Fair point, but so would Lizzy. Just thoughts.

Lizzie lacks the desert experience of Wile E. That said, I edited that post - he may not be disadvantaged against robots.

Actually, all of the villains were terrible in their source material. We spiffed them up for DoofQuest.

That said, I could make Teamo Supremo very scary...

Ah, ok. You did a good job, then, this is how a crossover should be.

Shit, Lizzy is actually a really good choice, now that I think about it. Dennis would have been super useful in Hawaii because of his Sandwich trait, so much so that the fact that we had him at all gave significant diplomacy boosts, right? Well, Queen Lizzy can probably do something with cockroaches, which could lead to interesting shenanigans with Wall-E, should he be around in some capacity.

Ludvine/Hego/Wile E/Lizzy and maybe Tobe if we don't need his group elsewhere? It'd be a large group, so sneaking in and out might be an issue, but Wile E knows the area and Tobe's group are competent ninjas.

Tobe's group are competent ninjas

Barely. In any case, let's check what the stat block of that would be.

Martial: 15(Ludivine)+28(Hego)+5(Lizzy Trait). Can vary a bit, +3 for narrative conventions, +20 for applied science (setting up an emp, perhaps, or disassembling robots. Could definitely come up) and -2 for pragmatic foes, as Hego switches over to Lizzy. Maximum is therefore 71, minimum is 46. Still quite good.

Diplomacy: 20(Ludivine)+15(Coyote)-5(Lizzy Trait) = 30. Not great, but not terrible I guess. It probably isn't the focus of a quest like this in any case.

Stewardship: 9(Ludivine)+22(Coyote)=31. I'm not sure how Super Acme works on quests, so he could get a +5/-5 here, and if it's tech-related Ludivine gets a +20, which seems like stuff like disassembling robots? Though that might be Learning. In any case, not likely a focus. Also triggers Joking Around for explosion and critfail thresholds.

Intrigue: 6(Ludivine)+17(Lizzy)=23. Lower than I would have liked.

Learning: 40(Ludivine)+30(Lizzy)=70. Very good.

So, what happens if we add Tobe? +10 to Occult, obviously, and brings Intrigue up to 30. However, Our Battle Will Be Legendary also has a high chance of triggering in Intrigue situations, which is where we'd need the intrigue, as the +5 to martial still puts him 2 below Lizzy so it won't be him making contested martial checks, and it will bring his intrigue stat back down to 19 for a bonus of 25, barely better than Lizzy, so if another intrigue hero is available it will likely be better. I do like the idea of sending former nemesis haver Coyote and current nemesis wanter Tobe on a quest together, however.

[X] Talk to one of Janna's 'Contacts'

Practically, I think we'd be better off contacting a potion seller right after we made an automatic potion maker.

But I've gotta know what Janna's contacts are.

Also, good lord is it early to be rolling out hypothetical plans. We don't know what we're getting from the auction yet, we don't know what the Shego discussion has opened up, we haven't seen Rival reports, we don't know if the Blot is moving yet, we don't know Wendy's stats, we don't know if we need to stick Khan on Occult to analyze his artifacts, we don't know what our new Stewardship heroes look like...

Broadly commenting that we should start rolling for Castle Doofhawk or prioritize Normbot upgrades is one thing, suggesting that our hero pool can likely support a quest or two is another, but rolling out entire plans at this juncture? A bit much.

I feel like this conversation was dicussed before.

@Made in Heaven : Wow these villains are terrible, but I need some free agents, I'm going to rewrite them to be entertaining.
Newbies to the thread: Wow these villains are fun and interesting. I'm really curios about this show and want to know more.

I will accept no plan that is not made now, and in perfect detail, with no deviations what-so-ever.

[x] Find a Potion Seller

Hm. Wonder who that is
It's Eda! Eda the Owl Lady from The Owl House.
Because she says that she prefers to work with partners, and we hoping that she has trait that let her take actions with other hero. Momakase has good stats but questionable loyalty and has higher chance that she already recruited. Personally my other favorites for recruitment Mezmerella and Gomez .
Also, because she has synergy with TECHNOR.

Don't risk Hego while Shego is still around.
There are degrees of risk. It's been explicitly pointed out that Hego has a craving for heroics. Putting him up against cunning and ruthless foes who would use Glory Daze against him is a bad idea, but that doesn't mean we can never risk exposing him to violence. Hego does in fact have great physical strength and, importantly, durability; he isn't going to go down easily except to the most overwhelming of threats.

