When the bloody--
*drops head into hands*
Do I need to go back and start trotting out every--
Gott in
himmel.
Hmm. Care to clarify that? The thread consensus so far seems to be that it'd be better to cool off a bit before going right back into the heavy topics, but it's valuable to hear other opinions.
I cannot agree with that on the topic of asking about last loop.
For starters, it's not going to be heavy for
us, it's going to be heavy for
her. So, that entire argument is a nonstarter on our end.
Her day yesterday consisted of putting down a hostile she had no connection to whatsoever and attending a club. As far as Homura is ever going to be "okay," she's okay for this right now.
Lastly, let me just trot this out for everyone to read and remember.
OK, so...
You know, I'm not that fussy.
Second, because I apparently have to be explicit about it: Yes, it's a warning. Things Will Happen if Homura learns that she is causing Madoka's potential to increase. Doubly so if Kyuubey finds the right time to strike, granted. It will not bad end the Quest, not just yet, but Things Will Happen. I've scattered hints and foreshadowing as to what those things are already, and as far as I can tell, no one's guessed it yet.
If you still want to do it, I can work with that, because I have contingencies for everything. Hell, in some ways, it'd be fun for me.
But be aware that it'd be a massive shift in the status quo.
*spreads arms wide open*
As I like to point out, Firnagzen has said that finding the things hidden in the quest is The Way To Succeed At The Quest.
The question is:
what is this?
You can make whatever conjectures you want about how the potentialbomb affects Homura in canon, and yet, we essentially have QM's word that whatever manner it affects Homura in here in PMAS is at least so unobvious that, minimum, nobody had figured it out in mid-2017, and given how little theorizing has been done about it since I expect it remains unknown. That means it affects Homura differently from in canon, because that'd be
the most obvious possibility, a bloody
null hypothesis, the thing we were running on when we decided to potentialbomb Homura right up until Firn told us not to do it.
WHY?
There is a whole set of
giant bloody neon lights here saying "FIGURE THIS OUT." Whatever this is, it's somehow central to the quest in a way nobody here even
fathoms as of yet. Oriko once told us that as long as we and Homura are OK by WPN we haven't lost. Homura is at the center of the plot, and whatever this is, it's somehow a key difference between PMAS!Homura and canon!Homura. And the only difference we know of between PMAS!Homura and canon!Homura thus far is last loop, so... that's where we're going to have to start looking, as far as anyone I know has suggested.
I'm sorry if people have taken this as anything other than a
QUEST IMPERATIVE -- MUST TAKE THIS ACTION sort of thing. I know the votes I've been making lately have focused on other things, and I know that people are a little leery of the Big Stuff at the moment or whatever, but... This is
actually mission critical. I honestly didn't want to wait as long as we
have before asking these questions. I promise that it won't read like some horrible thing. There'll be lots of comforting Homura and some nice hurt/comfort vibes and then we'll go monkeyloot some tanks.
But... this
needs to happen. And something I'm afraid of is, because it's quite hard to understand at a glance why "ask Homura about the events of last loop" is at all related to a
QUEST IMPERATIVE -- MUST TAKE THIS ACTION, I do worry that it will keep getting postponed. It's
already somehow managed to get postponed for, uh...
FOUR ENTIRE IN-CHARACTER DAYS, as a
QUEST IMPERATIVE.
TL;DR
I will understand it if people suggest that we could do it later in the day and state that they would prefer to do this other stuff now.
I will understand it -- but I cannot
agree with it, because postponing this further is...
It's a bad idea on the level of a
Bad Damn Idea.
...
*rubs face*
I'm doing a shitty job of actually explaining things again while throwing around lots of emphases and exclamations, aren't I. Lemme go shower and I'll try again.
...
and Vebyast, I know you're gonna come in here and read this, okay? This is your reminder not to get too drastically upset about it. I love you. You're great. But the proper manner of addressing this is to clearly and convincingly explain our position: we are right, and if we say the correct words everything will go just fine.
