I thought that was just in 40k?
Nope.
High Elves Army Book 8th Edition said:
Thereafter, Isha has ever watched her mortal children keenly, ever alert to ways in which she might aid them. Whilst direct contact has long been forbidden by Asuryan, Isha sometimes pleads with Lileath to send tidings through dreams and nightmares, so taht the Elves might not confront the perils of the world without some measure of warning and guidance. Only when the Creator's attention is elsewhere does Isha dare intervene personally, spreading her magics across Ulthuan to shrivel the Daemons and evildoers that threaten her children.

Dragon bones are also a quick way to grind divine magic. The simplest way would be just to bury them, of course. More efficient would be to offer at them at some kind of altar. There are even esoteric rituals involving ground up bones and ectoplasm.

.... wait, wrong franchise.

Runescape? Man, that brings me back.

I mean, assuming you're talking Runescape. It fits at least.

So Big question before the update and people start making turn plans.

if the opportunity is there for the elf trip... we taking it?

there are a few things I would like to get ready first, but... well, free time is a premium.

At this point, I'd vote for it just to get it over with, assuming there was any kind of support for it. K8P is in a bit of a lull, that might be rare in the future.

Though, admittedly, what I really want to do is get the MAP room up for Belegar.

We've got a couple years before the next major project starts, the Waystone thing IIRC. I would suggest we we wait until just before that so we can shore up some of our weaknesses first.

just need to make sure we have the coin set to protector the turn we are going.

need to farm that elf goodwill.

I really don't think that we won't find a project before the waystone.

I really want to talk to the ice dragon some more before we go. It's very unlikely, but it would be so awesome if we could talk him into coming along and messing with the Druchii.

More importantly, and realistically, I think we should try to learn one more battle magic spell and take a shot at becoming a lord magister before we go, just so we can talk to them from the highest position available to Mathilde, beyond becoming matriarch.

I mean, Druchii are pretty hardcore and magically intense. We could hold our own, but I'd like try and impress for what little a human feasibly could impress elves.

What does it take to become a lord? Can we just apply any time?

We're not fully ready for the Elf trip, going now would be a terrible waste of an opportunity.

Firstly and most importantly Mathilde doesn't yet speak even a small amount of the Elven magical language, learning this before the trip is of paramount importance as one of the big selling points of this trip is what magical lore she might be able to learn.

Sure, but there's a difference between a project, and a Project. Right now we're just pursuing whatever catches our fancy and chasing down things that have been sitting in our back pocket for a while, but when the Waystone project starts it won't be something we can still choose to leave off for a little bit if we choose.
Also, I'm just a little bit leery of diving into another set of mini turns as this is most likely to become so soon after the last one.

We're not really Lord Magister tier yet. Not far off it, it's true, but we're still not quite that good. As for the actual process of becoming a Lord Magister, I think we could use our Great Deed to put ourselves forward for consideration, but there's no guarantee we'd pass muster.

Honestly, though, I don't think we're quite ready for the elf vacation. We've a few skills and rough areas we could stand to brush up on first.

We should finish learning our spells before the elfcation if we don't want the elves to be "helpful" and teach us spells that we could have learned with the Colleges resources. Maybe take another diplomacy class to be at 15 diplomacy to not have conversations flying over our head. When we met the Not!wood elf, the discussion was completely controlled by her. We want to avoid that.

I don't get what you think makes a lord Magister that Mathilde doesn't have. She's a lord tier character in every sense except battle magic spells, and that's by choice mostly. She's geared in a way that would make her more expensive to buy in the TT game than pretty much any non-named lord character. Her abilities are way beyond the norm of any other magister.

The only thing she's lacking is time in service which is nebulous as hell and really doesn't matter that much.

I actually don't think this one will be much of an issue on the spell front, we're basically missing IIRC one spell and we've a number of self made spells under our belt. I'm pretty confident that Mathilde is quite capable of 'blagging' it on that front. Besides which, I'm more interested in what the Elf shadow mages practice given that their curriculum wasn't devised by Teclis and presumably differs pretty substantially as these guys will be operating from their older magical traditions and based on old WoG Teclis may have given the humans a pretty substantially different education than what the elves get.

I'm sort of with you on the Diplomacy front, it'd be nice to try and pick up a point or two more before going given we have low hanging fruit in that regard.

I'm very much against. Ulthuan isn't going anywhere and I very, very much doubt it would be something we 'finish' with any speed. The elf trip is not something to do between big projects. It is a big project in and of itself.

Well he did score high on the romance vote I guess.

Nope. None of them are worth the risk. Just trying to learn one has a not insignificant chance of outright killing us. Casting one under battle conditions also has a significant chance of killing us.
