TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands.
To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.
I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.
I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.
I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all.
This idea came to me a long time ago, when I was thinking that when the time came for us to make a Live Action Pacific Rim, we could also make a prequel of sorts instead of the godawful sequel that came around OTL. I'd hoped we would have the technology to do it in the 80's but unfortunately the technology is not up to par for what we want just yet (despite it already being around the 90's level, it still needs more time to mature).
So, since we're going for an Animated TV Show (which I hope means Anime) for Pacific Rim, I figure, why not repurpose my idea for an animated prequel to the TV Show. I figure an OVA would work just perfectly for what I want to show here: The final battle of Rome Blue. I don't know why, but ever since I found out about this Jaeger, I've always had this soft spot for it, wishing it had been one of the few Jaegers to survive till the final battle.
Anyways, I figure this can do well as either an OVA, or perhaps a 4-episode mini animated series. I'm not that sure, but I feel it can work in either form.
Set Up: Set in the Pacific Rim Universe, this is a prequel telling of the twilight of the Jaeger program, back when the pilots had become celebrities onto themselves, and their downfall. It follows Michael Shane, a hotshot pilot of Jaeger Mark-I Romeo Blue. A man defined by his lavish lifestyle and comfortable job, and how he deals when adversity shatters said world. Suddenly he has to deal with parental issues as he gains custody of his daughter, while also now facing the end of the twilight of the Jaeger age, when more and more powerful Kaijus make their appearance.
Animation: Sunrise Studios/DreamWorks Series Director: Noboru Ishiguro Writer: Shoji Kawamori
Pilot Michael Shane: He is one of the two pilots of the Mark I Jaeger, Romeo Blue. He's a prideful, arrogant pilot that loves his life as a celebrity, yet he soon finds himself dealing with the death of his ex-girlfriend, and gaining custody of a child he never knew he had. During his experiences in trying to form a bond with her, he manages to find the strength and conviction needed to fight and defeat the newly arrived Category III Kaiju "Intruder" as it tries to destroy Los Angeles.
Voiced By: Frank Welker Alternate: Larry Kenney
Elizabeth Hunt: She's the daughter of Michael Shane and Mary Hunt. A precocious child who never knew her father, and only heard sad tales from her mother. Her disposition towards his father is hostile at first, with both of them butting heads more often than not. Eventually, both sides bond and relate to each other, becoming an important aspect of their lives. When Elizabeth's life is threatened by the attack on Los Angeles, it's Michael's determination to not let her be hurt that allows his victory.
Voiced By: Drew Barrymore Alternate: Lynne Lipton
Pilot John Haakonson: The second pilot of the Mark I Jaeger, Romeo Blue. A veteran pilot who's seen his share of battles, both in victory and defeat, he's not one for fame, living in a more spartan style than Michael. Though at first disdainful of Michael's character, he comes to appreciate and gain a level of respect after seeing him try to get his shit together, and even aiding him on occasion when he backslides or has a problem, both forming a friendship which tragically ends in the battle with the Kaiju "Intruder", dying due to sensory overload.
Voiced By: Peter Cullen Alternate: John Erwin
Head Technician Kara Hsu: She is one of the technicians who work in keeping Romeo Blue in service, as the senior and leader of them all, she has a deep knowledge on everything that keeps the Jaeger functioning, and the many ways to fix it quick enough. With the Kaiju attacks increasing, there's been many cuts to her budget, but she's managed to keep things afloat with her contacts in the Black Market. She's Michael's best friend, and helps him understand how to better connect with his daughter, even becoming a surrogate big sister to Elizabeth.
Voiced By: Jodi Benson Alternate: Linda Gary
Dr. Newton "Newt" Geiszler: A scientist studying the Kaiju. A sort of 'everyman' when it comes to science, as well as arrogant, he's highly excitable and hyper focused on anything related to kaijus, wishing to find a way to understand just why is it that they are coming. He's trying to get a position with the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, and hopes they accept his presentation and proposals.
