Bad idea. Main advantage Mathilde have is invisibility. It's hard to defend against something You cannot see. Shadowsteed is not covered by invisibility. It is also uncertain how shadowsteed would interfere with Smoke and Mirrors.

Our Shadowsteed Mastery literally integrates Matty and the spell in a centaur-type mode. Invisibility would cover them both.
Not that it matters. Under-Caldera has no lighting besides what the Dwarves are carrying. Fighting a Grey Wizard in darkness is generally a bad idea.

Alternatively, this is what Edda is fighting; not us.

We might not get there in time to help. Certainy not before her throng takes heavy casualties.
If its in caldera central, Commander Wolf will just splat it with Eye of Gazul.

If it's close to Citadel and thus outside reach of Eye, there are Kragg, Thorek and boatload of shooty gubbinz in Citadel.

drama-dice strike again

Guess that takes care of the 'exciting' part of the oral history afterwards and is in theme with warhammer tropes.

Oh dear. That seems like a pretty bad matchup. How big is a retinue going to be? And how tough, usually?

Mathilde will be rocking effectively 23 + 10 swordstyle + 5 mount + 5 (one time maybe, bonus of warrior of fog) = 38 to 43 sustained martial. It feels possible imo, if the magic aligns with the ambush(es)...

I do hope that Boney throws a bone (eh) and makes it possible to use the mount and the rest together

Well.

Here's hoping we're not too burnt out from using the Eye?

You know, given how long it's been taking, I imagine we either got really good rolls, really bad ones, or just bullshit confusing ones. Let's just hope it's not a repeat of the Skaven assassination debacle.

His retinue is probably going to be the toughest and best equipped non-bosses they have. Not sure they have any Black Orcs, but Big Un's at least.
Might also include something unusual to deal with non-conventional situations, like a shaman or that grudge thrower they had on his cart.

I hope it'll end up with us, Belegar and the White Dwarf fighting back to surrounded by the elite of the Orcs. The best of the old, the new, and the one who has to navigate between the two.

Eh, might also just be Boney needing some time to figure out how to deal with this at all.
Something we can easily take or the warboss on his own we'd probably just get a straightforward confrontation against.

A whole enemy unit of elites? Boney needs to figure out the entire tactical situation when they're encountered, what assets are in place and nearby, whether we need a cutoff point for another vote, etc.
Update might take a while but arrive without a single combat dice even thrown yet.

Or there's been a mix of both extremely good and bad ones and Boney is cursing Ranald
That would be the bullshit confusing option, yes.

that's also possible, though I'm hoping not. Since we don't really have an option on whether we should let them go or not, as any amount of greenskins getting past would be bad, let alone this particular group, a vote would probably just be about how to handle it, and I'm fairly certain Boney has managed the specific tactics well enough on his own up until now. Also, the event is starting to drag on, and I just want to get to the fun stuff, like epic battles and loot, but that's a personal preference.

soooo

is the update soon

cause the bed is whispering sweet words into my eyeballs and i'm tempted to take up the offer to Lala Land

In fact, I think that all the wizards got something like that. The Original three who came with us have Royal Boon (Moderate) but the other wizards have a Royal Boon (minor).
