... We are now fused with Not!Russia, with the population base it entails + the mercenary armies of well-equipped troops we have. Not!HRE is highly damaged by the internal fighting, likely there will be local support since our philosophies turned the idea into a powderkeg in the first place.

If not via the sea, can we not at least crash into Not!HRE like a fist of a god while they need to stay divided to fight both us and Not!France?

Anyone with strategic understanding, can you verify if the possibility I laid out could happen?

Hmmmm... looking at end of century Russian census we get a number of roughly 150 million people. That's decades in the future, your eastern holdings are more significant, but you also have the super developed Ymaryn core and all of the Not!Black Sea, better hygiene, and go to war for fewer stupid reasons. So somewhere in the ballpark of 100 +/- 20 million sounds about right, but if someone has a better understanding of early 19th century demographics let me know.

This is a super scary Russia.

Fighting Germany is a good way to get them united. Better to get them on their good sides.

We'd need to support the Alliance I think, since we don't really have a CB otherwise.

That'd be like 10% of the total world population iirc.

Unless the changes to this timeline means that that the world population is over 1 billion already.

@Academia Nut
If supporting the republicans gets the most votes but another option wins because of the multipliers, does this mean there will be a significant amount of support for the republicans among our population?

Also, how are the Black Sheep currently doing? Same as the last time we heard about them?

Yes, there will be considerable internal support, but the king and nobility aren't interested.

Hmmm... that's a bit higher than I like. We'll go with 75 million overall, as looking at overall population growth that gives roughly the right numbers (doubling time was 1800 to 1927), assuming a higher initial population. I can be convinced to knock it down even further if this still seems too high. The Hung definitely have the most people under them, and looking up Chinese demographic history, they should have roughly 300 million people at this point in time, so these numbers don't seem too screwy.

Damn, quick look at some of the other population numbers at this time says that we're bigger than most, with the one notable exception being China, which somehow had 300 million people by 1800.

Out of a total of 1 billion.

Damn.

Most of russian territory is still a mess, badly administered, lacking infrastructure and overseen by local boyars with fragile ties to the central government.
We have huge challenges here, leading a war and adding people of different culture with their own problems will probably not benefit us.

Uh... if I've understood correctly, UPM is Not!USA, correct?

Is their navy still ludicrously small and that is why they can't intervene? Because if not, can they not help keep the colonies of Hspranxer connected with their homeland?

Not to mention eastward expansion is far more profitable in terms of raw resources, while avoiding a lot of the costs that westward expansion would require.

There is another factor to consider. No matter who wins that war, they will be devastated in terms of population and economy. They will have to radically embrace new ideas. Like using labour saving devices.

The flipside is that we have the know how and capital to actually go into that in a big way.

Black Soil is another important factor as I calced out using 'just' old Ymaryn without Harmurrhi, which was, I think, in the 100 million range. Even with less Black Soil used due to Blackpowder demand, we have a lot of advantages. So I'd err on the upper end of that estimate.

But good god, that's a scary number at that time. Once medical tech takes off, we should hit a billion people fairly quickly.

I also understand our generals confidence. Even if they turn out to be wrong about keeping up with other armies, we can still afford to throw bodies at the problem. And unlike with Mongols, we can learn the new tactics as we have the tech needed for it on hand.

OTL America was pretty ready to aid the french... and then they went full bloody revolution, and started killing off all the nobility, which freaked the fuck out of the americans.

The American Revolution had the support of its own version of nobility, so they very much did not want to set the precedent of dragging landholders out into the streets and butchering them whenever a revolution started.

Plus they were pretty shrimpy compared to the British and other european powers, and so didn't have much to offer.

It looks like there a number of balance hot fixes needed now that fundamental changes have been made, and the dev team probably couldn't see everything that needed to be adjusted until lots of people started actually playing it.

I actually bought it already, but did not have time to play this weekend, will probably start up a new game next friday or so.
But the beginning looked stable, at least.