Voiced By: John Moschitta Jr. Alternate: Cam Clarke
Marshall Stacker Pentecost: He's the commanding officer in the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, and a former Jaeger pilot now dying of radiation poisoning due to lax radiation shielding on the "First Generation" Jaeger models. Pentecost has just seen Gipsy Danger be destroyed by the first Category III Kaiju, and is concerned that more will come. Finding Newt before he applies to the PPDC, he makes sure that he at least has a fighting chance in his interview.
Voiced By: Alan Oppenheimer Alternate: Earl Hammond
Hercules "Herc" Hansen: A Jaeger pilot, a member of the same generation as Marshall Pentecost. He pilots the Mark II Jaeger, Lucky Seven, stationed in Los Angeles. He has disdain for Michael due to his carefree attitude, not changing up till the final battle, where he fights alongside Romeo Blue during the "Los Angeles Invasion" where the category III Kaiju "Intruder" manages to break through the walls, destroy Lucky Seven, and nearly destroy the entire city.
Voiced By: Jim Cummings Alternate: René Auberjonois
Stan Wyatt: He is Michael's amoral agent whose only job is making sure his client has the best positive image to the public in order to gain positive publicity. He's eventually fired after suggesting giving Elizabeth up for adoption.
Voiced By: Neil Ross
Mary Hunt: She is Michael's ex-girlfriend. They cared for each other, but the fame and celebrity status went to Michael's head and both sides ended the relationship in anger and tears. She gave birth to their daughter and raised her before dying at the beginning of the film.
Voiced By: Susan Blu
Roxanna: She is Michael's current girlfriend, an actress and thrill seeker who going along for the ride. Though not in love with Michael, she does feel comfortable win their relationship. She does not get along with Elizabeth however, and Michael had to make the decision in the end between both of them, choosing Elizabeth in the end.
Voiced By: Gerriane Raphael
Tom Morrell: Psychologist employed by the PPDC in order to keep their pilots in good mental health. he's dealt with Michael for a while, and aids him when he has to deal with the responsibilities of being a father, while also seeing the positive changes in his new lifestyle.
Voiced By: Mickey Rooney
Category II "Spinebreaker": The first Kaiju to be fought in Act 1. Spinebreaker is the typical Kaiju that Romeo Blue faces, and as such it's shown to be a reasonable fight for both Michael and John. It showcases their skills and the capabilities of the Jaeger.
Category III " Ironbreaker": The second Kaiju to be fought, this time the first half of Act 2. It happens just as things are going wrong for the protagonist to showcase how things are breaking down and he's starting to get over his head. The quick arrival of Lucky Seven is what saves them and manages to keep them alive.
Category II "Crestcutter": The third Kaiju, fight at the beginning of Act 3, fought by Lucky Seven as Romeo Blue is repaired. Both pilots of Romeo Blue have to deal with the new interactions, the new status quo, and their new relationships as they come to grips with what truly matters in the world.
Category III "Intruder": The Fourth Kaiju, coming faster than anyone expected, fought at the end of Act 3. Lucky Seven is still being repaired when it's sent to fight. It wounds him, but "Intruder" manages to get into the city, nearly reaching the shelters before Romeo Blue, still damaged, join the fight, breaking every limit to destroy it (and itself) in the process, but saving the city and the people.
A.N.: Hopefully we can have this done at some point after the Pacific Rim TV Show is done, or perhaps afterwards when people want to see anything related to the idea. Let's face it, Pacific Rim is amazing, and anything related to it will get success (unless you try to make a sequel that has none of the charm of the original, characters that are less expressive than a plank of wood, and put on a story that just doesn't make freaking sense!). Hopefully, this will be good.
(unless you try to make a sequel that has none of the charm of the original, characters that are less expressive than a plank of wood, and put on a story that just doesn't make freaking sense!)
