big deal, but I do raise an eyebrow at that.
And Bruce is the biggest student of Lee who paid lots of money to build the gym to sustain Lee's memory. Why does Linda own the likeness and name of Lee? Also I don't think Linda and her kids are going to be broke anytime soon.
🤨Because it's her husband? It's not a matter of owning his likeness, it's a matter of respect. We are using her dead husband's name, a man Bruce deeply respects and cherishes, for the gym and she doesn't have any ownership over it, despite being the one to run it full time since we don't do shit with it, which means that she legally has no say over what goes on with the gym any more than a regular manager would. Obviously, we wouldn't do anything to fuck her over intentionally, but the whole point of having clauses like that in the first place is to keep people honest. Intentionally is the operative word there, though. What if she doesn't want to franchise the gym? Well, too bad! Since she doesn't have any legal say over what is done with the gym. Sure they might not go broke, but there's nothing to say that they won't. And besides, it's not a matter of them going broke, it's that the money is rightfully theirs. With Bruce(Lee) gone and unable to look after his family anymore, the gym would be their major source of income aside from royalties, which are not particularly reliable, until Brandon gets into acting. Even then, he could end up dying just like OTL or any other number of things could end up happening where the money from partial ownership of the gym would be incredibly useful for them. And then there's the matter of their kids or what would happen with the gyms if we died and who would get it. The idea is that the gym should be helping to support his whole family now that he's gone, not just be a job for Linda to pass the time. It's very much out of character for Bruce(us) to not be going above and beyond to try and look out for them.
You said we should get TSR, specifically outlining the purpose of the purchase would be to start on the Star Wars TTRPG. I'm saying we don't need to do that because we already have a company for that. Nothing more. I know you have other intentions with TSR, I'm just not talking about them because you didn't actually voice them, even if I know what you really want is to get DnD. Also, I'm just generally against the idea of monopolizing the TTRPG space like that. More competition, variety, and choice is something I'll always appreciate and support.

And O'Brian was his student and he paid the money not Linda. You can't just say "they are owed50% ownership because they are family with the persone whose name is on the building eventhough they financed nothing" that does not exist, welcome to business. Secendly Bruce is us, so the only way Bruce does something horrible is when we vote for it.
If Linda is sooooo paraniod for the future she can buy shares, but come on man stop with the useless fearmongering.
I'll support this plan mostly because Orion's plan involves spending almost 200 million in one turn during a time where it might be difficult to make that back with such large maluses to actually making films(yes, I'm aware of the 10x profit multiplier, but that doesn't really mean anything if the movies don't make much to begin with before multiplying) which makes me kind of nervous.
The only thing I'd ask @Kaiser Chris, is do you think you could consider swapping out Well Known Fan for buying up the currently defunct Shamrock brand of cars in Ireland before someone else snatches it up with what's going on in Romania?

First off, cool it. You have been continuously belligerent numerous times throughout this thread, particularly when someone disagrees with you, and I'm not going sit here and take it. Secondly, I'm not going to engage with you further if you're insistent on being as bad faith as this and intentionally misrepresenting my words. You know full well that I never advocated for 50%, you know full well that my argument is not solely predicated on them being family, you know full well I already addressed my concern over the issue of voting, you know full that she can't just buy shares since it's not publicly traded, and you know full well that you are attempting to delegitimize and devalue my words and concerns by calling it fearmongering. You want to act this way? Feel free, but we aren't discussing this further.
Yes, but the deal was never discussed period. Just that it happened along with the conversation beforehand, just like most things in the quest. There's nothing stopping you from applying it retroactively, especially since you did that with other things on your list like Friday.
Friday was first introduced in an omake a ways back, and have since tried to include him in more snippets here and there for whenever Bruce and Carrie go out into the countryside, or...huh, I thought I had Bruce have a small stable on the property, so that he could go around in style with Mary (when she's older), but I guess I never included that. I didn't, I only started adding things to a list to keep track of what was going on in the narrative, with the overall list being unofficial as hell, which is why I left it up to Magoose to decide what to do with it.
As for the issue with ownership, again, I figured he was paying her royalties and a percentage of the profits, so it didn't occur to me that he would give her a percentage of the ownership of a private company (since I don't think it works that way?), but if anything, that's not my call, and more Magoose's.
Nothing more. I know you have other intentions with TSR, I'm just not talking about them because you didn't actually voice them, even if I know what you really want is to get DnD.
I mean, the thing we're outright ignoring here is the fact that Carrie was the one who created D&D in this timeline and not Gary Gygax, by a full, what was it, six years?
Main point of it all is that I don't think TSR even exists in this timeline, much less the overall Greyhawk setting.
In a company, if one person owns 51% and the other owns 49%, then the one who owns 51% has all of the power. So in order to assuage your fear of Bruce doing things that Linda does not like , 50% is the minimum.
Linda can approach Bruce and offer to buy shares and a % of the vote. As a private company/organization Bruce has the right to reject but that's something we can vote on.
Perhaps I was too harsh and I apologize for that but in my defence you presented an argument where Brandon could die and therefore they need to own a % and I found that unpleasant.

