Man, as an aside, the bid split on Bad People is pretty bad. It spends the most money in the item we know for sure people are the least interested in while spending the least on the literal unknown. It's reversal of priorities if we do want a chance of grabbing both. Might as well not bother with the Manual, frankly.
 
Russ having a sudden interest in protection against possession and astral stuff makes him likelier to be the Dream Queen target, in my eyes. And that is a clock that is already ticking. I would really like to have the Encantus, but...

An encantus by itself was enough to turn someone like Drake into a dangerous spellcaster. Those things are extremely thorough guides are could massively improve our occult heroes.

I don't think we should get the Talisman based on "Dream Queen" paranoia, and even if the Dream Queen is targeting Russ I don't think solving it will be as easy as getting the Talisman here.

If you want the Talisman out of any completionist desire then I don't think your wish will be granted since it's quite likely getting all Talismans would require direct offensive action against third parties, something this playerbase seems unwilling to do, since we are in this pro-social bent already. We'd end up with 6 or so before something else grabs our interest instead.

I can understand your feat that we might not win talisman even with all our money, but there is stuff other than Dream Queen that Talisman could help with. Like clapping random demons from trying to possess us or enter our head (hi Bill). Or research the talisman itself to replicate its effect. Plus more rep with Russ from following his advice.
 
Encantus most likely will let us increase Doof occult points, which also will be useful in cases of possession and dream attacks . Most likely talisman will offer us larger bonuses in this specific cases, but will be useless in most other situations.
 
I mean, given people were leery of even a 12 bid the only way people would be safe with getting both is if we didn't spend at all in the previous rounds and just put 15 in both here. Since we didn't do that, it's either trying to grab multiple items people don't show much interest in or one big ticket item. It was always going to be like this in retrospect.

I would pretty much prefer the Morganian Enchantus, less attention, Janna likes it, etc. But since no plan with it in it has support I'll be voting for this.
 
Can we get both the book and the talisman? The morganian one is only being sought by Owen and Xanatos had buyed what? 3-4 items already? His money must be running low and most will be after the Merlinian one or the Witchcraft book. So I think we have a good chance with getting both with 10/7 split with Talisman being a priority.

It's part of a set, you see, that supposedly gives you infinite power or whatever, and it's so much easier to buy them then go on ridiculous quests to the ends of the earth where you meet stuff like living stone statues or stupidly powerful magical people claiming to be gods.



I Can't wait to see how Xanatos will react.

And QM mentioned that Horvath, Pandarus and Redhead Number 1 didn't spend a single point yet. And Talisman is the hottest item in the bid, as far as we know. I'd rather play it safe with 17 on Talisman, since I doubt any of them have funds on the level of megacorporation. And we know that at least Horvath might split his funds. Decent chance of Pandarus trying his luck with Devil Book too.