Let's not forget killing one of the previous leads in an anti-climactic death to make way for your shitty OCs and forgetting the other previous lead existed before later putting out some shitty tie-in novel where you kill him with radiation and feel the need to make it very clear that he suffered a lot as he died slowly. Fucking morons.
Couple of ideas that I might play around with in the future, or auction off, who knows.
A cyberpunk Prison Break, where it showcases a slightly exaggerated version of the prison system and allows the public to, maybe not glamorize as it as OTL, to view it with a more critical eye.
Lucasfilm version of That '70s show that's more a mini-series (a lot what hurts that series is bloat) and without the more problematic actors and aspects, like trimming back on the worst traits of the classic everyman character.
An adaption of RL Stine's Fear Street series that doubles as our response to any Satanic Panic sentiments, that all of their zealous fearmongering usually leads to a tragedy of their own making. Also want Matt LeBlanc to play one of the characters in the late '89, cause he's always been one of my favorite underrated actors.
A '90s Metroid TV show in partnership with Nintendo, after we adapt Legend of Zelda.
An American Doctor Who spinoff, whose less interested in adventure and more on preserving perspectives and languages. Like, if the Doctor is a well meaning aristocrat that puts money where their mouth is, this character is a blue collar nurse that's struggling to make ends meet and will absolutely throw down with authority figures and peers that try to tell her how to do her own damn job.

Though it sounds cool, I feel that the cyberpunk element may take away from the entire premise of Prison Break. I mean, I can see how the whole conspiracy angle and big corporation interact with the Cyberpunk genre, but at the same time I always felt that the series had its best run during the first season, mainly because the entire fun of the series is seeing how they manage to escape the Prison, and anything after that just seems a bit boring.

I agree on both counts. Matt Le Blanc did great as Joey in F.r.i.e.n.d.s., but I feel that he was typecasted after that because of a lack of good roles before and after. Perhaps we could have him be a regualr in this series; I'm thinking of him as a framing device, perhaps a police officer who investigates the weird and bizarre case, and as he researches the story is told.
By the way, if we do this, at some point we need to do an entire season showing the origins of Fear Street, and the whole feud between the Fier's and the Goode's.

I disagree here. I feel that we should instead get the distribution rights from the BBC to show Dr. Who in America, and then when the show is about to be cancelled (or perhaps before that) try to get the rights to it so that we may continue the adventures of the Doctor, instead of having to wait for nearly two decades before a revival.
It's starting to feel like our version of the Cyberpunk franchise is this OTL pop culture black hole. Not everything needs to be made into part of it ITTL. How many pitches are directly Cyberpunk-related anyway?

[X] Plan Expansion of Lucasfilm, Mansion Rock, and Bruce' Skills
-[X]Tell the Strikers to Fuck off: You look at the representatives and tell them percisely how you feel. DC: ??? -[X]Marathon Madness: You look at Steve and smile. "You outdid yourself with this one." DC: 10
-[X]Casting Moonlight Dinner: Well you have a nice Dinner to fill. DC: 0 (Begin Casting Miniturn)
-[X]Investing in the Future: You want to Spend some of that money you made into the company and make the whole thing better DC: ??? -(Linetail what you want to invest in, and how much money you want to invest in it):
--[X] Lucasfilm, Japan Campus [$100 Million]: Lucasfilm already has a large presence in Japan, with Sunrise Studios and their connections with Kurasawa and Sunset Toys, it is time to have a campus centralizing Lucasfilm's Japanese departments that also can provide a place where all of the Japanese employees of Lucasfilm can get together and collaborate with support. Including places to film and a subsidiary of ILM, this place will also serve as a way for Lucasfilm to have deeper connections in the Japanese Film Industry as well as have Lucasfilm Japanese directors feel free to experiment. -[X]Investing in the Future: You want to Spend some of that money you made into the company and make the whole thing better DC: ??? -(Linetail what you want to invest in, and how much money you want to invest in it):
--[X] Lucasfilm Legal Expansion [$50 Million]: With strikes starting up again and constant legal attacks from various entitiesLucasfilm needs to expand its legal operations to be that much sharper, that much more effective. Because when you are operating at this stage: mistakes cannot be made.