Did you really? Which omakes were those? I genuinely do not remember seeing Friday in any omake, or even Carrie and Bruce going out to the countryside except for when they were Ireland.

You can, and that's actually what was done for Lucasfilm itself, since Lucasfilm is a private company but the percentage of ownership is split amongst Bruce, George, Mike, Marcia, and apparently Mary now.

I don´t really care about monopolizing stuff unless the IRS gets involved...
And getting DnD also gets us a printing machine to create fantasy shows, cartoons, anime, films... Let´s face it, as awesome as the cyberpunk setting is is much more niche than the High Fantasy of DnD, and the difference between its different scenarios is much less that for example Faerun and Ravenloft...
Ah, but you see, if we learn how to speak Chinese, we will be able to understand if the Chinese man next to us is a Commie assassin or just a nice man looking for directions.
Jokes aside, I think it'd be nice to learn the language of our former mentor Bruce Lee. Though, if we want to go more esoteric with our languages, we could go with more obscure langiages like Esperanto, Afrikaans, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.
@Magoose, which languages does Bruce already know?
Did you? Which omakes were those? I genuinely do not remember seeing Friday in any omake, or even Carrie and Bruce going out to the countryside except for when they were Ireland.
In many ways it had been, and still was, a wakeup call, something that led him in a thousand and one directions even as he steadily began to hone his impulses to more productive ends [but not before he'd gotten a custom highland green 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Fastback (he was tempted to add an Irish flag to the roof), the entireNational Geographic catalog going back to 1888, one beaut of a stallion (he was considering naming Friday),
One sunny morning, Bruce suggested that they go horseback riding in the Lone Pine hills. Carrie was a bit hesitant at first, but she agreed, eager to spend more time with her husband.
As they rode through the hills, something clicked and left Bruce and Carrie acting like two love-struck teenagers, holding hands and whispering sweet nothings to each other as they went to grab Friday from his stables.
It was deep in the early morning that they'd arrived when they arrived at the ranch on the Nevada border, up near Bridgeport, eager to start their adventure. The sun was just starting to rise, casting a golden glow over the mountains. They could see the horses grazing in the fields, and they knew that they were in for a treat. And after meeting their guide, they mounted their horses, Bruce on Friday and Carrie on Comet, and set off on the trail, following the winding path that snaked through the mountains.
-[X]Learn Chinese: You are going to make a movie in China. You are going to need to be a gracious guest, and try and learn the language. To not be an asshole like the Brits are. DC: 40 Reward: You learn Chinese. Rolled: 53
It took a few weeks, but you managed to get very conversationally fluent with Cantonese.
It was quite funny that when you spoke to Bruce, he was completely surprised by you speaking it.
Then criticized you for butchering a few words, and sought to assist you with handling the proper pronunciation.
Reward: You are now conversationally fluent in Cantonese. There will be a far less hostile atmosphere on set when filming begins.
Dude, AFAIK in this verse DnD was released in 1974 like IRL and it is still owned by Gary Gygax...
Hell, one of the main reasons why we have not started the DnD thingy before is because @Magoose was waiting until all the Advanced DnD core books were released...
A proposal from the old country:
Ireland, Dublin, Chesterfield Avenue, Áras an Uachtaráin:
Charles James Haughey was sitting in his green leather felt chairs in front of the fireplace with a glass of beer in his hand, normally at such a moment he would be relaxed, calm and content but not today and not for a month indeed charles was not a happy Taoiseach and was unlikely to become one in the next months.
After ten years, ten years of work, alliance, negotiation, ten years spent in the background and in minor positions rebuilding his reputation destroyed by this stupid arms crisis he had finally managed to come back stronger than ever thanks to a stupid error from his predecessor who was able to twist words enough to mislead parliament and reach agreements with the British behind their backs, thanks to the respect accumulated thanks to his work and his innovative policies he was able to convince the cabinets of elect him instead of his opponent George Colley.
On December 11, 1979, Charles Haughey was elected Taoiseach and leader of Fianna Fáil, he was on top of the world... only to find out what kind of rotten situation he had fought to achieve, the country was just emerging from the energy crisis of 79 and was living well beyond his means, heading at high speed towards an economic crisis, his attempts to improve the situation by increasing public spending only made the situation worse said public spending soon became out of control , and led to increases in borrowing and taxation at an unacceptable level.
A sigh escaped him.
"At least there is a light at the end of the fucking tunnel if I play my cards right"
Indeed the once moribund Irish automobile industry had just received a huge injection of capital, recently liberated Romania needed cars, trucks, tractors and vehicles of all kinds to replace what had been destroyed during the war and its own factories being devastated by the Soviets they had to source their supplies from abroad, and for some reason they seemed to think that Irish vehicles were the best thing since the invention of Guiness, thus bringing much needed funds into Ireland.
For this they could probably thanked the good impression left in Romania by the IRA and the incompetence of other automobile suppliers, the American and Indian car manufacturers decided not to invest in a market that seemed unstable to them, the British had their negotiations derailed thanks to their usual arogance, no one was sure what happened during the negotiations with the Germans but they left in an ambulance, the French had tried to extort more money than acceptable, the Belgian factories were too small to meet the demand and all the Romanians preferred to sit on a cactus and spin around rather than buy a car from the Russians.
But there was another factor; its light at the end of the tunnels,Bruce "the Goose" O'Brien , everything that this man turns into gold, he hoped to be able to convince this man to invest in the industry of the Emerald Isle, but how the appeal to patriotism alone would be insufficient.
"how,how how"
He mumbled as he looked around his office before settling on his poster for "Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance", what a film anyway, who would have thought that a small, distant country like Japan would have such cinematographic gems ...to...export...to...the...world.
With a jump he got up and ran towards his writing desk.
"That's it"
He took his official letterhead and pen and began to write frantically. A few days later
USA,Holywood, Beverly Hills, O'Brien Manor:
At the moment Bruce was a surprised man, he had just closed the door after signing for an official registered courier from the old country and had not the slightest idea what the reason for this could be.
Heading towards his office thoughtfully he opened the door, sat down, broke the presidential seal of the letter and began reading.

