I think you speak wisdom here.

There are certain the fundamental, overarching mysteries we're facing, including the final boss and how to help defuse Homura's reaction to the potentialbomb, and we know far too little despite the quest being already halfway finished. (or more than half, if you count impending timeskips) We've dallied for far too long and made little to no progress in understanding these things.

We need to make progress in these matters. Be it by asking Homura more about the last loop, asking Madoka about her dreams, seeing if Sayaka's echos are a thing and if so asking her about her dreams, psychometry on the feather, or any other route.

I'm not necessarily tied to this specific path, but if not this, then something. And right now, this is what has been proposed.
 
I mean, there has been some speculation about what was different in that timeline. And at least some of that speculation was that Homura witched out and that's why Madoka made a "fix everything" wish. (Note that Firn immediately fed this speculation by pointing out that Madoka is explicitly told by QB that she can dewitch Sayaka in canon PMMM.)

So if you say that this isn't going to be a big deal... frankly, I don't really believe you. Even if that particular theory isn't true, you're explicitly hunting for a great groundbreaking revelation that explains Homura's fractured psyche - and I'm worried about what happens if you find it.

I frankly do not want to have to deal with this right now. I'm still, in all honesty, still a bit upset and resentful about how things went down just a few weeks ago, and would like some time to chill with Homura to unwind - that does more for me then Mami fluff.

You're right, by the way - fighting out how to deal with the potentialbomb absolutely is mission critical information, and asking about the past timeline is an important part of looking into that. We are going to have to do it sooner or later. Just... not now, please?

I've been sporadically pushing to ask about the previous loop for quite a while. It's very important to learn all we can, and not only about that, but even about the days in this loop before we entered it.

But while I'm personally not on the ventrain, there's insistence that Sabrina needs to let out some stress, so I figure that should come first. Specially as both conversations will be with Homura. Let Sabrina go back to 100% before going into a conversation in which she'll need to support and offer comfort to Homu.

I doubt we can cram both conversations together in one stress-comfort-stress-comfort-stress timestop; maybe after school?
 
The failure mode for talking about the last loop is not that we forget to do it. The failure mode is that we decide that getting correct answers is less important than not bothering Homura, do a half-assed job of asking questions, miss something important, go totally off course, fail to correct in a timely manner because "we already asked her that and it stressed her out", and end up wasting a ton of critically scarce time and update space. Homura can handle this, especially because she knows how important the information is to us. We need to commit and do it right.

Changing my vote. I'm a wishy washy person torn between wanting all the fluff forever and wanting extract the all the knowledge and power out of every possible source. Right now knowing about last loop is winning out mostly because it's important and also because mom needs to explain where baby Sabrina's come from.

I'm not going to be horribly broken up if this gets postponed. That doesn't make postponing it a good idea.

I am saying it is not a big deal emotionally for us, it is absolutely a big deal for her. I am saying that this isn't some kind of supercharged debate topic for us. It's not stress for Sabrina. That is why I am arguing that it does not make sense when you use "The thread consensus so far seems to be that it'd be better to cool off a bit before going right back into the heavy topics." as an argument against this: because "it'd be better [for us] to cool off a bit [first]" is stating that "going right back into the heavy topics" is overly burdensome on us... But this is a heavy topic for Homura, not for us, and so saying we should avoid it until we've cooled off makes zero sense as an argument.
 
Thought... I believe some of the idea with the venting is extending some ... trust to Homura. I mean Homura goes out on a lot of metaphorical limbs for us since she trusts us. Sabrina in turn talking to (at) Homura about her own personal issues shows a level of trust.

Perhaps we can work out a way to have asking about the loop can occur later in the day to perhaps build off any gains we make with Homura from this extension of trust?

Unless this is one of those situations where I forget that thats only like 3 hours waiting and thus a little compressed for time.

At the time we kind of laughed it off because we thought she'd foreseen the canon potentialbomb despair, but if new and spookier shit is afoot, then I'd like to have some warning from Oriko first before we accidentally jab another of Homura's buttons...

That's an idea. Something else ee should worry about, Firn doesn't let us Brinapilot conversations with Homu.

We need to think how to approach this carefully. IIRC, last time we asked about the previous loop (about Madoka's Wish?) the conversation didn't last long.

Also IIRC, Homu or Sabrina described the 'previous' loop in broad strokes in order to confirm they were talking about the same thing at some point. We'd really need to go over it in detail in order to catch inconsistencies.

Perhaps the first thing to ask would be the exact context of Madoka's Wish, though that would also quite certainly be the most traumatizing thing to ask. :/

Perhaps start with key moments, like Madoka throwing Sayaka's Soul off the bridge, which lichbombed the group, and lead into the Witchbomb?

Something worth emphasis from the Firngazen post you quoted here, that hasn't gotten emphasis yet.... the Potential!Bomb is stated to be doubly effective if dropped by Kyubey at a key moment (as opposed to Sabrina triggering it, accidentally or not?). So there is some non-zero value to venting that risk by making sure the conversation occurs on our terms.

On the other side as Kyubey's Advocate, any act that stresses Homura arguably stresses Sabrina. We worry immensely about her stability after all (plus the worries of any friend).

On the fluffy tails side of things, Sabrina just had a very cute and touching series of scenes with Mami that reaffirmed her stability the past few hours, and this conversation would seemingly happen /before/ the Mama-Daughter shopping trip that appeared to be a carefree stress relief for both Sabrina and Homura. Assuming she doesn't cancel afterwards, isn't this arguably the best time for a stressful downer topic??
