But everything except "Yuma can tell you" is past tense? To me she just read as telling a structured joke story.Yuma's wording suggests that it's happening at the same time of the telepathic conversation.
Also, the hope is that, since they (almost) don't feel witchy, we can make a few useful enchantments and actually keep them around for a long time, if not permanently.Using Grief to enhance our enchanting results in enchantments that are sort of a mix of magic and grief. They don't scream Witch to other meguca, but they fall apart outside our range.
You exhale slowly, holding the rock on the flat of your palm. You know what you want -pain blocking- so you simply pour magic from the palm, letting your intention and the bracelet guide the formation. Grief wicks into the winding traceries of magic, giving the enchantment a speckled appearance to your mind's eye.
Everything already happened, so it's in the past. Why shouldn't Yuma be using past tense?
What he's saying is that the whole story took place before we called her. She's not giving us a play-by-play in real time.Everything already happened, so it's in the past. Why shouldn't Yuma be using past tense?
"And for other magical girls..." she says. "It takes a while for you to form your Grief constructs, so you have time to warn your allies. And, um, unless you make pure enchantments, they'd be noticeable anyway. The only scenarios in which having an arsenal of enchantments might be useful is in an extreme emergency, or maybe if you're trying to conceal the full extent of what you can do?"
Since enchantment duration is proportional to magic spent, I suspect that the cleansing cost becomes prohibitive. That's not an issue for us.It's possible that maintenance times quickly become prohibitive?
He seems to be writing Sayaka just fine.Though mostly, the real problem I would expect with having tons of new magic items would be that Firn would need to remember all of it while writing.
I guess my greatest hope is that we can make some sort of defensive enchantment against mind/soul magic, something to make up for Sabrina's comparatively low reflexes when compared to melee based and experienced meguca, and if possible, something so we don't have to take the time to make the Privacy Field every time we need it.
Once a day, for a while. My theory is that if we have a shot at a better relationship, we may need to prove our honesty. Go back to our conversations with Hijiri, and make a meaning of it. My result says that one goal is to show we feel her loss, that she is significant. Not looking away from her - is that the way to do it? I don't want her to hate us - but I feel we must not let her fall to become a monster. It isn't likely a trade-off, and ignoring her sounds risky to me. Let's put in some effort.Wait until next week, at least. Unless you want to start making quick chats with her every day (riskier? may work? don't know to social this).
The quality and price of the food offering goes up if we change the plan, though ; )I think we did say we'd go with Sayaka next time... though I guess we can go whenever.
At least for contrast. Her reality is a bit different, and her goals are still within the Masquerade. Let us gain her wisdom!Maybe we could ask Mika for help when it comes to revealing magic to the meguca/Potential parents (and uncles), too?
I don't want us to say this. My preference is to understand, first.About the Shiogama girls, I meant to comment, but forgot: Once they have a Clear Seed, they could, if they wanted, go back to Shiogama. They don't need to be in Mitakihara for cleansing.
Makes sense... we could probably ask Umika to work on some more permanent mind protections, but the only person that would most likely be able to help with soul defenses is Riona, and I kind of want such defenses before meeting Riona, in case of Riona.Hmm. I think we'd be better off asking a dedicated mind/memory guca to make us a defensive enchantment for that - we know several, and things they make will likely be of higher quality then something we make ourselves.
We tested a melee skill booster earlier and it worked, and with our ability to use grief for impulse having better reflexes in general is extremely likely to be useful - among other things, it means we can fly faster in combat. An "inertial dampener" would have a similar level of utility. I fully support making both.
For the privacy field... frankly, we already have a solution for rapid deployment of that, and it's one that obviates a lot of other enchantments we might need, too - we can just get better at enchanting grief to use for snapcasting.
Mental defenses and boosted reflexes are both things that we really don't want to spend even a few non-trance seconds making in the situation we're ambushed, but the privacy field doesn't need to be constantly ready to deploy.
[X] Show them a map of the city. Narrate as we do. Mention the possibility of double dating touring with them a bit.
As we are not Batman, I think Mami is trying to keep us from hitting a complexity snag. Not only is her level at Enchantment really high, her public image is built around her performance in duels. She didn't loose. If she tells us to keep it simple, we might want to start by doing that. Mages in other continuities take serious time to develop a loadout. IRL warriors do not swap weapons randomly. Mami has good things on her mind.We just discussed the idea of enchantments with Mami, and she kind of gently disagreed with the idea of making use of a huge array of them as equipment - especially if they're grief-laced.
I don't particularly want to contradict Mami on this, especially since she's one of the leading global authorities on enchantment anyway. The way she described it, enchantments are stuff you prepare a week or so in advance, meant to last a day or so at most - not permanent effects. It's possible that maintenance times quickly become prohibitive?
Nadia's power's conceptual usage as "keep going" might be what lets her get away with having a more permanent "equipment" usage of enchantments. I think we'd be better off trying apply our "control" enchantment to an anchor after tuning it to grief (which, to be frank, should really be one of our enchantment subthemes).
Sounds fine, like a thing that was put in scp 914 and processed through the fine setting.
Very fine challenge: 150 words.
[X] Practice with enchanted grief. Test to see if grief can create certain effects, for possible reproduction as enchantments:
-[X] Soul Gem connection range booster.
-[X] Mind/Soul protection.
-[X] Reflex/Thought speed booster.
-[X] "Inertial dampener" - counteract negative effects of extreme acceleration.
Anything that'd let us go exponential with enchanted grief griefhax
While that would be nice, I don't foresee us being able to obtain one before tomorrow.Hmm. I think we'd be better off asking a dedicated mind/memory guca to make us a defensive enchantment for that - we know several, and things they make will likely be of higher quality then something we make ourselves.
Do we have a full Seed to use to make one?
Mami does. While that would be nice, I don't foresee us being able to obtain one before tomorrow.
