I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Heck. If anyone is worried about either books or keys getting sole then chunk a Rune of Alarm on them.

Those can be tuned to species or specific persons.

Pff, just finished anyways. No more copy plans after that last update I gave. Meaning that there was in total 39 unique and valid plans, plus another two that were missing options. @soulcake Gave us a massive glut of options.

These plan all go to the max on classes and have every service option is selected in some way for I see all these options as super useful for runesmithing and want to have the at minimum the basis for them all built up so we can expand on them later.

Edit: Will add in new plans as I see them that I will approval vote for now but may not carry the same all services requirement as above

Lastly, for procurement and library, I'd note that again this seems to very much be an analysis of my plan rather than four maximum plans as a whole but if this is your problem I'd differ you to Bird is the Word as a four maximum plan as it seems to do equally as much for what you want in the form of classes as well as forums and forges as the plan you're presently voting for.

I was analyzing your plan yeah. My reading of Soul's statements is different from yours, on the back of the idea that if we end up at Standing 8 the controversy will last till the academy proves itself but the loss of respect that controversy generates will last until we get back to Standing 10. And so for the opening period of the academy, its proving time, and however long it takes to repair Standing after that, Conservative attendance will be lower than it could be.

You're middle paragraph is a little hard to parse but it ties into your last one so here's my logic: Baseline, some of the Maximums I don't want right now because of what they normalize. Library is the big one, as I believe normalizing across the Region the recording of certain information is not a good idea right now. Therefore Bird is the Word is not taken. I also don't want 4 maximums period right now, I want to space that out.

If we end result at Standing 10 for everyone, into the opening and proving periods of the academy, Conservative attendance will be consistent across that period. When it comes time to expand again, I would want to expand the library to Maximum and nothing else, and I'm fine with leaving it out if necessary. We will probably take a standing hit once we expand and at that point its fine, I'll have had a long period of my goals being achieved and we can work to repair the damage and then just carry on when its fixed.

So I am in this intersection space where I want to balance things such that I rule out plans that go below 10 and 10 Standing, four maximum plans in general, and anything that takes the Library maximum.

yah the whole anti library thing really befuddles me especially since the knowledge being written down would not be runelore at all and only the highest option even normalizes the writing down of any information by runesmiths. Also my previous post on it

It would be immensely valuable to the many journeymen trying to figure how to use this reagent that they have never seen. Masters Runesmith trying to figure out this new magical phenomenon they haven't seen before. Runelord trying to figure out how to fight this new enemy that has appeared for dwarves. Finally Snorri who this moment is using his vast pile of books to develop dwarven alchemy which if it succeeds would be groundbreaking invention. The utility of a library would be immensely valuable from the lowest to the highest member of our mighty guild.

We shouldn't rely on holocrons for this which we don't even know are an option yet and if they are on how far down on whatever tree(s) it is to do it. It's basically a moot factor at the end of the day. Also even if they are a thing we could research it require convincing the thread to do that and stay committed to that.

Also we're all just reading a Digital book in @soulcake story here and we all think this story is super cool therefore you think books are cool :V

So let's not just dismiss the library so quickly this doesn't mean we should go all the way for the maximum option for this but we should at least have the bare minimum of a library for all the members of the guild who will come here for us and them to build on us in the future.

The key thing here in my mind regardless of how many maximums we're willing to spend is to have no guild type services, or as little as we can agree on having of them.

I'd prefer a sub 2 max plan, but the key thing is to be tightly focused on being a school to mitigate the allegations we're sure to meet.

Business stuff and material discounts not based on worthiness tests in particular are likely to be red flags since they're particularly guildy things to do. As is forge space that is used for actual business to a lesser extent.

The library is verging on heretical even without runelore, but at least it's doesn't contribute to the perception that Snorri literally thinks he knows better than his god.

Just want to state that we can only normalize if we go all in on a category, the entire point of this exercise is to change rune smithing for the better so it's better to fully commit then spread ourselves wide.
Also remember that standing is use it or lose it, we will have to pay standing costs later at full price if we change anything so we want as few total revisions possible to Snorri's workshop.
For people who are extremely hostile to books or who think dawi robots that perfectly replicate the original can be done in several turns remember the library will have mind bogglingly insane security and if the moonshot works and we get robot dawi Snorri can just replace the books with them.
If we hold off on the library now we will bleed standing later and waste lots of it now, Durin's dream only overflows 2 radical standing and has taken everything that could reduce radical standing.