-[X]And Then We Have a Great Time: Carrie is almost due, and she wants to talk to you about something. DC: 0
-[X]Mary Is now an owner of Lucasfilms: Mike why does it say that Mary owns a near percent of Lucasfilms? DC:0 -[X]Dungeons and Dragons: Carrie, is everything alright? We're waiting for you to roll. DC: 20
-[X]A Well-Known Fan: So some really famous person is a fan of yours. Maybe you'll learn who they actually are. DC???
-[X]Investments: You want to invest your hard-earned cash into something that you feel will be a good return on investment. And as well as diversify your assets DC: 0 (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to invest in)
--[X] $20-$50 Million to buy the houses near Bruce and Carrie's Home and to both increase their safety and security, but also to give them space to allow their friends to crash uninvited without issue and to record music, practice dancing, or just try out new technologies. Having Queen, Robin, George, etc. as friends often leaves the O'Briens with the unexpected. -[X] Research stuff, see if anything piques your interest: You may have graduated High School as a kid, but you never stopped trying to learn. DC: 15 (Write-in what you want to learn about below): Computers
-[X] Research stuff, see if anything piques your interest: You may have graduated High School as a kid, but you never stopped trying to learn. DC: 15 (Write-in what you want to learn about below): Kinesiology
The thought behind the plan is to lay the groundwork for two investments I think would make sense for Bruce: to step into the computer world and also the world of health. Health is self-evident. And, honestly, being a teacher of Martial Arts to a new student and a professional boxer who is also part of a company always trying to push the tech envelope...it makes sense for Bruce to want to actually learn scientifically how to help in his physical work. He could use these skills to invest in starting quality fitness equipment company, a quality supplement company...and eventually invest in a pharma company.
Which we probably really want as AIDS is coming and they will be underfunded and not researched. Having a Pharma company to help with healthcare and one that is made to keep prices of medicines affordable would be a huge good. Also why I am not having Bruce invest too much of his money yet.
Computers because he is surrounded by people who know computers and his company is one of the major tech companies...but he doesn't know much himself. By now, that has got to smart, and he probably would want to learn himself. Also want to start LucasArts soon and maybe get into the console develpment.
As to Lucasfilm, I want to have the company invest in the Legal Department given the many legal trevails that come about and the big negative impact low rolls have, wanted to boost the bonus.
Start the Lucasfilm Japan expansion because it would strengthen Lucasfilm's influence in Japan, starting the vengance against Toho, and also as a way to keep producing if the unions want to keep being unreasonable. We will build another town from which to build films. Many towns, with Japan just being the first.
As to the home: I wanted to have Bruce and Family have a more secure home but also a place for which Queen or Robin can drop by and make amazing music or standup albums. Also hoping that it would help with Bruce's Networking as those are very important and he gets a lot of low rolls.
The idea is to not just give away Bruce's money for a short-term boost, but to start laying the foundation for Bruce to help people in a sustainable way. And to have Lucasfilm start using its huge warchest to build the infrastructure it needs to actually start to try and beat its competitors. With our low rolls and the competitor's high rolls, we are staying in the game but not beating Universal or Disney.
I was actually thinking that we'd modify it a little, such as setting in the '90s, roughly in time Ghosts, so that when they escape, shortly afterward the Federation's strike hits the Midwest and helps set the gang up as Nomads.
And yeah, i do agree a one-season wonder would work better.
Actually, I was thinking that Matt LeBlanc would play Daniel Fear, with Nora and his story (along with their discoveries) being told as a B-Plot flashback sequence that runs throughout the first season via journal entries kept by Nora after she was put into the Asylum [the nurse burning the pages in the book being reframed as Nora being an unreliable narrator), with the person reading them being Jennifer Fear in the present day.
