We are an invisible teleporting ball of AoE confusion magic. If they don't have a shaman, they're basically dead.
no no no, we are an invisible teleporting ball of AoE confusion magic with unique insight into smashing Waaagh magic like a brick through the window. Even if they do have a shaman, they're basically dead.

Clan Agrund was also sent down and they are the ones the White Dwarf should be hanging out with. We wont be facing this solo. This will be a nice proper battle.
This also is a nice opportunity for the We to finally get a cool scene during this war turn. Wouldnt be a stretch for this to happen close enough for them to notice.

ooh, ooh, I just realized: we might get yet another trophy out of this. Giant bird wings sound like they would fit well into our eclectic mix.

There's an upside to this....

On the bright side, we can send the head of Warboss Birdmuncher to Thorgrim Failgrudger and parade it around Karaz a Karak as proof of our victory, if we survive this.

Well at the very least the Warboss won't be at his best, since he will be lacking his pump wagon and odds are is built more like a ranged artillery hero who can get into melee but isn't the best at it. Which is good since the tunnels aren't the best place for ranged combat, especially when fighting a teleporting cloud of confusion that can hit as hard as a cannon and see in the dark.

There is a reason why a 6 was snotlings, and a 5 a shaman. This is a 1. It is very much a "you can die here" situation. Mat's chocies might be to hold as long as she can, hoping reinforcements make it, or letting 500k greenskins flood the caldera while she runs.

At least there is a bit of safety net in form of Grombrindal. He is around and tend to be where dwarves needs him most. Warboss and retinue drilling to under-caldera would be perfect place for him to appear and turn the tide.

Though holding the West Gate is propably the best fit for his abilities.

Ultimatly our work here will not matter much if the remaining hundreds of thousands of Greenskins still out there can get into the Caldera and either support the remains here, or attack the Karagil-blockade from the back to allow for great reinforcements.

I think everyone's celebrating a little too soon--Mathilde isn't exactly in tip-top shape at the moment.
I mean, I agree with you. We shouldn't celebrate too early. At the same time, without more information I don't see any harm in being a little optimistic. I find it unlikely we'll just be neutral and it's better than pessimism.

consider our Waaagghbane trait if there are any shaman chances are we're going to be inducing a nasty miscast, miscasts can murder everything around the miscast.

At least we can do the whole Teleports Behind You thing. And we can do it while invisible too. Intangible as well if we're not illuminated. Might let us get off an easy bifurcation.

While you may be right, I personally think it's just because those would be something Mathilde can perfectly counter. Snotlings is, of course, just snotlings, and only the stupidest of shamans would want to meet Mathilde down a dark alley. Pretty much the whole rest of the list are things we've dealt with before on numerous occasions. A one just means we have a difficult, but manageable fight. Not an easy win by any means, but also unlikely to be a case of "pyrrhic victory is your best outcome".

Bears noting that:
If the Under-Caldera is big enough to fit the Warboss Birdmuncha the Zogging Big, it's probably big enough for Mathilde to activate her Shadowsteed. Which is another +5 to her Martial while mounted.

I would love it if we could finally get to use our Shadow Horse.

Bad idea. Main advantage Mathilde have is invisibility. It's hard to defend against something You cannot see. Shadowsteed is not covered by invisibility. It is also uncertain how shadowsteed would interfere with Smoke and Mirrors.