Furthermore, the Wasteland quest is likely to be relatively safe in that the most obvious dangers are mostly environmental hazards (which we can prepare him against) and AUTO's robots, which in general are going to default to nonlethal options unless extremely provoked.

For one thing, it's an easy DC, easier than many of our other Diplomacy options. For another, I think it's a step towards investing in, then taking over their tech companies.
As for Shere Khan, why ally with him when we can take over his share of the market? We're going to be revolutionizing shipping and energy generation, what benefit do we have from allowing him to keep his crown?
Because he is an angry, vengeful, powerful, ruthless, extremly wealthy tiger-man who will fight with every fiber of his being to avoid being deprived of his crown? Because we gain nothing by antagonizing him, and the world is big enough for both of us? Because even if we are undermining his profits, he will still have great resources with which to cause us harm if he views us as an enemy or a threat?

Beyond fears of going in blind, what's a reason not to do One Man's Trash? It almost certainly doesn't require an Occult hero for much, leaving Janna free to do our occult action (likely a study auction stuff, or somesuch) and Kitsune to Goblin Fox it up. It could help us get some AI techs, just info on what's going on, and possibly salvage as well.
Yeah. Even garbage salvaged from the BnL Wasteland could be very valuable, since it's going to be high tech. Look at what we gained from the GalFed spaceship, even given that it had been deliberately stripped down into a barely-functional hulk by GalFed standards.

Also, yet another reason to send Hego! Superhuman strength means superhuman ability to carry loot! :)

So, a first draft of a potential One Man's Trash expedition, with some basic justifications

Leader: Ludivine Von Drake
-She really seemed in her element in Xanadu. While her low Intrigue is a curse and Stewardship as well, I don't think Stewardship comes up a lot on quests like these, and that 40 learning will be vital in understanding all the fancy tech there.
Von Drake wouldn't be a bad choice, but is also highly in demand every turn for one thing or another. On the other hand, we could also pencil in any of a number of other characters.

Members:
Hego:
-As mentioned. He's got a good martial stat and a pretty good stewardship as well, and it's a good place to put him, I'd think. He can do some ADVENTURE! and such. I'm vaguely worried that the mission will go very well and we'll encounter AUTO who is almost certainly a "Particularly ruthless or pragmatic foe" but still.
I doubt we'll directly encounter AUTO, but even if we do... he's a foe who tries not to kill humans. As such, he probably won't kill Hego, just imprison him somehow, at which point Shego may be mad at us but we have a good chance of refocusing her anger on AUTO directly. Since we sent Hego into an area that was not, so far as we knew, actively dangerous, and oh hey it turned out to be infested with robots, who knew... We at least have an honorable excuse that we didn't think we were endangering his life.

Tobe:
+10 occult, in case we need it, though it seems unlikely, and a good Intrigue stat. If we need him on an actual intrigue action, of course, don't put him here. At least partially dependant on the outcome of Speed Dating.
Agreed- and Tobe, while skillful as an Intrigue hero, is also low-skill enough that we can dispense with his services for a turn. Plus, the combination of Tobe and Hego blundering around in the Wasteland is likely to be hilarious.

Possible Members:
Queen Lizzy:
-A good learning score to boost rolls there even higher, though her martial is kind of worse than Hego's unless Glory Daze triggers. Given the situation, however, martial is probably more important than Diplomacy here, and thus Only My Enemies might trigger. Worried about putting her and Hego on the same mission, because she kind of is a villain I think.
Yes. Also, Lizzy is a strong Learning hero to back up the quest lead. And sure, she may be a 'villain,' but she's a villain in the process of redemption, much more so than Shego! If Hego's okay with his own sister, and if he works with Doof, he can find room to work with Lizzy.

Janus Lee:
-Stewardship and Diplomacy to make up for Ludivine's lack, along with a Learning bonus himself. Also, his Vehicle Design specialty could come in handy if we get in the Axiom.

Wile E Coyote:
-Once again, stewardship intrigue and learning. He'll probably be free, because Critting Stewardship likely means one or two new stewardship heroes.
Also good contenders. Honestly, Lee or Coyote might well make good alternative team leaders in case Ludivine can't be spared. Both are strong in at least 2-3 areas, without being critically weak in any others.