Alternatively, he plays Simon Fear to play against his future Joey persona.
I dont think that every game should get its own series, as the ones that are obvious sequels to each other would be better served as second/third seasons to the appropriate season.
Considering how intertwined the show is with the BBC, and British culture as a whole, I very much doubt they'd let an American Irishman outright buy out the series, with the most they'd go for being a spinoff.
Not to mention the fact that the BBC is Britain's version of PBS, and I don't see the public allowing it to be sold off like that.
1: does anyone know if in the 80s lucasfilm (and mor particulary in this quest) had a head of the merchandising department or even a merchandising department?
I'm trying to write a progress report from the head of the toy sub-department "sunset toys" (that's the function of sunset toys right?) to the head of the merchandising department and I'm not sure if this structure internal is correct or if the report should be adressed to mike, george and bruce,or something else, finding info on this subject is difficult.
It would also help me if someone know the answers to these others questions, it would save me from having to reread the entire quest and the omakes to find the information:
2: do we build our toys close to wher we sold them or in the usa or do we delocalized all in cheap labor country?
3: We do have used kenner to produce the toys for the first game and thus the irl toys of the first movie exist in quest right ?
4: do we have someone at the head of sunset toy or should i invent a name ?
5: where is located lucasfilm and sunset toys HQ ?
Once upon a time, in a distant city from the homeland where dreams seemed to fade like distant memories, there lived a young kid named Alex. Alex was a creative and imaginative child, but life had dealt them a rough hand. She found solace in writing, pouring their heart and soul onto the pages, but lately, even that seemed to be slipping away.
Every afternoon, after the final school bell rang, Alex would rush to Bruce's Gym, who had this great program that was a haven for kids like Alex, providing a safe space for self-expression and creativity. It was there that Alex found comfort, surrounded by children who shared their struggles and passions.
One particular afternoon, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the gymnasium, Alex sat at a worn wooden desk, staring at a blank page. The rough draft for the film pitch they were working on lay incomplete, the words refusing to flow. Doubt gnawed at Alex's heart, whispering that their dreams were nothing but childish fantasies.
Bruce, the kind-hearted mentor who ran the program, approached Alex's desk. His gentle eyes held a spark of understanding. He had witnessed the struggle within Alex, the battle between hope and despair. Bruce placed a hand on Alex's shoulder and whispered, "You're stronger than you think, kid. Your words have power. Don't let the darkness win."
Inspired by Bruce's words, Alex took a deep breath and picked up the pen. They closed their eyes, seeking inspiration within the depths of her imagination. Slowly, the ink began to flow, as if the pen itself was infused with their resilience.
The story that unfolded on the page mirrored Alex's own journey—a tale of a young hero facing unimaginable challenges. The protagonist, a mirror image of Alex, confronted their fears and doubts head-on, discovering strength in vulnerability. It was a story of hope, resilience, and the power of self-belief.
As the words spilled onto the page, Alex's confidence grew, and her heart swelled with a newfound determination. They realized that their struggles were not their identity, but the stepping stones towards greatness.
As days turned into weeks, and the rough draft transformed into a rough masterpiece, at which point, Bruce found her by theirlonesome and introduced them to a friend of his, Dave, whose very job was writing, and did his absolute best to help her with refining her craft, until eventually they felt ready to share it.
Alex's film pitch, filled with vivid imagery and heartfelt emotions, became a testament to their resilience and unwavering spirit. The story resonated with all who read it, igniting a flame of inspiration within each heart.
On the day of the presentation, as Alex stood before the crowd, their nerves tinged with excitement, they glanced around the room. Faces beamed with anticipation, ready to hear the story that had captured their imaginations.
