We never did find out, when the Grand Theogonist was apparently wailing on about the peat seizures undertaken by Roswita, whether he was bemoaning or lauding her actions.

The Eonir, who have a strong taboo against leaving Laurelorn and its oversoul dominated by the Grey Lords, have removed Ereth Khial from the mandala entirely in favour of Ulric, relegating Her to a minor god.
I hadn't realized so many of the Major Houses had already been cumulatively shown. Since this is stuff Mathilde would know and it wouldn't actually be that much entirely new information at once:
For contact with humans:
Ward of Rain
Ward of Storm
Ward of Frost
Fanpatar - Yvresse, Ladrielle
Filuan - Avelorn, Isha
Quendalmanliye - Eataine, Mathlann
Orodreth - Nagarythe, Lileath
Maeglin - Tiranoc, Atharti
Tindomiel - Saphery, Hekarti
Mardil - Cothique, Mathlann
Nienna - Cothique, Morai-Heg
Ellemakil - Avelorn, Ulric
Teleri - Ellyrion, Mathlann
Against contact with humans:
Ward of Sun
Malforric - Avelorn, Asuryan
Apacanwa - Chrace, Kurnous
Sumier - Avelorn, Isha
Miriel - Nagarythe, Vaul
Thyriolan - Saphery, Hoeth
Orome - Yvresse, Drakira
Reveniol - Elyrrion, Eldrazor
Orophin - Chrace, Ellinill
Vaire - Avelorn, Hekarti
Ecthelion - Saphery, Hoeth
Yavanna - Avelorn, Isha
Has this been asked previously? I wonder if it was House Ellemakil that previously controlled the temple of Ereth Khial, and if so why they so easily gave up their goddess' position on the Mandela for Ulric. Or was it maybe House Elwyn that had influence in both Asuryan and Ereth Khial's temples and it was their extinction that allowed for Ulric to rise into the Mandela. Or maybe she was so easy to remove from the Mandela because none of the Houses gave that temple their support? There are 22 positions on the Mandela after all, and only 15 represented among the Houses. Though if that is true there is still the question of why House Ellemakil switched to Ulric and who they switched from.
Found out about this today. In Total War, the last four lines are the description for Dazh's Song of Winter Sunlight. The Heart Is As A New Strung Bow
The heart is as a new-strung bow
It knows not its strength 'til tested
Yet though it wound its target deep
'Tis the bowman's flesh that festers
A woman is as a new-cut axe
She needs no strength for rending
Yet though she bests at every clash
She yields at battle's ending
A fray is as a blazing hearth
Where life and death are found
Our enemies driven back in fear
Our hearts with brothers bound
Death is like the winter chill
No door can keep it from us
And summer yet may bloom again
Though ice be all upon us

Even worse, it would risk putting in question other decisions made by Magnus. For example, what to do about those people playing with the foul energies of the Warp. But "fair" isn't a word that has any particular meaning here. Magnus the Pious had the literal Mandate of Heaven, and he said the Church of Sigmar gets three votes, so they have three votes. People accepted this during his lifetime because again, Mandate of Heaven, and later it was enshrined as tradition.

Well yes, but outlawing the Colleges would still mean their eventual destruction, from attrition if nothing else. They effectively didn't recruit while under siege.I don't know who's asking and how flammable are they feeling today?
A generation ago an attempt to outlaw the colleges ended in a siege. A generation from now it might end even more badly for the would be witch burners. It is worth keeping in mind that power, be that financial, magical, social is a far better guarantee than any piece of parchment, be its signatory ever so holy.

I think the wizards of the Colleges can simultaneously be of the opinions 'We can take them' and 'I'd really rather not make things immeasurably more dangerous and difficult for ourselves'.Only if the law of the Empire or indeed the Empire itself can outlast them, that is not a guarantee.

1. Praag
2. Middenheim
3. Altdorf
4. Karak Eight Peaks
5. Zhufbar
6. Lothern

Also, I wonder what we'll pick up from the markets. There's bound to be something we can grab to upgrade the Adela Mk III.

On the materials side of things, we can get better components, but that would make everything cost more, and that tanks the idea of mass production. I still believe training up some of the Gunnery School crowd with some influence expenditure is our best bet for getting something sustainable, with the added bonus of also satisfying Family Demands for a few more turns.