Dear Mister O'Brien
I am writing this letter to you in the hopes of convincing you to take part in a business proposition of my own.
Indeed as you may know since my recent public speech on this subject Ireland has been living well beyond its means for a while, my attempts to improve things have been less than successful.
Fortunately recently there has been a major improvement the recently released Romanians (thanks very much to you and to Lucasfilm for that) decided that Irish vehicles would be the ones which would re-motorize their country thus giving a facelift to our automobile industry in poor condition, our other industries have also started testing Romanian waters with promising but premature results.
However, unfortunately it will not be enough or fast enough to put the Irish economy back on its feet before an economic crisis, an injection of capital to accelerate all this would be necessary, an injection that very few would have the means and the will to achieve.
This is why I am offering you a deal I heard about these strikes in Hollywood which potentially generated the production of new films and this idea that you had of importing films already made from Japan, although not as cinematographically rich that Japan, our beautiful emerald island, has several magnificent pieces of art which could very well be distributed internationally, such as:
-Flight of the Doves 1971
-Odd Man Out 1947
-The Rocky Road to Dublin 1967
-Mise Éire 1959
-The Quiet Man 1952
-Darby O'Gill And The Little People 1959
-Man of Aran 1934
And others, but I'm sure you already know it given your broadcast a while ago of "home is the hero", if you agreed to take the risk of investing in Ireland to avoid a crash financed I guarantee you on my honor that I will do everything in my power to guarantee you access to the Irish cinematographic catalog for you and you alone.
In the hope that my words have convinced you.
It is my second atempt ever at writing an omake i would be happy to hear any constructive critisism or modification suggestion if i missed something or got it wrong.