With a deep breath, Alex began to speak. Their voice rang with passion, every word flowing effortlessly. Chain Breaker: Rise of Fenrir: by Alexandru Floarea [ Animation | Urban Fantasy / Crime ]
In the gritty underworld of a modern-day metropolis, Fenrir, a reluctant hero with supernatural abilities, must confront Odin, a ruthless mob boss, to break the chains of corruption and save the city from descending into darkness.
Fenrir, a troubled and mysterious loner, wanders the city streets, haunted by his tragic past and burdened by his extraordinary powers. Unbeknownst to him, the city is under the iron grip of Odin, a charismatic and merciless mob boss who uses his criminal empire to control everything from politics to law enforcement.
When Fenrir saves a young woman, Freya, from a gang of thugs, he unwittingly becomes entangled in a web of conspiracy. Freya, a resourceful journalist and activist, recognizes Fenrir's powers and sees in him the potential to be a force for good. She convinces him to use his abilities to confront Odin and dismantle his criminal organization.
With Freya's guidance, Fenrir embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover Odin's secrets and weaken his grip on the city. As Fenrir delves deeper into the underworld, he encounters a colorful cast of characters: Heimdall, a street-smart informant with a penchant for mischief, and Loki, a master of illusion and trickery who may hold the key to Odin's downfall.
As Fenrir's actions threaten Odin's operations, the mob boss grows increasingly wary. He dispatches his loyal enforcers, the Valkyries, to eliminate Fenrir and anyone who stands in their way. Fenrir's battles with the Valkyries become increasingly intense, showcasing his superhuman strength, agility, and resilience.
With each victory, Fenrir inspires hope among the city's downtrodden populace. Ordinary citizens begin to rise up against Odin's tyranny, forming an underground resistance movement. Fenrir, now a symbol of rebellion, leads the charge against Odin, culminating in an epic confrontation atop the city's tallest skyscraper.
Amidst the chaos and destruction, Fenrir confronts Odin face to face. The battle between the two forces of nature reaches its climax, with Fenrir tapping into his full potential and wielding his powers as the Chain Breaker, a champion of justice. Through sheer determination, Fenrir defeats Odin and shatters the chains of corruption that bind the city.
In the aftermath, the city begins to heal and rebuild, with Fenrir serving as its protector and guiding light. Freya continues her fight for truth and justice, using her platform as a journalist to expose the remnants of Odin's criminal empire. As the credits roll, the city is shown gradually transforming into a place of hope and redemption...and yet, the shadows of ravens scream in the distance, as Fenrir continues his search for his past. A/N: Alex is a Romanian kid brought over by Project Lighthouse and struggling to find their voice, the pitch based on them watching way too much Columbo before being inspired to write this after watching the recent season of A Classical Tale [OTL, it's inspired by 'Chain Breaker' by Brothers of Metal].
By the way, she doesn't think that the Bruce from the gym, is the same one they've seen in Star Wars, and is completely convinced that that they're different people, because why would anyone famous talk to a kid like them?
These are insane and unreasonable demands and since they aren't even trying to negotiate they can go strait to hell, time to smash a union and let a new one rise.

Yeah unlike last time I don't think the strikers here will find much sympathy from the general public. The 1975 Strike was one formulated by a whole lot of abuses and injustice towards the working man and woman in Hollywood. Here it's all monetarily motivated. It starts out understandably with the Writers and Actors wanting a fair share of the VHS residuals and not being left out by the Home Market, but then the Directors and Producers come in and screw everything by asking for double digit residuals, HALF of all merchandising and million dollar salaries as the bare minimum. Both guilds just successfully turned the Strike from a fight for fair compensation into "Greedy Hollywood Elite wants to be Super Rich" which is how Hollywood strikes were traditionally viewed until 2023.
Then the Animation Guild comes in and just makes the most ridiculous and childish claims, trying to punish the studio which pays their workers rich wages for having Japanese employees and doing partnerships with a Japanese studio, not to mention you can't work in animation unless you're outside LA, further undermining the legitimate greivances present among the strike.
