Teclis is probably the single most sympathetic Elf to confront the project team but he's still an Elf. Time to figure out how to herd the team into a united front to negotiate over whatever everyone wants out of an arrangement with Ulthuan.

If we get word that Teclis is coming to the empire I'd be voting to invest a ridiculous amount (like 30+) of dwarf favour into commissioning a runic item to enhance vitality and strength. It won't make teclis as strong as a normal elf, or even likely stop him from needing massive amounts of magical steroids, but it would help.

Unfortunately, we can't commission runic items for other people, the runesmiths don't like their work getting handed out to people they don't personally trust. At most, we could offer to make introductions.

Probably best not to bring up the Curse as the reason though. I daresay he gets enough pity from his compatriots.

Teclis is a hero from the great war against Chaos. While Elf's are generally distrusted, i think if there was an Elf with actual enough dwarven favour to get runeitems. It would be one of the three guys who showed up at the battlefield.

Thinking about trade with the Drucchi, what about trying to set up an underground railroad for slaves and/or try to tempt some of them into defecting.

Both those things would probably need some operatives on the terrain and quite a bit of cloak and dagger though, Mathilde probably doesn't have the time for that sadly...

Huh, Mathilde's windherder trait might be what would impress Teclis (or elves in general) the most. Because understanding how winds interact is a big part of being able to cast High Magic, and that's the ultimate magical achievement. Mathilde can't actually cast it, but she's closer than she has any right to, and probably closer than elven mages many times her age.

If Teclis actually shows up in person than Mathelida would seriously be considered for filling in some major leadership positions inside of the college. If she ever went for the Supreme Patriarch title, she might find people who would usually throw down for the title simply abstain if she managed to get her hand on the staff and beat whoever is the active SP or contender.

It's wishful thinking, but I do find it unlikely she will go for it barring jumping some arse she felt was not worthy in the duels.

The big problem is that unless Dragomas stands down, we can't actually be SM because we can't beat a dragon in a duel.

I wonder if part of why Tecils set up the colleges to take advantage of human's instinctive casting is because his massive talent allows him to do something similar, which gave him as close an understanding of it an elf could get.

Yeah, that's pretty much our go-to option in wizard duels. He's probably pretty good at it, but we're good at ruining other people's fun, so I think it could go either way.

Unless Dragomas really is secretly a dragon from Catahy impersonating a journeyman, in which case the transformation's probably not counterspellable.

EDIT: Although actually, we technically only have explicit bonuses at countering Greenskins and necromancers. I think we got offered a more general counterspelling trait at one point, and took something else; no idea when, though.

I'm not sure it's possible to counterspell someone dismissing their transformation. I mean I guess another Amber Wizard could do it. Maybe by recasting the spell? They'd have to be pretty strange though, to have a human transformation spell at the ready.

The problem with trying for SP is that our best piece of antimagic gear is the Belt, which we can't use. Or rather we could, but it would piss off a lot of people, and even if we somehow beat Dragomas we're not going to capable of beating all the people who'd challenge us. And they'd be willing to go to extremes if we're willing to erase Dragomas' signature spell from his memory.

... Let's see if we can randomly counterspell him in the middle of the street. If he turns into a dragon we now have confirmation...

That was Khorne, not Khaine. There's frequent confusion between the two, and sometimes they get conflated in-setting, but Khaine's the dude that still fought on the side of the elves against Chaos (for better or worse). Admittedly, it's said that all the gods including Chaos told Aenarion 'bro dont fucking pick up that sword, nothing good will come of it', and then he did it anyway, dooming the elves to forever be entwined with war when they previously were very peaceful.

I will now join in what is presumably a long tradition by saying "What the fuck, Aenarion."

Vlag is unique in this regard because it was held by Daemons, which are basically pieces of Slaanesh.

The worst piratical coinage.
