I just had a thought:
Since OP names the chapters after the chapters in the Half-life series of games, should we try to anticipate what might happen in this chapter based on the title?

For reference, "Point Insertion" is the first chapter of Half-life 2, when Gordon Freeman is dropped into City 17 by the G-Man as the "right man in the wrong place." He is introduced to Barney Calhoun, is gated by the trash can CP, gets chased by Civil Protection for "miscount," and meets Alyx Vance.

Is there anything else significant that happens?

- Speak with Kyuubey about how to find the past of witches (aliases of Aurora and Kato Setsuko's witches)
- Look into the fate of Tsuchiya Ritsuko
After consultation the first two lines appear to be inanity. If anyone would like to speak up and defend them, please start by explaining the full reasoning for them.

As for the third line, I don't think we discussed WPN with those two previously, so I am prepared to pursue that today IC unless I'm wrong about that.

As of last post we were intending to visit O&K. There is some thought about whether they are awake or not at present time. We also have downtime and need to make progress on our dewitching experiments. I don't see that there is anything else urgent going on, currently, so:

I am the one who added that stuff to the day planner.

IIIRC, At the time, we were having discussion of how to dewitch. The thing on folks' minds was the possibility that dewitching might require a soulhug from someone who knew the witch.

The general thought was that, since magic channeling into another person, aka soulhugs, calls up memories, emotions from people's pasts, with some relationship context, that might help provide an anchor for the witch. Or rather, for the awakened clear seed. And since it's magic, rather than speech, it might A: bypass the whole human-to-witch communication issue, and B: Help channel magic deep into the seed to possibly start refilling it.

As far as Shizuki Haruka's old friend goes, the idea was that as long as we were doing the true name thing, she might as well be included.

Also, now that I'm reading the vote I have a point to make, namely:

[X] Poke Kirika over telepathy.
-[X] If she's asleep, let her go back to sleep and proceed to (B).
[X] (A) Go to O&K's house. Explain details of yesterday's talk, your reasonings, progress and setbacks, reasonable expectations.
-[X] Ask what they think.
-[X] Ask to talk alone with Kirika.
--[X] Privacy sphere
--[X] Ask Kirika if she's found Hisaomi's diary yet. If she hasn't, point her at it. If she decides Oriko shouldn't see it then she needs to hammerspace it -- show her 4d trick.
--[X] Be supportive.
-[X] Do not execute (B).
[X] (B) You need to test pushing magic into a clear seed, but your two clear seeds are currently experiments in progress. Hunt a witch, clear the seed, try pushing magic into it.
-[X] Execute (A) if nothing interesting happens.

Looking up what time Oriko and Kirika usually wake up, I think this is a little early for contacting them.

We had at least two updates of science between taking Mami to school and waking up Kyouko at nine on the day we first went to Asunaro. Oriko and Kirika wake up even later.

You click your tongue, looking around. No one's come out to greet you, but you can feel Oriko and Kirika upstairs. They're asleep, at a guess. You squint at your phone. It's only nine thirty.

From Anomalous Materials, pt8. Before that time, we had a conversation with Kyuubey, another introduction us with Nadia over telepathy, and successfully hunted a witch.

Clear seed research:

Why aren't we testing it on Aurora? This kinda of experimentation is exactly what we got her back for. To run tests on an awakened witch.

That said, I have no objections whatsoever to hunting a witch. I don't think it's strictly necessary... but it is a good idea. We've been slacking.

Not only is it too early to call Kirika, but she won't have found Hisaomi's diary because we haven't told her about it yet.

[x] Telepathy to Hitomi. We had something that we wanted to talk to her mom about. What's a good time and method to get in touch?
-[x] If "now" is good, contact Mrs. Shizuki. Arrange to meet. Upon meeting, discuss:
--[x] Potential ways to use magic to provide a source of income.
--[x] Whether she knows a trustworthy psychiatrist who could help some of the more troubled magical girls that we've met.
[X] Enchant a supply of grief for future use as needed.
[x] Test putting mundane objects into 4D space and back again. Observe effects.
-[x] If safe, use 4D space to store items that we keep secret and store in our grief cloud currently.

I'm reluctant to try dewitching before we've recruited the meguca that we think will be most helpful for it.

In canon, Kirika was able to find the diary on her own.

We've already got a meeting scheduled with Mrs. Shizuki in the weekend, I believe.

Fair point. It may be wise to stall our dewitching efforts until we've got Rionna here, so we don't accidentally fuck up somebody's soul.

[X] What do you do now?
- [X] Go and experiment
--[X]See how far you Chibis can move in 4D space
--[X] See if they can move your Soul Gem in 4D space
--[X] Test which is larger, the number of Chibis you can simultaneously control, or the number of Chibis you can fit in your range.
--[X] See if your Chibis can make other Chibis.
--[X] See if you can make your Chibis into other people.
--[X] See how tiny you can make a Chibi that you can control
-[X] Give a randomly selected person asalient compliment (I'll roll for this)

[X] (B) With Nadia's help, check in on Rionna Mag Aiodh.
-[X] If for whatever reason Nadia/Rionna refuse (or are sleeping), proceed to (C).
-[X] Politely welcome her to the Mitakhara are; you're happy to have her here.
--[X] Otherwise, be your usual self.
-[X] Do not execute (A) or (C).

We definitely need to do this but I think it will hold until after O&K? Mmmmm. When is Rionna scheduled to show, again?

Yeah, we know she's coming Soon, but we don't have an exact time. That's part of why I want us to contact her now, so we can narrow that down.

Someone should think more on how to improve the Riona bit, instead of just dismissing it outright. I don't know how meta-hint Firn gets with proto-votes, but the fact that she's started showing up has me wanting to make at least some attempt at contact. I don't know that volunteering precog/not-current-precog is the best option, but can't think of another good way myself to show how we know she's enroute.

Is it possible to rephrase it as more wanting her expertise and contacting generally, as if to arrange a meeting, and oh hey how conveinent? Ooor do we actually want to bring up Oriko anyways, since that klein-bottle thing seems exactly the sort of thing to ask Soulguca about and figuring out how to thread the needle on "Keep Oriko's powers, don't encourage bad desires" seems a needful thing.

Is there a reason why gentle tele-poke "hey are you awake yet?" with conditionals to jump to two other projects isn't good enough? We've seen that Brina-pilot is capable of handling that sort of thing anyways, with her+Mami deciding to postpone Asunaro-wakeup due to truant sleepyheads (should we schedule a later-day Asunaro+Kure+Kyoyuma good morning? :p )

Trying to contact Rionna isn't a bad idea, I just think it's too early in the morning to be nagging a total stranger.

It's worth noting the time difference: Japan is at UTC+9, while Riona is, presumably, still in Edinburgh. As things stand this should put her time at sometime around 10-11 PM right now. (I forget when exactly we wake up and go to school. A very quick and dirty check has me presuming it's around seven or eight, but I'm a bit out of it and memory could easily have failed me.)

Is she still in Edinburgh? If we're expecting her to arrive soon, then doesn't that imply that she's already en route?

I'm assuming she's at the very least en route already. Scotland to Japan is a long flight, and I'm near certain that using regular plane travel is cheaper then hiring a trans-continental teleporter, if one even exists.
