I like how this entire blurb completely sidesteps Eike's existence. In a story dedicated to Magda Wessen's romantic adventures, an apprentice would only hamper the story's progression.

She'll be mentioned once she's a journeyman getting into her own issues so Magda can show up sometimes and be mysterious at her while solving her problems. It'll be entirely unclear as to whether Eila was a secret apprentice or if Magda's decided to just adopt a random journeyman and gaslight them into thinking she's their master.I like how this entire blurb completely sidesteps Eike's existence. I imagine the trees help to shield you from the weather? If you're not at the very edge of the forest.
Gribblies is fair, that border probably gets the most gribblies, but it also seems like sea gribblies are the least likely to try to move in?
You can basically assume that there are Trolls adapted to every possible environment you can think of.I thought Bog Octopuses lived in bogs. Also, there are goddamn sea trolls? Do they like, live underwater?

So, as something of an open question to other voters, can somebody put in words why so many people want the Max option? I am unlikely to change my votes, but I don't quite get the interest here and would like to get it.
The deep lore behind this creature fascinates me."The Bog Octopus has fascinated scholars for many centuries. Grimblinnder believed it was created by a now lost civilisation. In The First Great War, he claimed to have found the following quotation carved into a fallen menhir in the Wasteland: "And the mighty eight-armed one was raised from the sea and made to guard our waste." This origin for the Bog Octopus is contradicted, though, by Liathalissen's epic treatise Aethyric Dominion, Falling Stars, Geomantic Construction and other Remnants of the Old Ones. Here, Liathalissen suggests that the Old Ones themselves were responsible, claiming that " Tepok waved his [hand] and [the Bog Octopus] was made. It was charged with patrolling the [under passages/tunnels], as it had been [gifted/designed with] a [body/shape] for the purpose." Whatever the truth of the matter, the Bog Octopus is an anomaly sure to confound scholars for many centuries to come." —Sigo Bentele, Magister of the Light Order (Warhammer Fantasy 2nd Edition Companion PG 119).
I mean, would we get an idea of more normal elf-beast relationships from army books? I feel like there'd be a natural bias towards war beasts in that kind of book. Do we even get that kind of cinnamon roll urge feel from the Empire or Bretonnia books?Similarly, Elves seem to lack the 'cinnamon roll' instinct. Every one of the Elf-beast relationships - Ulthuan in general with Great Eagles and Griffins, Caledorians and Dragons, Ellyrians and horses, Chracians and lions, and so on - are relationships of mutual respect because those critters are extremely deadly or powerful or magical or cunning or wise or whatever. Every time it's framed as something that is earned. They just don't seem to have that 'they are adorable, and I would kill for them' urge that humanity is prone to. So it would seem that you cannot build a relationship with Elves just by endearing yourself to them, you need to be able to earn their respect in some way first.
Max is a good lad who has done amazing work for us over the years; much of our best work would not have happened, or been nearly as good, without him (Queekish, obviously, but let me remind you all that the only reason Waaagh and Peace critted and became an amazing paper that spawned a lecture series and catapulted Mathilde to international fame is because of a Max interrupt). Furthermore, he's a good lad who is often quietly in the background, now that his more drama-causing tendencies have calmed down. The last time we spend a social turn on him was Turn 27, 6.5 in-quest years ago and nearly three real-life years ago. We introduced him to the Cult of Vaul here in Laurelorn, and it would be neat to see what came of that. So, as something of an open question to other voters, can somebody put in words why so many people want the Max option? Ah yes, the dreaded Bretonian War Rabbit.I mean, would we get an idea of more normal elf-beast relationships from army books? I feel like there'd be a natural bias towards war beasts in that kind of book. Do we even get that kind of cinnamon roll urge feel from the Empire or Bretonnia books?
I recognize most of these, but does anyone know where lindwurms appear in Warhammer?Plenty of sea critters can make their way onto land if there's prey to make it worth it. Sea Trolls, Fimir, Prometheans, Lindwurms, Dragon Turtles, Sirens, Bog Octopi, Sea Serpents...
Did someone mention... the Bog Octopus?

Far as I know, nothing is specifically referred to as a Lindwurm aside from it being used in German descriptions of Warhammer to refer to Wyverns, but I imagine there's plenty of creatures that you could classify as such. Far as I know it's just a serpentine wyvern and/or dragon.I recognize most of these, but does anyone know where lindwurms appear in Warhammer?
I can't remember. Is there "Old Ones" as a topic to buy books on?
@Boney, from whom can we acquire books on the Old Ones? The queen and Deathfang mentioned them so Mathilde knows they exist now and giving her some knowledge about them is something I'm interested in, if only to contextualise other stuff.
In theory we could buy books on them from Laurelorn (unless they fall into military relevance), but we are no longer made of money, Old Ones books are unlikely to be directly useful for anything we have going on, and if they are directly useful for Waystones things we can access them from the Library of Mourning even without copying them to KAU.Slann, Southlands Slann, Ulthuan, Naggaroth, Athel Loren, Laurelorn, Albion, Cathay, Khuresh, Dragons, Dragon Ogres, Fimir, Prometheans. Though actually getting the books out of them would require varying amounts of effort.

I'll be honest, her existence completely skipped my mind, partly because I was working under the impression that the previous 'arc' wouldn't let Magda leave Lorelim for purposes of a consistent, set-in-one-place arc. So Eike didn't have any opportunity to show up on top of not fitting the genre at all.I like how this entire blurb completely sidesteps Eike's existence. I feel like Kislev at least has a healthy mutual respect with their bears, but I wouldn't put it past Boris & co to engage in silly moments in their private time like hugging their bears and playing in the snow.I mean, would we get an idea of more normal elf-beast relationships from army books? I feel like there'd be a natural bias towards war beasts in that kind of book. Do we even get that kind of cinnamon roll urge feel from the Empire or Bretonnia books?
This reminds me, did Max get a Great Deed from Queekish too?Max is a good lad who has done amazing work for us over the years; much of our best work would not have happened, or been nearly as good, without him (Queekish, obviously, but let me remind you all that the only reason Waaagh and Peace critted and became an amazing paper that spawned a lecture series and catapulted Mathilde to international fame is because of a Max interrupt). Is there any rush to see what's up with him? No. There never is. But it makes me happy to spend time on Max even when he isn't busting out mad CF for us or otherwise supporting our career with his quiet diligence. He deserves Mathilde's, and the thread's, appreciation every once in a while.
Speaking of this, @BoneyM , Mathilde got a Great Deed for her work on Queekish. As far as she knows, did Max get anything for his contribution to that effort?
Any other questions while I'm hitting the stacks?
How are you so wise in the ways of science?
