To be fair, we may find that charging a spirit bomb while in super saiyan is impossible; Goku is NOT calm. Note that Kakara did it in base form, with her super-saiyan power off with the multiform that had gone Golden Oozaru to fight Dazarel directly.

I don't think it would take longer than the power up, and we could always abort it if he attacks us.
