Panoramia and Max got some royal boons too,

EDIT: Johann, Pan, and Max got moderate, the rest got minor boons.

IIRC, Johann called in his favors from the earlier campaign to get enough gold to gild himself, so this must be a new favor from this most recent incident.

Which strongly implies that Johann kicked ass during this, to get a moderate Royal favor. Looking forward to seeing what cool bullshit he pulled off while Mathilde was doing her own thing.

Lets not conduct experiments that involve dosing greenskins with powerful magic.
What's the worst that could happen?

Shadow Orcs, and why some research is better left untouched.

Shadow Orcs are the result of magical experiments performed by Mathilde Weber, former Magister of the Grey Order. They possess brutal cunning and cunning brutality that makes them far more intelligent and dangerous than normal Orcs. They also posses a semi-incorporeal nature than renders them resistant to normal blades and their connection to Ulgu allows them to seemingly teleport from shadow to shadow.

Their favorite method of torture is to hold their prisoner down, reach into their bodies, and remove/crush their internal organs, as documented on their first known victim, their erstwhile creator.

This. This is the second worst thing that could happen.

The worst would be spontaneous possession by Gork and/or Mork.

And we have no Royal boon. It's unfair. We did far more.
Our character sheet just hasn't updated yet.

As did Panoramia and Maximilian, so I can't wait to see what they did too. I bet Panoramia did some tunnel fighting with Father of thorns, and Max was in a gyrocopter.

I think the royal boon is simply a favour owed by Belegar for distinguished service during retaking. I suspect this update will wrap things up, which is why the people who are not part of the, well, you know, normal inhabitants, but instead of the expedition, are getting it now. Because we just retook the Karak in full.
At least i think it do be this way.

Ok, one more, this time with the buildings started.

Locations but not final geometry for Mathilde's towers, east gate, citadel, king's stair, troll towers and wall, and Karag Nar stables.

Does anyone want the blender file? I can post a link, someone might be better than me with fly-throughs, textures and lighting.

If the long red line is Karagril aqueduct, then Mathilde's towers are on the wrong mountain - they should be on Karag Nar (which is not adjacent to Karagril), not Karag Lhune (which is)

In addition to the royal boons that others noticed, Johann and Adela both gained 1 martial, from 16 to 17:
(Which suggests that the boons are in fact from time spent helping, rather than critting or the like, since i imagine johann and adela's martial increases were from crits/high rolls, and the former got moderate boon while the latter got minor)

Concerning Royal Boons: consider wizard's position as a journeyman or magister, relative to their boon.
The reward they got from helping doesn't have to come from crits, merely good rolls combined with a good rank. Masters get paid more, so this shouldn't be a difference, in the dwarf mindset.
Those who didn't get anything? Failed to roll above their treshold. Now, a journeyman could be capable of getting moderate boon (I think), but the treshold would be much higher, like 40/90 kind of DC.
