On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Let you cook…
Does that involve not speculating on what Snorri might have dissaproved of in the kid?
Because if so I will say no more but I think I've already heard it said.

I think it's because Thorgrim has in essence began the process of turning the entire dwarf race into slayers. Living only to strike out grudges. Killing only for the sake of fixing the issues of the old instead of leading his people into a prosperous future.

Yup as Important clearing grudges is Whitebear atleast worked to bring his people to prosperetiy even with the ancestors gone.

I would love to read a sequel fic to this story where Snorri survives to that era. It would most definitely be powerwank, but you could easily get 10-12 solid chapters out of the concept before it gets boring.

Nah that's fine. Just my execution may be not what people expect or want, but maybe Im misreading my thread culture. :^)
Well then.
He declared an Age of Vengeance.
All the joy and prosperity that rediscovering the North could bring…
And he instead would bend it to redressing the slights of foolish pride? Throwing the hidden north into the meat grinder that the rest of the Dawi found themselves in?…
It is something that would see so many stories like the one that marked the Gift Giver when this quest began.

A hand falls limp.

Despite everything Starbreaker really was a Great. He just had a shitty heir and terrible luck with his Counterpart being the worst King of the Asur.
He did basically everything he could to avoid starting the War of Vengeance, and he actually decided to end it without completely breaking Ulthuan. As far as kings handling grudges of that magnitude, he was downright temperate.

If I remember right the Age of Vengeance is about resolving as many grudges as possible before they all go to the underearth. There is no hope for a brighter future for they will never surpass or even equal the ancestors, just a long warcry in the darkness.

Snorri is probably one of the few dwarfs that while he misses the ancestors, doesn't think they can't never be lost and manage to rise to the occasion. Yes failure is a possibility but so is success. Solving the grudges is important aye but not at the price of their lives. I don't think he would support the concept of the slayers pushed to its extrems only the biggest crimes I can see him begrudgingly let these dwarfs go to their doom. If the concept start to appear I don't think we'll ever manage to kill the movement in the egg but we could disaprov the more extrem version of canon.

Master Rune of the Inviolate/Skalla Honestheart: The deceptive winds of the Willful pour over the wear like a river, but they do no harm and find no chink in their armor, forged with certainty. Instead the Winds unleashed are broken; and indeed may even be shifted to heal the wearer, using the power stolen from the enemy to heal the wearer, restoring them to what they were.

Master Rune of the Certain: All magic fails; it's why the Runesmiths refuse to let it do what it wants and instead bind it into the proper shapes and ways as they do; and most failure prone of all is Tzeentch's. A talisman with this Rune makes the process less random and more active for the Runesmith: any caster of Tzeentch, whether that be his Lore or his Mark, who attempts to cast a spell on the bearer will be more likely to miscast.

Both are the creations of Skalla Honestheart, who over the decades has proven more than a pain to the Willful, in spite of her (relative) youth.

Yep and Engineers Guild show that Progress is possible that can let them if not match the Golden Age still be prosperous and strong in their own right.

You have to wonder what the right answer would have been. I doubt Thorgrim saying he'd yeet the book of grudges into a volcano and get on with it would really work either since Snorri is still a dwarf. Declaring an age of reclamation or consolidation maybe?

Also I want to know what he gave the Winterhearth party cause there's no way he'd let them go back home empty handed.

Voting's open!

[X] [Write-in] Ask Rorek Three Questions that don't pertain to political or Runesmith secrets.
-[X] Question 1: The political climate of the runesmiths of Izril, including himself.
-[X] Question 2: How interested the south is in Elven/Brana trade goods and interaction in general.
-[X] Question 3: His thoughts on Zorn and its relationship to the rest of the Southern Holds.

[X] [Knowledge:] Reveal a moderate amount.

Would bet on Hearthguard Level equipment and maybe a T4 as the Best piece.

Yay voting!

And I'll throw in some alternatives to Question 2 that I like.

-[X] Question 2: Given that Snorri is committed to doing Khazagar, what are Rorek's thoughts on future pitfalls it may face?

-[X] Question 2: Would Rorek be interested in future discussions and letter exchange?

I like Bungie's alternative questions, especially letter exchange.

As soul told me when I asked, the letter exchange will be a roll but hey! I'm willing to roll the dice on that one. Making another connection down south sounds cool.
