So wait, does whatever spookery the Ki does actually check that you're not ITing outside of multiform's range? Or does it IT to the max range and then pop?

And anyway, I'm pretty sure Kakara could survive as near to the sun as she could get with multiform.
IIRC, trying results in the Multiform to pop without going anywhere due to the space fuckery going on.

Everybody is assuming that he feeds on ki, but Kakara had already powered up to max and fired a ki blast at him, powering up isn't the only thing Kakara did at that moment of the conversation, and he seems pretty contemptuous of ki. He also didn't say ki. He said nerve. The ki signature may just be his way of tasting what he really wants. Saiyans historically weren't exactly distinctive for their power so much as their belligerence as a constitutionally warlike species. Given his psychic and malevolent nature, perhaps he feeds on something else? Emotions?
Ki has a spiritual component in it, so the two aren't mutually exclusive.
It eats everything. Ki, PSI, Magic and Souls, all absorbed through a draining aura and/or touch. Energy that is sufficiently spiritually pure is poisonous, however. *coughSpiritBombcough*

So let's get close and Destructo disc parts of him off, and teleport the random bits to Dandeer's living room.

In case they remain dangerous.

bah! if it's energy it eats, then let us shoot it with bullets at sufficient velocity!
MORE DAKKA!
:D

What could go wrong?

[X] Ranged. Your skill with ki refinement is still limited, and you'll only be able to keep it up when blasting. You'll contribute best this way.
-[X] Do your best to support the fighters on the ground. Knock the dragon about and impede his mobility; use your blasts to limit his options and give Dad and Yammar openings.

He does specify Ki.

I have longed for centuries to taste the ki of your kind.

I might be misunderstanding you though; I'm several days worth of tired.

I want to throw myself against the idea that the dragon has any kind of seer countering ability outside of being able to read the minds of seers. That we've seen. And obviously pro the idea that the mind reading allowed the Dragon to subvert the vision. Kakara wouldn't necessarily know this, but she's a smart cookie and I believe she could figure it out.

Vague thoughts:
I wonder what effect a tied vote for two believably viable but opposing options would have on the Dragon's ability to predict us accurately in combat.

We were forewarned and we are forearmed, though probably not as much as we'd like on either count. As much as the vision of four GO was concerning, we have had some time to prepare with that in mind and that could be all we need for things to change.
Playing to our strengths while we're fresh and able is probably going to be a more reliable plan than moving out of position and trying desperate gambles.

Fighting four strong and capable opponents and having to read the minds of each of them should still carry some drawbacks for the Dragon. Team fighting is probably our greatest strength here as a group, if we can utilise it well.

Desperate gambles can wait until we have more information about strengths, weaknesses and abilities.

We need to be aware that anything we think (or post) about may be used against us and the Dragon may attempt to bluff us out of trying good ideas. It sounds like they've been at this a long time.

I think the Dragon keeps mentioning the telepathic humanoid-fish race (edit: Kanassans). Is that important for some reason I haven't grasped? Or does it hint at the dragon's strengths / weaknesses? Origins?

Again:

Kakara + Grandma = fusion double kikoho fueled by Great Ape durability and simultaneously pumped by both Tabe's and Jaffur's trick. Berra + Yammar = fusion big bang kamehameha powered by two Kaio-Ken pumped Golden Great Apes.

@PoptartProdigy :

Was there ever any plausible chance of negotiations succeeding? Could we have critted a Communications check and talked the dragon into leaving us alone? Or would that be about as plausible as a steak dinner talking someone into not eating it?

Yeah, he parried our blast rather than absorbing it- "muscled it aside."

Honestly, our close-range skills are our weakest area imo

most of our strength lies in Ki manipulation
Let's look this over.

This is a Team Fighting scenario for hand to hand purposes, which means our overarching and specialist skills are Talented/Talented. No special Style bonuses really apply, as I understand how Tenshinhan Style works.

For ranged purposes, our base Ki Manipulation skill is Exceptional, but our individual attack skills are... uninspired. We have the Kamehameha at Talented, but as I understand it our Tenshinhan Style bonuses don't apply if we use it. We have the Dodonpa and Kikoho at Unlearned, two steps down from there.

So our choices are to fight as:

1) Talented/Talented melee combatant (possibly with minor Style bonuses, possibly not)...
2) Exceptional/Talented ranged combatant (no style bonus, Kamehameha)
3) Exceptional/Unlearned ranged combatant (style bonuses in full force, for whatever they're worth at Novice)

All in all, there's not THAT much in it between choices (1) and (2), and (3) isn't really looking all that great unless for some reason we need to dial up to maximum blast power for a Kikoho.

Our really big advantages are ki skills, which can be very helpful ancillary, but work pretty well at all ranges, no?

There is no way we're getting Berra and Yammar cheek by jowl for anything. We'd have better luck getting Apra, Berra, and Kakara to fire off a Grandma-Father-Daughter Kamehameha

Just a heads-up, folks, I won't be able to update this one until at least Tuesday, and possibly later than that. Other quest is due an update first, and I'm at the in-laws all weekend after that.

You had a chance at convincing it that you weren't worth the bother.

The roll for that did not go well.

The dragon does seem very aggressive for a predator. I mean we find it scary, but I don't think that I would want to pick a fight if U were in it's scales either. 4 vs 1 when each of the 4 have a higher power level then you seems like not great odds even if you do have PSI.

It's almost like we don't fully understand the scope of its abilities yet.

I mean, we're dealing with an opponent we're about 2/3 stronger than. A noticeable distance, but not the biggest. Yes, there are 4 of us, but any one power is only that large.
But this is an opponent who outsizes us to a ridiculous margin; it's head is about the same size as one of us as a Golden Oozaru. Given the chance it could probably pin one of us under each claw and go to town.
As a Dragon I'd wager it's tougher than its PL might suggest, and stronger, physically, too.

As for Psychic power, well. Let's not assume we've seen the width and breadth of that well of strength yet, either.

He did casually shrug off a max-power blast from Kakara and throw out eight equally powerful (if poorly aimed) blasts in response despite only being at ~900 million. Perhaps he has a Broly-style immunity to ki blasts below a certain power and/or an ability/need to channel a multiple of what hits him.

Going by both the vision and what we've seen here, a physical approach is probably best.

Where are those mobs of supporting combatants? Where are the Kaiju-busters? Every single Kaio-Ken Oozaru is as powerful as this 900 million dragon. We should be swarming him with hundreds of apes as powerful as he is and tens of thousands of lesser saiyans while the golden apes anchor the whole thing. What's the point of investing in Tactical Genius if you don't use it?

I mostly agree, but would advocate some caution before calling in the troops. Aim to get the measure of the opponent a bit more beforehand, else this could simply result in the rapid loss of all non SSJ warriors.

Something I didn't think about before -- but probably has already come up --regarding this topic: Is there political difficulty in calling for the aid of non SSJ warriors like this being seen as weak? Particularly on the Vegetan side.