Well, Janus' low Martial is a concern, but Martial rolls involving combat often let all members of the team contribute, not just the leader and the specialist... and we can always give Janus the Potion of Fire Breath or some other Martial enhancer.

We can build a pretty effective team out of, say...

-Wile E. Coyote
-Hego
-Lizzy
-Tobe

That covers all the bases tolerably well except for maybe Diplomacy; we are painfully short on hero units with Diplomacy higher than about 20.

Von Drake wouldn't be a bad choice, but is also highly in demand every turn for one thing or another. On the other hand, we could also pencil in any of a number of other characters.

Basically, she's either a specialized martial hero or a tech hero, right? That turn we can have Khan or Norm do martial, and Jumba + Lee do tech. It's not impossible, as you point out, to shake her loose, though it does mean we can't put Ludivine, Lizzy, and Lee on a quest very easily.

Agreed- and Tobe, while skillful as an Intrigue hero, is also low-skill enough that we can dispense with his services for a turn.
Tobe, unfortunately, has that trait that boosts martial at the cost of intrigue when making rolls against high martial targets. This isn't enough to have a useful martial on the quest as it currently stands, and reduces his intrigue in high-risk situations. While helpful at, say, sneaking past mooks, it isn't as useful against actual hero units.

[X] Talk to one of Janna's 'Contacts'

If we're seriously considering doing the Wasteland quest I think we should have the team take Janus' car, seems like it'd be useful for navigating the wastes and let us store any shinies the team finds.

I've noticed that a strong majority of all characters we have Cards for are Supers. Just something I wanted to point out.

I might be misunderstanding the point of the game, but aren't we supposed to try to be Earth's Supreme Overlord? The last man standing? Shere Khan is likely dangerous and will be for some time after we cut off his income stream, but I'm not seeing the problem with that.

If we're pressed on hero units, Wile+Lizzy+Hego is a solid squad in and of itself. Wile is our third best quest leader, not counting FP Technor, and he has a reasonable spread among all his stats; and, considering how that's likely to be a less diplomacy heavy quest, the fact that he only has 15 Diplo isn't that big a downside. Lizzy is also one of our best heroes, just on stat spread, clocking in approximately equal to Von Drake and Mirage in 5th place. Equally helpful for stats is their specialties; Wile is a desert veteran, and both Wile and Lizzy have experience with robots, so their learning stat is narratively appropriate to the task. Hego can help up Martial and Stewardship, while his low stats - intrigue and learning - are already covered pretty well by Lizzy. The only thing such a quest lacks is diplomacy, and we have a real lack of diplomat heroes, so it was probably always going to lack that. In theory Janus, Von Drake or Wendy could have a good fit with the quest premise, but they're all in serious demands for actions so it's questionable if we can spare them, especially for a stat we mostly have covered and a stat we're less likely to use.

Martial: 25+28+5=58
Diplomacy: 15+11-5=21
Stewardship: 22+18=40
Intrigue: 16+17=33
Learning: 21+30=51

I think Continue the Feldrake World Tour is more important. Unless you want to take two quests in one turn?
Ehh. Those quests strike me as likely to be unusually difficult or challenging. I'd prefer to do one of those in the January/February turn, when we can double-stack quest participation and a personal action by taking the retreat option.

A reason not to do it next turn specifically is to wait until the Jan/Feb of next year, ie the turn after next. That way, we can throw people on it and still have them take personal actions because of company retreat, assuming it's a once-per-year thing.
Yes, but we can't put off all our quests that way. We've got enough heropower now that we can throw together a pretty good B-list lineup pretty much whenever we want, without seriously compromising our plans for National Actions

Kitsune critted on magical defence so it's possible we don't need to deal with Goblin Fox next turn. Also Summon Demons option probably can satisfy her trait.
OK, but your first sentence contains an "it's possible," one that's a bit of a Hail Mary pass. And your second sentence involves trusting Kitsune to summon demons, a prospect that does not fill me with confidence about the outcome being favorable.

I might be misunderstanding the point of the game, but aren't we supposed to try to be Earth's Supreme Overlord? The last man standing?
"Supposed to" by who? It's Doof, the man's too lovable and fallible to make a good Supreme Overlord of Earth anyway. If it happens, it happens, but constantly stressing ourselves out over how it isn't happening, or seeking costly and counterproductive confrontations with like eight Kings at a time over it, is just counterproductive.
