Gold wizards have a spell that lets them spy on crafting process of things.
Dwarves don't know about it.
And if they ever learn, we can probably kiss goodbye on any dwarven made goods being traded with the empire, at least.
Oh dear. Yes that would kill trade like no ones business.

And they would probably start asking for runic weapons given to humans of the empire.

Context? My lore is weak.
What other people have said to you already, but here's the QM citations.
Mathilde is doing her best to keep the Dwarves from finding out Johann can peep on their most sacred secrets at a touch.
It could lead to Dwarves ending all trade with humanity. Guild secrets are that big a deal to them. Keep that sealed short of Nagash or a new Everchosen.
So there shall be no attempts of stealing dwarven secrets, and anyone we find trying gets carted back to altdorf if incredibly lucky, or possibly just dead.
I think you have that backwards. Merciful would be killing them on the spot. Unlucky would be shipping them back to Altdorf to explain to their Magister Patriarch, the Supreme Patriarch, the Grand Theogonist, and the Emperor himself how they fucked up so badly as to end all trade with the Empire's oldest ally.

Well i was thinking of us finding about it before dwarves did.
Dwarves find out about it i assume they'll just kill em.
And then it everything goes to crap.

Yep. I'm okay with natural-cause-ing any Gold Wizard that we don't trust and catch casting that spell on something Dwarf-made. If we do trust them then maybe we let them explain themselves first.

This is the kind of thing that will definitely be made clear immediately, like Mathilde did with the Ducklings:

"Mind your step. Dwarves are generous to their friends but brutal to thieves, and if you get caught trying to take what they don't want to give, I won't do a damn thing to save you and the Bright Order will apologize to me for my trouble. Clear?"

I'm sure the Golds in particular are given all of the warnings about risking that particular spell around dwarves. The Gold college has managed to keep it secret for this long, so clearly they have effective measures in place.

To be honest so long as we do not get AP locked I am more or less fine with any of the major plans at this point. I am not even going to try to interpret what boni we might get from this or that plan, that would be way too much nitpicking and that just leaves the matter of the themes and collaboration or craft are both fine by me. Still leaning slightly craft just because of concerns over trying to push too much on the dwarfs in terms of collaboration but this is not enough to get me arguing one way or another. There is a bit too much unknown unknown for me to be comfortable with that.

Would that spell work on Mathilde's Golden arm of unknown origin?

Its way better if Johann casts it first before grafting the unknown magical arm to himself. Safety first! 🤓

That could also send him screaming into insanity as stuff he cannot comprehend is shoved into his brain. It's a useful spell, but it has risks.

And as there is some OOC reason to suspect the golden arm is in fact an Old One Magitech blaster, it might be Johanns' trippiest trip down jarringly-worldview-shattering-memory-lane yet.

"Magister, why is this man dead?"
"Natural causes."
"Natural causes?! He's got fifteen stab wounds in his back!"
"Stupidity is natural."

BoneyM so, hey, sorry to tag you but I have a question. Could you please expand a bit on what kind of support we would get from the College depending on the Charter? I'm not asking for mechanical things or even if we specify stuff, just the broad general stuff.

Like…

-Research:
--Attracts new people to help you out in your projects? New facilities to accommodate everyone? A budge to help with the Research? (Although by the current description we get a budge no matter what).

-Education:
--This one I imagined that would come with a group of teachers and students and the necessary accommodations, staff, etc.

-Library:
--People to take care of the books and stuff, as has been said previously.

-Outpost:
--…some kind of housing complex for people passing by to sleep in? Honesty this one is the one I understand the least of lot. I'm hoping that not picking this does not mean that we cannot bring new people in since by not picking people coming to the Karak would have to find housing by themselves.

The answer across the board is nothing but a modest staff budget. Anything else you want, you need to either supply yourself or convince someone else that it's in their best interest to supply it.

That's what I thought, thanks. I'm still a bit doubt about what the Outpost option does but maybe this is just me overthinking it...

For an example, an Outpost in K8P could be a base of operations for Wizards to explore the Badlands or the southern Dark Lands or something like that. Residential facilities would be part of it, but it would be also access to information and local specialists to assist with that task, and the managing of relationships that would make it possible.

Sooo what I am hearing is we need a test dummy.. hmm.. dummy... Ofcourse! We'll just give the hypotethical too-curious-goldie one last thing to do before death by natural causes. Two eldritch knowledges with one golden metaphysical Rock, eh!