Even worse in comparison to '75 is that here the Strike is happening right in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression with super inflation and considering the insane numbers that movies are pulling, that just paused the most productive portion of the California economy so Sacramento, both Republican and Democrat are not gonna be happy. The fact that five guilds are striking at the same time could also be seen as a Solidarity strike which is illegal in American law under Taft-Hartley, so all it takes is one wrong move and the Justice Department will lay down the law. The strikers should be grateful that this is Carter's last year cause if Reagan was in office he'd instantly enforce Taft-Hartley.
With Stagflation I can't see the shutdown lasting too long, probably the three months of OTL.
If the Attorney General's race went as OTL then the California Attorney General at the moment is George Deukmejian, the guy who became Governor in 1983. Considering he's a staunch Reaganite then I could definitely see him filing with the Justice Department to declare the strike illegal. Although at the same time a sympathetic judge could rule in favor and the Supreme Court at this time is liberal so it's a toss-up.
Really it all depends on just which strikes were natural because of expiring contract and a desire to include new terms and who was opportunistic. If we take the 1975 Strikers to have all made contracts which expired at the same time, then only the Actors, Writers and Producers could legally strike. Since the Animation Strike took place last year, then them immediately launching a strike the next year after having technically won on paper could be seen as Solidarity. Directors are a toss-up on if their grounds for strike action can be considered to be a just cause.
So everyone but the animators can justify themselves in court.
The Animation guild also don't udnerstand that we own the company as well. Like we can send people from the A Team, to the B Team, to the C Team, or to whatever the hell they want to do.

Okay I can see this working, but to be fair, none of this nuance was conveyed or written in the original Omake post, you're sharing this outside of the post.
A sequel to the events of Call of Duty: Tijuana Takedown, set against the backdrop of the Central American Wars in the cyberpunk world, unfolds a harrowing tale. In response to the devastating 2nd US-Mexico War, still ongoing, and with the United States preparing to open up a second front in Columbia, where it seeks to disrupt the production of illicit drugs, undercutting the source of the Mexican cartels' revenue stream, the oil-producing nations of Latin America, particularly Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Peru and Venezuela, establish the "People's Federation of Gran Columbia", and immediately embarks on a path of extensive reform and industrialization, preparing itself for a formidable conflict against the United States. With its largely Marxist leadership (propped up by the Arasaka Megacorp and the faltering Soviet state), the Federation becomes increasingly motivated to combat America are now deeply rooted in their opposition to what they perceive as American imperialism, particularly in light of their experiences in Mexico and as a form of revenge for Operation Condor and the right-wing dictatorships that plagued Latin America. This organic motivation fuels their swift conquest of Latin America, buoyed by popular support and a fervent desire to overthrow corrupt military juntas. It also serves as a poignant reckoning for America's Cold War policies and serves as a stark warning against treating Latin America as a mere playground for geopolitical games. As their power grows exponentially, the Federation preemptively launches a series of calculated invasions, swiftly conquering large swathes of Central America, the Caribbean, and even the newly acquired US territory of Mexico. In a desperate bid to reclaim lost ground, the United States initiates a counter-invasion, plunging both nations into a prolonged and grueling conflict over territory. [ The strain of this war ultimately leads to the collapse of the United States, paving the way for the rise of the Megacorps as the controlling force in the newly formed New United States of America (NUSA). ]
But amidst this chaos and geopolitical upheaval, a group known as the Ghosts takes center stage. Comprised of highly skilled U.S. Special Operations personnel, they are trained in the art of covert operations. Led by the seasoned retired U.S. Army Captain Elias Walker, the team includes his sons Logan and David "Hesh" Walker, accompanied by their loyal German Shepherd named Riley. Joining them are Captain Thomas Merrick and Gunnery Sergeant Keegan P. Russ. The story begins with Elias Walker captivating his sons with the legend of the Ghosts, recounting the origins of this elite coalition of U.S. Special Operations units.
