We're not spending all the expedition's money, whatever we do, so don't worry about that.
Ok as long as we're not then I'm fine with this
What other cities with markets are we planning on stopping at?
Also were spending Mathilde's money.
Not city markets but warbands we can pay off to leave us alone if we can avoid a fight to preserve our strength then we should take that option.
It's not "all the Expedition's money", it's just the portion of it that Mathilde will be able to pay back.
If it's just the portion Mathilde can pay back then that's fine.

Personally, I'm worried that the nut might be planted before it's recognised, leading to Pan having a diplomatic incident sitting in her garden.

But that might just be because I don't have a great frame of reference on how likely a jade wizard is to recognise the importance of the hyper-charged nut (or, recognise it enough that further research is done before planting).

Thinking more about it, the arm is probably the must buy here. The Daemonsmiths haven't realised what it is yet, but I really don't want to find out what horror they can make using it if they eventually do.

This is one that's important to deny to the enemy.

Also, I wonder what Kragg would make of an Old One relic.
Honestly the arm is a major thing for me because we have Max and Johann here to study it. More opportunity there than with the Nut.

[X] HALL: No

[X] MEAT: Yes

The meat is a no-brainer. We can cleanse it and Borek explicitly approved and funded the purchase, so any complaints can be directed to him.

The rest.... uggggg. So unsure, but...

Your share of EIC profits: 175 crowns / turn

Plus whatever our salary is, 25 crowns/turn or something like that? So 400 crowns/year. 2000 gold is five years worth of income.

So money continues to come in. Might as well spend it on unique artifacts that we'll never have another chance at, right? Whatever my doubts, I'll suck in a deep breath and vote "yes" on everything.

[X] ARM: Yes

[X] NUT: Yes

[X] PAPERS: Yes

[x] HALL: No
[x] MEAT: Yes
[x] ARM: Yes
[x] NUT: Yes
[x] PAPERS: Yes

Meats a no brainier, the nut is a goddamn steal whatever the elf thinks, and the papers are for fun. If we get the arm, fine, but I don't know what the hell we'll ever do with it. Give it to Johann I guess.

Yes, yes it is. All of the dwarfs and humans on the expedition volunteered to go find a lost hold, not to piss off the Chaos drawfs for no reason other than to save some slaves. The issue is that while the slaves are in an unfortunate position it isn't Mathilde's place to put the entire expedition in peril to satisfy her own ego. Due to her position, saving these slaves could put the Chaos dwarfs in a state of open war with the dwarfs and the Grey college.

Going off on her own and placing the entire purpose of the mission in danger with no consideration of the consequences is something that would be unacceptable for even a Journeywomen, much less a Loremaster and a Lord Magister.

If we were to discuss the issue with the other leaders of the expedition and everyone agreed to let Mathilde try to free the slaves and damn the consequences. Then I would be all for it, but it isn't Mathilde's place to make the decision on their behalf.

"Save some slaves"

That sounds like a pretty good reason to me. Also, rescuing slaves is "egotistical" now?

And rescuing some slaves isn't going to cause the war between the dwarfs and chaos dwarfs to escalate anymore than it already has. If they could send armies to besiege the Karaz Ankor, they would already be there.

I'm sure the knights don't care who they fight—chaos dwarfs, chaos humans, chaos demons, they are all threats to the Empire. Most of the dwarfs probably feel similarly.

As for making decisions, we're a Lord Magister. The only people who can countermand us is the Patriarch of the Grey Order and the Emperor himself, and neither of them are here. We don't need to get our permission slip signed to save people.

It's not a matter of 'can we buy back those slaves', its also a matter of getting those slaves back to the empire, while heading to Dum before that. Slaves we have to feed, protect, transport and care for.

In the Chaos wastes.

It's just not gonna happen guys, face the facts. Don't go to the slave hall, it will only hurt us. Ranald will understand.

Keep in mind, we are still going into said wastes, so magical stuff can be at serious risk if we don't know what it is or does.

Also, I don't trust that gold arm. Probably mummy gold...

@BoneyM

Incidentally, it's somewhat hard to figure out Mathilde's per turn income. EIC income wasn't listed on either the character sheet or the Collection of Important Information or the Organizations posts that I could find. I had to look into the EIC summary on the Turn posts for it. And I couldn't find Mathilde's Loremaster salary at all.

It might be good to put that somewhere so that people can look it up and think in terms of "how many years worth of funding is this" for themselves when/if another vote like this comes up.

Fun thought on the Uzkulak update

The dwarf rattles off so many sorts of probably-contraband and it occurs to me that every rule exists for a reason.

Which means that, quite likely, every item on this list has at one point showed up in Uzkulak and caused an incident.

Including the mummified Slann

RE: Purchases: personally, I'm just interested in the arm on the idea it might be of Lizardman/Old One origin because then it might be Winderherder enchantment research fodder.

ngl, the nut feels like it's gonna have wider consequences I don't feel like exploring.

Does Mathilde purchase the Ghyran nut for 1000 gold coins?
[]-write in, tell the guy he should give you a better deal on this nut, or else we might tell the Dwarves that he's smuggling in peices of the Athel Loren.
Good idea... Even if that things not prohibited, that would just mean CDs want that for themselves... And unlikely would pay the "full" price, even assuming they will not confiscate the item for breaking the rules.
