"Hey, Ogres! I'll give you meat and Old World stuff in exchange for Cathay stuff."You don't know that. Maybe those gribblies all like to trade in their off time. Everybody likes a good silk blanket, right?
The Ogres are actually the one exception to that whole lot. To my understanding, when Greasus united (I think) the Ogres, he facilitated trade between East and West in exchange for a large cut."Hey, Ogres! I'll give you meat and Old World stuff in exchange for Cathay stuff."

OTOH we must consider that the more lucrative it is the more the Dawi Zharr will be able to make by raiding it, and thus more will raid it.There is also Karag Azul with all the fine metal crafting that can be sold now. There should be an explosion of trade with just dwarfs travelling there to get weapons.
There is also all of the people coming to try and strike it rich in Karag 8 Peaks. We essentially have become a gold mine on an already established trade route. I fully expect a boom town to happen and if we can keep it going than it will turn into a massive trade hub for the silk road.
The silk road was passable before. It was just very difficult. Not very many people were willing to risk it. Now that the difficulty has been reduced more people are willing to try it. At this point it becomes simple math.
More people are trying it so more people will get through. The more people that get through the more people think it's worth the risk. The more people who think it is worth the risk the more people will go. And so on and so on.
We could make this a huge stop on an invigorated overland trade route if the cards fall right.

That assumes any force is actively trying to hunt them down in the Dark Lands. At least, anyone that's organized and not hostile to any forces of order.Of course, on the plus side, if they're out raiding they're not in their fortresses, so they're easier to hunt down.
So amber journeymanlings are the GM saving throw? Sounds right.I'm kind of waiting for the first caravan to make it trough and it makes a fortune... rare trade praise be the gods. Then the next comes caravan and it makes a fortune and everyone is like... that is kind of weird, but exotic trade. Time goes on and people eventually figure out that this trade route is kind of inexplicably open out of nowhere. It just kind of is...
The first merchants aren't going tip people off at first to keep prices up and competition down. For the first few months it just kind of happens and then they have to rejigger all the trade routes. Some random Quest gets completely hosed as the trade route moves away from them and prices end up in flux.
Meanwhile Spider Quest is constantly whinging on and on about how stupid this siege is, until the GM informs them they are the only gribbly faction left in the area... somehow. Their survival rolls have actually been really high... its just the nonsense adventures of Belegar and his random Master magical ninja sidekick have derailed everything.
Wouldn't that put them on the level of a Dread Saurian?I'd personally have Emperor dragons running around with S10 and T10.
We wield the power of belly rubs and dog treats. And also an empathic/aetheric link. But mostly scritches.
We give them for free, and thus they are worth more.He already knows how to scam food and belly rubs off the halflings.
"Hey, Ogres, the spikey dwarves stole all the meat we were sending to you."That assumes any force is actively trying to hunt them down in the Dark Lands. At least, anyone that's organized and not hostile to any forces of order.
Plus, our the psychic connection lets Mathilde know all the best places to scritch.
This is incorrect. Stolen food tastes better, and scammed rubs feel better. Basic fact.
This however, is valid.Plus, our the psychic connection lets Mathilde know all the best places to scritch.
"Spell: Puppy Dog Eyes- The caster puts his paws together in front of him and begins to beg, with his eyes slightly moist. Causes a mind-control effect on most humanoids, that can only be used to give treats or scratches. No save."
Mathilde: Here's a hint if you ever need to figure it out if I am not around, it's always his belly.Plus, our the psychic connection lets Mathilde know all the best places to scritch.
So the Council is Belegar, Mathilde, Mathilde, Mathilde, Mathilde, and Mathilde's dog. Wow, this really is a CK2 game.
Can't wait for our dog to become Emperor and restore the glory of mankind. So the Council is Belegar, Mathilde, Mathilde, Mathilde, Mathilde, and Mathilde's dog. Wow, this really is a CK2 game.