Meanwhile, the Federation attempts to seize control of the Orbital Defense Initiative (ODIN), a formidable orbital superweapon comprised of satellites capable of unleashing devastating kinetic bombardments, to unleash its full arsenal on the entirety of the United States, but in a desperate act of sacrifice, U.S. Space Command astronauts self-destruct the space station to prevent Federation soldiers from launching the station's entire payload; unfortunately, they were unable to prevent four rods from being dropped on the Midwestern United States, leading to the loss of Chicago, Columbus, Indianapolis and Milwaukee, and devastation throughout the entire region, leading to America retaliating by nuking several of the Federation's major cities. But with full scale nuclear and space war is prohibited by a recent treaty introduced by the Japanese, with the full backing of the USSR and Pan-African Alliance, the United States is largely confined to conventional battle tactics.
As the narrative unfolds, the Federation expands its control through ruthless invasions, occupying Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico. A grueling war of attrition ensues between the United States and the Federation, with a heavily fortified frontline known as "No Man's Land" bisecting the Mexican territory. Hesh and Logan, now integral members of their father's Ghost unit, embark on daring missions to rescue their captured comrade, Ajax, and confront the treacherous Gabriel Rorke, a turncoat operative.
Through a series of intense battles, including a Federation assault on Santa Monica, California, the Walker family reunites amidst the chaos. Elias, revealed as the enigmatic leader of the Ghosts, recruits his sons into the unit, sharing the tragic tale of Rorke's transformation from a revered Ghost leader to a brainwashed operative for the Federation. Determined to bring justice to their fallen comrades, the Ghosts mount a daring assault on Rorke's heavily fortified base. However, their valiant efforts are thwarted when Federation forces destroy their escape plane, leaving them trapped and vulnerable.
Undeterred, the indomitable Ghosts uncover the Federation's plans for a new and more devastating superweapon. Launching a daring counterattack, they systematically dismantle key Federation installations, including their own version of ODIN known as LOKI. With each victory, the Ghosts inch closer to turning the tide of the war...even as corporate interests seemingly act against them with the unveiling of their barely disciplined PMC forces, with one of them, a Pvt. Robert John Linder, deserting them after one of the counter-assaults.
Yet, their triumphs are short-lived as Rorke and the Federation capture the Ghosts, leading to the heartbreaking execution of Elias. In a final desperate act, the remaining U.S. forces launch a daring and audacious assault, utilizing their last remaining aircraft carrier and collaborating with the U.S. Space Force. It is during this climactic battle that Hesh and Logan, consumed by vengeance, take it upon themselves to infiltrate the Federation's space center, determined to confront Rorke and put an end to his reign of terror once and for all.
In a thrilling and heart-wrenching showdown, Rorke shoots Logan and leaves him to drown, believing he has claimed victory. However, against all odds, Logan survives, only to be captured by Rorke, who intends to subject him to the same brainwashing torment he himself had endured.
The story concludes with a post-credits scene, revealing Logan imprisoned and subjected to the merciless methods of Rorke, leaving the fate of the protagonist uncertain and casting a shadow of uncertainty over the future. A/N: Roommate has been really into the new CoD beta, talking about how they're reintroducing a few of the mechanics from Ghosts has got me nostalgic, so...yeah.
[EDIT: Made changes to the pitch as per Kaiser Chris' suggestions; original, unedited pitch provided below.
Logan's perspective is to showcase a completely different perspective in that of a patriotic, borderline jingoistic, soldier who can see the logistical supplychain breaking down before his eyes and is still choosing to move forward, partly because they do not see another way. They see the PMC soldier coming in to take "their glory", who is (for the moment) trained to much lower standards and their shortcomings made up for with better technology. They're seeing the United States and all her promises fade as they realize the war has taken too many lives and is about to explode into something akin to the Russian Revolution (that preceded the Bolshevik Revolution). It's to showcase the setting as it solidifies into a Broken Dream.]
