I'm voting to answer, try to find out Riona's reasons, and try to reach a compromise. With a contingence in case Riona seems to take it badly, so we can descalate.

And that after everything you've tried Riona still isn't willing to release her Shades under any condition.
--[X] Ask for suggestions on what to do. You don't want to kill Riona or degem her and put on a freezer: you'd want to have her cooperate but she just isn't interested and if Riona just walks away any other suffering she causes would be partly your fault too.



Because kill/freeze Riona isn't something Sabrina would do just like that; it has to be a group agreement.

I think its because Rionna stated Sabrina was stalling after one of your votes and your current vote is similar in tone and layout.

Sorta what DB_Explorer said - you're vote starts with digging at reasons and getting drinks and talking secondary topics. Starting the 'lets make a deal' section, as it were might be better. Maybe.

As it stands, I think we might have to recognize that our relationship with her, at first, is going to be one of an entirely business and slightly unpleasant nature. We need her for soul-poking, and we can pay in gem cleansing. If that isn't enough for her - if she's really after our Soul Gem - then she's functionally hostile and should be treated as such.

So. Firnagzen has said that Brinapilot is gonna be kicking in with extra strength for this next bit. As such, I think I'm going to try for a more broad strokes take on @Vebyast 's vote, with a few ideas from @Onmur that I think are worthwhile interspersed.

[x] Internally, mentally:
-[x] Calm down. Channel some of that "excellent actress" Kyuubey accused you of being to not show Rionna your internal strife.
-[x] It's possible that Rionna is being difficult because she doesn't want to give up her sisters shade, but doesn't want you to know about it.
-[x] Note that, if she is holding her sister's shade, she's likely denying the ethical implications of her actions out of self-defense.

[x] Externally, to Rionna.
-[x] Address her "giving up what I have" line. You don't want to take things away. What you want is to provide her - and everyone - with what they need so that more humane approaches can spread.
--[x] Would she really keep those souls trapped if, in her own opinion, it became unnecessary?
-[x] You want Rionna to stop killing people. There's other ways to stop those that abuse magic. And you'd like to examine her shades, and see if they're suffering.

It 'starts' with direction for Brinapilot. I tried to make it clear those were directions for how Sabrina should act.

Brinapilot: Don't snap, calm down; try to find Riona's reasons for her actions and the reasons for those reasons; if you're losing Riona with the direct approach, direct the conversation elsewhere of worth until you can get back into it.

Then I clarified we should keep going, not stop, while trying to get drinks. I didn't think that needed clarification, but I ended up clarifying it. Mind, that's likely not an important part of the vote.

I don't have time right now, but I'd like to find a way to find the why of Riona's actions, and I don't want to get caught in having and following one hypothesis before we can find more.

Have we asked Riona why she won't tell us, and then why to that?
 
@Redshirt Army What's your angle on going more specific with this part? Whether it be by somehow bribing her into bringing us along on her hunts to give her targets better offers/a chance to repent or offering our freezer and contacts with Fukushima to her? We'd probably need to go along on the hunts anyways or she'd need to call us in, simply to transport them to Mitakihara though.

Insofar as Rionna actually cares about stopping false grief controllers on moral grounds, I think that saying "stop killing people, we can stop abuse in other ways" comes off as less naive then just putting all of the blame on Rionna, as "stop killing people" by itself does.

Moreover, even if Rionna doesn't care... I kind of do. I certainly don't endorse Rionna's methods, but I don't think we should leave things alone the next time some grief controller forcibly witches forty people out.

Perhaps it won't, but it costs us nothing to remain coherent and collected. Besides, acting calm is one of the better ways to actually become calm, in a crisis.

I'm not sure where you're getting the notion I'm proposing putting all the blame on Rionna here.

I agree with you that some portion(Hopefully an overwhelming majority) of her victims seem like people we need to give the join or die/get frozen/jailed/etc speech to though.

The problem is getting her to agree to such a thing. Not just because we'd need her to trust us, or to rely on something other than her own power, but also because she lives all the way over there at Edinburgh and we live all the way over here at Japan.

Even if we could be anywhere in the world in two hours, we do need to stay in Mitakihara, probably more the closer we get to Walpurgisnacht.

Can we really go with Riona whenever she goes on a one woman crusade to stop an evil Grief controller? Or can we somehow get her to agree to capture, rather than kill, and bring Them to us?

I have no problem with shameless bribery to get her to agree to something like working with us. Clear seed upon completion of first successful joint hunt or something.

Riona would need access to a human habitable pocket dimension she can keep prisoners in, considering she's still constrained by modern air travel. She'd also need to be able to keep them cleansed. I'm thinking getting her to bring her prisoners to us without us providing assistance is a nonstarter here. Also part of the point of hunting with her is to get her to open up to us about what her real problem is.

I have in fact experienced the "keep insisting" approach.
And yes, it worked pretty well on me -- I was too polite to say "no, go away", and eventually the person who did it got what they wanted.
Also, I really resented being treated like that, and I refused to ever talk to that person again.

I don't think the "keep insisting" approach will work on Riona.
I don't think "too polite to tell people to go away" is one of her flaws.

[X] Do you recognize this feather? Is the attacker from Edinburgh?

Here's what I'm thinking: the timing of Riona's visit is suspicious. I think she's connected to Feathers.
Either she's Feathers's ally, or she's its keeper (ie, Feathers is her sister or something like that).

Here are some guesses at how this might go:

If Riona is going to ally with us against Feathers, then showing her the feather will give us common ground, and we can work on the no-nonconsensual-shades thing as allies rather than potential-enemies.

On the other hand, if Riona is Feathers, or if she's going to ally with it, then let's find that out now so we can move to combat.

Honestly? Despite our broken power and achievement i don't felt overpowered at all from Sabrina. Her progress seems too slow and takes more effort than what actually required.

I'm quite alienated by fixing everything because i don't think we are strong enough.

You know Rihaku's Even Further Beyond quest? You know how Firn's mentioned in the past this quest is supposed to be about people?

We are basically the Heroine antagonist from Even Further Beyond, due to having a Madoka tier potential 'fix everything' wish fudging fate in our favor. Odds are we don't need godlike power unless something went terribly wrong here.

So we network, try to find as many power combinations as possible so we can reach the holy grail that is replicating our power, whether it be cleansing infrastructure that doesn't need our intervention, making our power consume other peoples powers and replace it with itself, etc. That's basically a prereq for a Good End as I see things(Making ourselves obsolete/no longer necessary). (Edit: Not sure if waxing edgelord or not here) Even dewitching, if it depends on our power, is in the long run meaningless(Edit2: I just realized there's always finding a way to become an immortal/invincible goddess capable of challenging the incubators directly. If we managed that dewitching being dependent on us forever is probably fine. Barring that though... yeah).