MoneyB said:The Dwarven city of Zhufbar is in a rare celebratory mood with the formal completion of the Black Water Canal, an impressive feat of engineering that promises to tie the Karaz Ankor and the Empire ever closer together. While on the face of things this would seem only to significantly affect Zhufbar and Stirland, the new juncture represents a viable connection between the Reik River basin and the Black Gulf, a fact which has led to interest from parties across the Old World. As a result, the festivities command a very high profile guest list: An Elector Count, several Dwarven Kings, the Chancellor of the Imperial Treasury, Marienburg's High Priest of Manaan, the Markgraf of Sylvania, and many more lords, councilors, triumvirs, knights, doges, officers, representatives, associates, family members, and otherwise notable persons.
And, of course, one Lady Magister Mathilde Weber and pilot, who may or may not have her own opportunities to seek in the capital of Dwarven Engineering.
You find yourself in a very good mood as you fly above the busy waterway, humming an old Wissenlander army tune to the rhythm of the motor. Perhaps some inspiration from the foremost engineers in the Karaz Ankor is just what you need to finally finish your Masterpiece.
[Rolling... 4. Oh dear.]
You are Adela Burgstaller, beloved daughter, adaptable mechanic, (brevet) master pryomancer, gunnery school liaison, and certified gyrocarriage operator.
You reckon that last bit might be up for review, though, as you stare down your goggles at the crew of clucking dwarfs circumambulating about the engineering bay, their diagnostic tools clenched tightly with barely restrained... enthusiasm. Your erstwhile employer has already fled the scene with typical Grey Order treachery, abandoning her brave and leal pilot to the tender mercies of the Zhufbar Engineering Guild's Gyrocopter Division.
"Baldor! Check the rotor!""Make sure that wazzock down in Eight Peaks hasn't been skimping on maintenance!""Zeryl, you fool of a beardling, that's the wrong toolkit! This is a 'carriage, not a 'copter!""Tam, measure wind resistance!""Norrin, measure Wind resistance!"
At least, you hope that last moniker remains true, because it would become very awkward for your sightseeing plans (and your job) if you lost your license to fly.
How do you resolve the concerns of these overzealous engineers?
[ ] Grab a drink and talk shop. This isn't anything a good ale can't smooth over, and you have enough experience with Gotri's habits to make a good show of it with his old guild. (Roll Diplomacy)
[ ] Demonstrate your competence and involve yourself with the maintenance. You've no slouch when it comes to engineering skills, and by Morgrim you can prove it. (Roll Learning)
[ ] Let them tinker, and be close at hand to helpfully answer any questions. This is just another opportunity to learn and observe. (Roll Intrigue)
[ ] Fireball. (Roll Martial)
[ ] Write in.
- There will be a six hour moratorium.
- Consider carefully which of your traits you want to leverage, and which may be a hindrance.
- Regular turn voting will resume in the next update... assuming you manage to get yourself out of this mess.
You arrived via one of the telescopic launch bays that Zhufbar is riddled with, and fled into the Dwarfhold as a flock of clucking Engineers descended upon the Gyrocarriage to see what horrors a human Zhufokri pilot might have inflicted upon it.
Took me a second to realize the joke here. Fucking lmao."Tam, measure wind resistance!""Norrin, measure Wind resistance!"
One nice thing about Mandred joining the colleges is we probably won't see a blanket ban on wizards under the current emporer even if there's another Night of Arcane Duels
I dunno, I am going to avoid real life examples because yikes derailment and not the right board minefield, but powerful people ban things they partake on/ allow their family to partake on all the time.
That is indeed the case. My head-canon for negaquest pacing is that people in positions lesser than 'councilor to a king/elector count' are further divorced from strategy game pacing, while Thorgrim is playing full 4x Grand Strategy and his turns would be appropriately longer to match. It's not nailed down, but I'm imagining something like 1 month turns—Deriving Lore #1 had Sommerzeit feature prominently in the faux-update.Took me a second to realize the joke here. Fucking lmao.
Jokes aside, I imagine that Deriving Lore has a different action system or pacing than Divided Loyalties, given how the Kislev City thing was described as an arc...
And, as an aside, funny as it is to see "Lothern" on Mathilde's list of possible destinations (and as a 6, at that), I imagine she wouldn't actually risk the gyrocarriage trying to make it across the sea. Large heavier-than-air flying machines aren't exactly known for their buoyancy in case of emergencies.
I thought we were using that to power the boards search engine. Please return the imprint of my soul from within whatever crystal you have trapped it.
It can do other things. Why shouldn't it?I thought we were using that to power the boards search engine.
One of the most heartwarming moments I've ever read was when we got called in front of the Ar-Ulric and the college said they'd march on Middenheim if he tried anything.I don't know who's asking and how flammable are they feeling today?
