On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Speaking of the Heart and Adamant though, a bit of distant good news in that whatever we end up making with the Heart will benefit from more than "just" being massively resistant to damage thanks to Adamant.
Honestly, thats why I want to apply it to a capstone of research

Rushing to use it at this stage of the game is just a massive waste. Even if I personally support the Gronti angle because I want to construct a Walking Set Bonus Narrative, I'm also fine with using it to juice up whatever lays at the end path of Voidstone/Rune Metal research.

Its easy to forget but our only real shot at reliably recreating the phenomenon lies with the only piece of the Greedy One actually left in the world

[X] Plan Set Them Up
[X] Write in: They have not killed or harmed any dwarves, and they saved the life of my apprentice. They need more time and testing, but what has been revealed so far shows they have enough reliability to not bungle using my craft too much. They hunt trolls and other dark things, which is a mark of good sense.

Given the lack of gravitas I guess Snorri really isn't an Ancestor God in the ways that matter. He's inherited the duties of his parents in full, and that means no time for being a living cultural aspect.

I say this with full respect.

Before this quest I never really thought about the significance about Snorri Whitebeard being the elder brother of Ancestor Gods, yet not having anything Ancestorly about him save perhaps how he became (maybe) Grombrindal.

[X] Plan: The Gift Giver

I wonder if the process of discovering Adamant also helped us find a way to make, for lack of a better term, "Anti-Warpstone" runes. We already have anti Daemon runes after all.

The Skaven aren't a thing now, and won't be for at least a millennia or two, but I'd rather nip that shit in the bud before it festers if you catch my drift.

To be fair it's the difference, to use discworld terms, between Diamonds and Sapphires.

wait why a action to the underway? hold will finish it themselves in two turns anyways unless we use 2 actions now?

I'm thinking metal metaphors(as a smith might) for people:
-Lead - No use, just dead weight.
-Copper - Useful in the right circumstances, but unreliable.
-Iron - Can be made into many things, but rusts without care.
-Steel - Strong, reliable, but fallible under stress.
-Gromril - Able to bear all earthly burdens, incorruptible.

Isn't any theoretical Master Rune of Grimnir unknown to Snorri? I think you mean Master Rune of Grungni.

Though, given what the Throng will be facing, wouldn't a Daemonward banner make more sense?

Edit: Ninja'd.
A belief in the potency of the matrimonial anti-aetheric combo, a desire to create something new, the desire to actually use the Oathgold, the fact that the magic is even crazier, which could well work with the Master Rune of Grungni which harnesses the magic for the shield...

I've edited in a second plan based on @BungieONI 's old advice, with the Master Rune of Valaya and Rune of Grungni instead of Master Rune of Grungni and Rune of Valaya. While I prefer the latter, Bungie made a good point about how the Master Rune of Valaya was a key point in the Daemonward combo, and we do effectively have "Troll/Greedy Troll Hearts: Yes".

Otherwise it's identical to Plan The Gift Giver
[] Plan: The Gift GiVALAYAer

I'm voting for both, plus the other two.
[X] Plan: The Gift GiVALAYAer
-[X] Helter Smelter: You're sure there's a way to more efficiently produce more Adamant, but as it is you can create at least one more smelter to increase your overall throughput. Having one work while the other recharges for instance. You can at least make one or two more before you start feeling as if you're running afoul of the Rule of Pride. [Cost: 3 actions, 1 Voidstone] Productivity Like No Other will proc. +1 Bar of Adamant every Turn instead of every other Turn. (Will count the turn it was done on) Overflow will only add progress to the next smelter and cost another Voidstone. 2 Actions
-[X] [Difficult] Dowry Pt. 2: Two cloaks and an amulet to be ready for the wedding of Prince Durabarr Stonehammer and Princess Orra Ironarm. All that needs to be done nowA multiwork project. [Cost: 3 actions] Due in 2 Turns. 1 Action
-[X] [Difficult] A Higher Standard Pt. 1: You've gazed upon the face of the Ancestors a lot in the past few years, especially when you were making your alchemical flame spitters, and it's inspired you. A banner to rally behind, something that dwarfs will look to and fight all the harder with it at their back. A banner worthy of the hold of Kraka Drakk to be held aloft with pride by an equally worthy standard bearer. [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. 1 action
-[X] Master Rune of Valaya, Rune of Grungni, Rune of Spellbreaking
-[X] [Simple] The Underway: Otrek is in less of a rush to complete this. The Holds of the North are not waylaid by enemies and are aware that with the way the weather's been, an Underway route is the only reliable way for them to stay connected. [Cost: variable normal and apprentice actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc. 2 Progress per action, 1 progress per apprentice action. 21 out of 30 Progress. 7 progress a turn regardless of input. 1 action

[X] Plan: Finish Underway, Dowry Pt. 2 and Helter Smelter

[X] Plan: The Gift Giver

If we did vote to overflow the underway project Snorri would probably layer the entire damn northern underway with defences and fall back points. It might be nice with OOC knowledge because we know how many holds fall over the years.

That's super meta though and it isn't really needed. Ensuring the underway finishes this turn, before the daemons really genuinely dig in to hit the holds means they can retreat as needed. Or so Grimnir can lead his Throng north again, coming out at the northernmost Hold and killing his way back South again.

...actually thinking on it Grimnir campaigning with how much snow is about doesn't seem the best idea. He's taller than Snorri sure but the snow is deeper than The Miner which again was taller than Grimnir.

Yeah, and that's not counting all the hundreds of thousands of other Dwarves...

It's really freaking hilarious how you just think Grimnir, not "Grimnir and the Grand Throng".

To be honest I could genuinely see Grimnir deciding to campaign without the Throng anyway. It's kind of what he did when he went North to fight for the rest of time. The fact he can't see over the snow? Doesn't phase him, he'll figure something out.

We specifically ordered the Oathgold so that we would use it for the Master Rune of Grungni.

Can we keep to the Banner configuration that actually uses that Oathgold, instead of switching to a different Master Rune and thus leaving the Oathgold we ordered to languish even longer? I want to see that Oathgold used; it's itching at me, to order a reagent and then not use it.
